Incompetent and careless. They did work repairing our kitchen a few years ago after mold. What they…read moresaid would be a 2 week job turned into probably 5 months. Writing this now because I just saw an outlet underneath the sink that's not at all mounted to the wall and was reminded of how ridiculous this whole ordeal was. They'd come maybe 2 times a week, maybe less, sit in the driveway and wait for each other for a while, and they'd always forget what they were supposed to do. Then they'd say "ah ya we remember now, gotta go to Home Depot" and take another 1-2 hours. The pace of work was incredibly slow. When they were redoing our kitchen, we came home and saw that the main handyman had bought cabinets for the sink that opened straight into the fridge and stove, so you could barely open them. It was on a corner, so clearly a corner / lazy Susan cabinet was needed. Delayed the job by however many days. They cracked the sink they put in, and there's carvings in the countertops from where they messed up with sloppy cutting. When they installed the AC window units, they stained the window panes, sink, and the outside of the house with the insulation foam and didn't attempt to clean it until I asked. They didn't get much up; still stained. They didn't put calking around the countertop they put in behind the sink. There were a bunch of other times where similar things happened that I had to ask them to redo it or do a part of the job they'd missed.

Ever since his first visit to my home, I trusted Sam's expertise and taste and knew that he would do the best job for my windows. I didn't know exactly what I wanted for my window coverings, but he provided me the best recommendations that I am very happy that I ended-up going with. I really appreciated that Sam had a strong eye for what would look good in my house. I got roller blinds done for my kitchen counters, sliding panel tracks for my patio sliding door, blackout honeycomb shades behind my existing bedroom shutters, and new shutters for my remaining bedrooms. The window coverings look amazing. I included photos in my review, but it looks even better in person. Even my father, who is not impressed by anything, kept making comments about how nice it looks. I did get some lower quotes from other window covering providers, but I found my experience with Sam and Kara Window Coverings to be very much worth it, with much higher quality products than other providers. I appreciated how detailed Sam was in making the measurements, and he kept me updated every step of the way as the order was put in and shutters were being built. I also found his installer, Fred, to be very competent and pleasant to work with. There were a few things that happened after installation that made me respect Sam and his team even more. In one of the kitchen roller blinds, there was a tiny hole in it that bothered me, and Sam immediately replaced ordered new blinds and had Fred re-install them. A few months after install, the sliding panel track handle fell off, and within less than a day, Fred came over to fix it. Called JC based on a recommendation from a former student who worked for them. James, the owner, was polite and prompt. Called on a Thursday and he came out on a Saturday. Pricing varies, depending on the job, but there is an hourly rate, usually with a 2 hour minimum (for larger jobs like mine). James himself showed up (no subcontracting here) with his son and one other worker. The job was done, as promised, within the two hour frame, but, one of our downspouts was cracked on three sides and needed to be replaced. We were told it might take a couple weeks, and that they would do their best to match the paint. One week later, we have a perfectly matched downspout installed and, as it happened to rain a week after that, working perfectly. The total cost for the new downspout was a bit more than I expected (both the parts and the labor), but the work is perfect, was done in a timely fashion, and James is incredibly easy to contact and communicate with. JC Home Repair does all kinds of handyman work and does holiday lights installation. I would certainly recommend them to anyone who needs work done. I'll be calling them again for sure.

Just like on other jobs, at the conclusion of the day's work, the crew buttoned up the job site and even vacuumed and swept up so we weren't tracking dust throughout the house. We've got other ideas for home improvement and we will certainly be calling Geo when the time comes!
