Recently I called at the last minute and got an appointment with Andrea because Emma wasn't working that day.

There's always…read morelike 20 people working and every single person from the books to the kitchen staff is happy and cheerful and so kind. Honestly, this is refreshing as corporations understaff and stress their employees. This local owner know what we the patrons want, we want people who are happy with their jobs and that's done by great staffing. This is my go to for any gift. Yes, you're paying more for a book than you would on Amazon but this is the opposite of a greedy corporation who screws everyone. This is truly local and I'm lucky to live 20 mins away.

My friend and I went on a weekday night, about 2 hours before closing so it was pretty quiet. I initially thought the bookstore was only on the first floor of the building but turns out it's a multi-story experience. There is a parking lot at the back where I parked and I was able to enter through the back door (not sure if this is the main entrance). On the first floor, they have some books, bathrooms, a check out desk, nick nacks (hats, stationery, puzzles, etc.), and most importantly, a coffee shop. The coffee shop was closing up around the time we got there so plan accordingly and do some research on their hours. as they are not the same as the bookstore. The books are clearly labeled by genre. After taking a stroll, we decided to check out the second floor which was supposed to have a little market, a stage where they host events, and some very comfortable couches along with tables and chairs. I mostly came to see if a book spoke to me, but also to get some reading in from the book I brought along with me. The lighting is good, although I sometimes prefer to have a dimmer setting for a cozier feel. We spent about 1.25 hours here, but we could have easily spent a longer time if it weren't so close to closing.

You could spend a good chunk of time browsing through the bins and shelves. It is great that they have a train table in the kids area so they kids can play while you browse the books. I was searching for Lunar New Year books, but couldn't find any. They had a bin for the big holidays like Christmas, Halloween, Easter and a general holiday bin for smaller holidays. The employees were nice and can system search by author/title, but they couldn't do a search by general topic/genre.

The Used Book Superstore in Burlington is my personal money pit -- and honestly, I'm fine with it…read more I've never managed to leave with fewer than ten books, and at this point, I don't even pretend I will. The selection feels endless. Every genre, every niche, and then, just when you think you've seen it all, there's a wall of Blu-rays, DVDs, video games, board games, and random bits of memorabilia you didn't know you wanted until they're already in your basket. The prices are almost insulting to other stores. Seriously, I've paid more for a cup of coffee than I have for some of the books here. You'd almost feel guilty... except you don't, because you're too busy carrying out a stack taller than your torso. The staff is excellent -- actually helpful, not the fake "let me know if you need anything" kind. They've tracked down what I came in looking for, and then somehow convinced me to walk out with three more titles I didn't even know existed. My shelves at home are groaning under the weight of their recommendations, but sure, suggest me another series. Why not. I've been a regular for about a year now, and as long as I live in Massachusetts, this will be one of the few places I actually look forward to throwing money at. You never know what you'll find here, which is exactly why I keep coming back.

Emploees will say hi in passing, giving you the opportunity to…read moreask a question if needed, and there's always someone at the info desk in the middle of the store. But for the most part, they recognize that a solid browse is usually needed before you'll be ready to check out up front. I admit, once I find my books I always (always!) take a right turn before checkout to do a solid walk-thru of the papers, calendars, binders, candy- everything yu need to have cool, pretty things on your desk or bookcase. And theyy get me every time. I ike that you can put a book aside to pick up and pay in store. Some times I'm not 100% sure that I'm buying the book I want, so it's handy to not have to pre-pay for a pickup. The selections on the tables up front are usually fairly interesting - mysteries, current releases, popular titles. There's always something there that I haven't read, or a great gift idea. Yep, people still like to give and get real paper books! While I keep a dozen or so ready-loaded on my Kindle, my first love are books that stay with you and I'm always gifting one to someone who I know still reads, or is learning to read, or doesn't know that they need to READ A DAMN BOOK! Because I'm only there to help! Go. Listen to a story time. Attend an author event. Or get a Starbucks at the counter and grab a table. There are many worse ways to spend some time quieting your mind.
