We hired Sturdy to replace some windows and doors in our home after finding them through one of the HomeAdvisor- or AngiesList-type websites (I can't remember which). The estimate process was pretty smooth and we had a quote within the week. They walked us through the materials they would use - which were very good quality windows and doors - and we chose the specifics to fit our home. We waited a few weeks for installation, but they managed to fit us in even with very cold weather. The installation itself was more than just swapping out existing windows and doors - we actually had them cut out holes in the house for a new window and new exterior door. They did a good job with this work and everything was sealed and insulated very well. My only gripe was that some of the finish work (casings, sills, etc.) wasn't up to our expectations. When we brought this up to them, they immediately agreed to make it right and sent another person out. They did a relatively good job cleaning up and disposing of waste, and the laborers were friendly. Overall, we were satisfied and ended up using them for a second job, which we were happy with as well. They aren't the cheapest out there, but they aren't the most expensive, either. I suspect that some of the additional cost is because they properly estimate and manage the projects. There were no extra costs as we went through the work, and they handled all the permitting with the city. read more

BEWARE: 50-year roof WAURANTY NOT REAL! Did a great job replacing my my roof 10 years ago with a 50-year waranteed roof and did good repairs in 2015. However, I started calling a month ago about a signficant leak, called at least 6 times and either never got a call back or was told they would call back in a few days to schedule. I was even told "we only have one guy doing repairs and he is busy." So take a crew and send them out a few days to do repairs! I now have significant leaking and staining in the ceiling in 4 places instead of one and they are still not responding. I left a message today that I will report them to the MA Office of consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, the MA Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau and I have still not heard back. read more

Horrible! Disorganized and incompetent! The subcontractors complained that Bobby Young was always making mistakes and cost them extra work. Most of the subcontractors were very new to Jeff Risucci of Sturdy Home and said they were poorly paid but needed the work. David Diaz did nothing to protect the home and never told the workers to wear masks in the house in the middle of COVID. It took them 8 months to do 90% of a small closet remodel and then they walked off the job. RUN AWAY NOW!! read more

I was contracted by Sturdy Home Improvement to perform work for one of their clients (constructing shelving and a work desk). I performed the work in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of both Sturdy and their client, but Sturdy failed to respond to any of my attempts to contact them for payment, despite the fact that Sturdy billed and received payment from the client for the work I performed. I have, sadly, had to resort to filing legal action in an attempt to receive payment. read more

I spoke with John and Adam and I couldn't be happier with the design and addition they installed at my house. Our Master suite came out beautifully. There is no such thing as perfect but how they responded and how they solved my problems is the critical reason for my 5 star review. Adam isn't perfect, Sturdy isn't perfect and I'm not perfect. Unfortunately a unreliable company who provides poor services. Recommend to get quotes from another company for any work you plan on having done to your house. Sturdy will come off having a competitive price, but they will hit you with extra charges after the fact. It's their way off getting their foot in the door to your house. They are inconsistent with their subcontractors which shows you their priorities of their business. Any good builder will have steady subs that they get along and work well together with. Sadly I'd like to saw this review was based upon the work they completed however after almost 8 weeks and three follow-ups I never got a proposal/quote for a simple job of finishing some space in my basement. Apparently they're not interested in work??? I took this as a sure sign they didn't value my business or have the expertise to come up with a quote they could live by. Unfortunately for them I had a much bigger job planned that would've been based upon the work completed on this little one if I was satisfied . Oh well I'll find someone else! I would caution anyone considering this company to look elsewhere. Ten years ago, Sturdy Home Improvement completely replaced our roof. The work was eventually completed several weeks after we contacted the owner, Adam, about finish problems. Now, 10 years later, the roof is leaking. After attempting to contact the company by email to the owner, and a dozen phone calls to their customer service number, they have not returned a single call. By chance, a man named John picked up one call a couple of weeks ago and assured me he would set up an appointment later that week. Never heard back from him. From our experience, both their work and their service are seriously sub par. They got our money, and we got a leaky roof and zero accountability. I am sure there are ethical businesses who would love your business. Sturdy Home Improvement isn't one I would consider if you expect quality, communication, and basic respect. No stars not an option unfortunately. Everyone knows Rome wasn't built in a day, but if Sturdy had that contract it still wouldn't be done after thousands of years. I signed a contract 15 months ago to have work done to expand my porch, convert a living room to a bedroom and convert a second floor half bath to a full bath. Last I saw of them was in April, 6 months ago. Promises weren't kept, calls went unanswered, and I had find other contractors to finish up the job they abandoned. Some of those contractors have worked for Sturdy and are owned money. For a long time. These are difficult times for everyone. Communicating issues that come up due to material shortages makes sense, but we chose materials that were in stock. They just didn't buy them. Months later, when we pressured them to move this job along, some of the items were discontinued. We had to purchase different materials on our own since they had stopped getting back to us. Just gotta thank adam, dave and bobby, wherever you are, for tearing apart my upstairs and walking away. You'll be hearing from us. read more

