But what really sets Fatima apart is her talent with alterations. She is meticulous, detail-oriented, and a true perfectionist--exactly what you want in a seamstress! I purchased my Mother of the Bride dress from Fatima. The dress was gorgeous but uncomfortable, scratchy, and didn't fit well. I almost passed it up, but Fatima assured me she could transform it...and she absolutely did! Thanks to her, it fit beautifully, was comfortable all night, and I felt fabulous at my daughter's wedding. We also brought my daughter's ball gown wedding dress to Fatima for alterations, and thank goodness we did. She worked wonders--adjusting the hoop, adding extra bling, tailoring the bodice, shortening the hem, and even creating a stunning 6-button bustle. She went above and beyond, and her prices were more reasonable than the shop where the gown was purchased! Fatima has been sewing since she was 16, starting with men's suits, and her decades of experience truly show. While we were in her shop, we even saw her fix a dress that another seamstress had ruined; Fatima is a miracle worker! Not only is she incredibly skilled, but her easy-going personality makes the whole experience a joy. She is a rare find, and I can't recommend her enough. Thank you, Fatima!!

I'm expecting my first baby in three months and so decided to pop into Sprout and About to snoop…read morearound for stuff for the baby. Once inside, the owner pointed me towards the maternity clothes and I forgot all about the kid! I've been putting off buying maternity clothes because it's kind of hard to get to excited to spend tons of money on clothes that I will only wear for three months, and I feel like a sausage.....which doesn't help. Anyway, even though there were only a few racks of clothes of each type (dresses, tops, pants), there was no picking through junk to find something good because it all looked good. All the clothes were in fanatastic shape and from big name stores like Motherhood and they were CUTE!!! I tried on piles of stuff and wound up with two great work skirts, a pair of jeans, two work appropriate dresses, and five shirts for $82! WOW. The baby and kid clothes looked nice, too, but I was in a hurry to make off with my score and go to Ocean State Job Lot to buy junk I don't need and food that only looks good under their flourescent lights and then is not so appealing at home. But I digress - if you are on a budget, need some maternity clothes that don't look like gramma's housecoat, and are in the South Shore area - check this place out!

I was a certifiable stalker of Details & Design, weeks before I ever had the chance to visit the…read moreactual store, located in the heart of storybook-pretty Padanaram Village. My pal Tiffani handles the store's social media, keeping its Facebook page and Instagram feed stocked with the most enticing teasers: everything from home decor, to jewelry, to clothing. For me, it was love at first "like." When I visited this past weekend with friends, I knew I'd found in this lovely place a soul mate (an expensive, high maintenance soul mate). The inventory is unfailingly stunning: gorgeous Asha jewelry, Blue Jean candles, vintage Union Jack steamers, luxe fur throws, ridiculously soft cashmere capes, and locally designed, oversized bangles made of braided rope. And even two pieces - a fur tote and a magnifying glass - both boasting seriously grand ivory tusks for handles. One hour in this two-level shop, home to so many beautiful treasures, wasn't enough for us. I don't think a minute passed where at least one of us didn't proclaim our love for some delightful item. Margaret, the owner of D&D, is so welcoming; she chatted with us the entire time. We shared a tin of her lemon drops as we explored the entire space and heard about the many ways she sources her breathtaking selections. It's a small miracle that I was able to walk away with only one item (a vintage gold chain statement necklace), because during my 60 minutes at D&D I easily fell in love, one hundred times over. Locals, rejoice: the store hosts a wine evening on Fridays! Sadly for me, the 45-minute drive from Providence makes it impossible to get there before closing time (sometimes, I think there are guardian angels out there that are saving me from myself). Sip sip sipping, while wallet dip, dip, dipping. What a delightful and dangerous way to end a long work week. Details & Design has been on the scene for nearly a decade; I'm sure that Margaret must have a widespread and enthusiastic following. She now has three more to add to her fan base; with my first purchase last Saturday, I've officially graduated from "stalker" status to loyal customer.

Fast forward a year as we visited from out of town and we brought this back as there was an issue with the item. We were told, "Oh that designer went out of business sorry." After taking the item out we were told to take it to a dry cleaner to fix it. Margaret seems generally happy to make a sale and take your money but God forbid if have an issue with a purchase you don't matter. Hearing from a relative that a friend purchased an item here, had an issue with it, and they were ignored I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment. Good customer involves not only treating someone well during a sale but also during follow up and subsequent visits. EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT MAKING ANOTHER PURCHASE. Shame shame shame...

For privacy reasons, I will not get into specifics about the things we discussed. However, I can say that before even sitting down, Emma confirmed what was on my mind. It is important to note that this was before giving her my name, age, or zodiac sign. Additionally, she knew things about me that a stranger would never know. Her tarot cards were extremely insightful, and I left my session with a sense of clarity. I highly recommend her, along with Uplifting Connections, to anyone who wishes to see a psychic for the first time.