We hired Sturdy Home improvement to modify our kitchen closest to move our laundry area from the basement our kitchen..We were told they have all their own employees. the company has been around a while , The cost was middle of the road for price. We signed the contract and gave a deposit mid March 2020. The job never got started until April 13, 2020. They "sub contracted" workers from half way across the state. They were constantly late causing me loss of time from my job. They had no work ethic, made many mistakes, used our personal property, and damaged a few items while working. Finally after multiple complaints to the company from us, one of their workers and an electrician was brought in to rectify the issues. The job was finished April 10,2020. We have other improvements to do next yesr. But will not be calling on them. Also will not refer anyone to this company. Job is done and we should be happy but we are not. An Awful Experience with their estimator This company is very slow and irresponsive. A week after the guy came for estimation, I called the company and the assistant said I get a hold of him. She didn't obviously. I called his cellphone, he said the estimate is going to be ready tonight. After 2-3 days, he does't respond to his cellphone. The assistance in the company have no explanations. They just get my contact number, and probably trash it. They wasted my time. read more

Last year we had our roof replaced by Sturdy. They had a supervisor who told me that he "had the best job in the world". Later I learned why he said that since all I saw that he ever did was sit in his air conditioned car all day and performed no work and no supervision! While the real work was performed (in the heat), by some hard-working roofers. No complaint with them. However the work was not completed in time as the supervisor had promised - even telling me that he'd have 9 to 10 workers there to finish the job. Never happened. The huge dumpster remained in our driveway for weeks despite repeated calls to Sturdy to have it removed. It finally was removed only after I called the dumpster company itself. Sturdy never cleaned up the site as stated in the contract. There were materials and debris left around the house and they never scanned the area (as promised) with a magnetic sweeper to pick up all roofing nails. In fact, we are still finding nails occasionally that were never picked up - a year later! There was also some damage that was done to some of the house siding and instead of fixing the problem, the so-called "supervisor" only argued with me. Finally, I had to patch some areas up myself since we still had leakage in problem spots!!!! I would never recommend this company to my worst enemy. Find someone else with integrity. A number of neighborhood homes were getting their roofs replaced and I made certain to let them know to look for another company. read more

I hired Sturdy Home Improvement to replace my roof and skylights. I did not have a problem just wanted my 23 year old roof not to become a problem. Now I have a nightmare on my hands...the roof has not only taken over a month to get done, but it has continued to leak mainly around the chimney. In fact they are still not done, they ran out of materials, so still need to complete the task. Then they have to rig up my cutters because someone didn't realize they would not work with the ice slides they put up. They planned to just leave the bare wood showing on the inside of my house around the skylights. They painted over the water marks from a leak at my entry that still shows and not to mention the more than 100 nails I picked up in my driveway after they said it was all cleared. I wish I could give this company zero stars. We had ordered new windows for some rooms in the house. The installer was the rudest person I have ever met. He refused to wear shoe covers, he left stains all over my floor and did not clean up after installation, he broke the front of my heating unit, and he broke my bed frame. Not to mention he showed up an hour late without calling first. He did not let us inspect his work before he left and he practically cursed us out and demanded payment on the spot. When he left he kept my doors wide open and scrap materials sprinkled all over my floor. I called his boss and I can see this company has very poor customer service. Study did NOTHING to rectify the situation. I will be filing a formal complaint on this company. They have lost a great deal of business.. There was several other large and small projects I was going to have them do if they did a good job on the windows. Aside from the horrible experience I had with the company, they also incorrectly installed my windows. I will now have to replace them once again, but this time I will do it myself. read more

Don't fall for the fraudulent warranty offered by these folks at Sturdy Home Improvement. In 2012 they installed a new roof, not inexpensive, on my home and offered a 30 year warranty. In 2018 the roof began to spring leaks. I have made 3 attempts to contact them about this, all ignored. read more

NIGHTMARE CONSTRUCTION. The framing on my kitchen addition was done so poorly that the walls are not straight and both the floors and ceilings are not level. This is causing major problems with installing cabinets, etc. Sturdy's workers rarely showed up on time. Had to to beg them to show up. A 1-3 month project wasn't completed for over 7+ months and living without a kitchen for so long= major life disruption. This company never cleaned up nails & debris in my yard after the project was done. New french door does not work, installed improperly. I had a roof leak in the new addition Sturdy built. Project was over budget and way WAY behind schedule. You couldn't pay me to use Sturdy again. Stay far away! BEWARE. read more

We have a warranty on the metal roof they put in. In February there were 5 spots where the roof was leaking. Someone came out in April and tried to fix the leaks. All but one spot was fixed. We let the guy know right away and were told someone would fix it. Never heard back. Called weekly starting in August and it took until November until someone came out. The leak continued after this visit. We called back the next week and were "added back to the repair list." We have not heard back from them since. Since it is January, I'm guessing it will be months until they come back and it will have been over a year we will end up waiting. It is really, really fun having a large hole in the ceiling above my shower in 30 degree weather because they can't seem to fix the problem or care enough to come out again. read more

This company is extremely sloppy and likes to cut corners. They do NOT pay good attention to detail. They were hired to replace an aging roof on my home and they did the job very quickly, but without any regard to my landscaping and property. When I came home after their first day of work, I discovered a complete MESS on my front lawn, which included many nails, pieces of old shingles and attic insulation that had fallen on my bushes and landscaping, which violated the terms of their roofing contract. They were not very professional and the general manager of the company even made derogatory comments about his own employees. This company has a long history of customer complaints and dissatisfaction. Avoid doing business with these crooks at all costs!!! read more
