Then we heard about Monarch from her friend at school and are so glad that we came here! It's really beautiful! All the horses and ponies are gorgeous! The staff and camp counselors are super friendly. The kids are all happy to be there. They do arts and crafts, swimming & fishing in the creek, in addition to taking care of the horses and riding lesson. At the end of the day your kiddo WILL sleep well at night. I'm a little jealous she gets to spend her summer around horses! We will DEFINITELY be back next summer for camp and will look into there after school program this fall.

You will want to show up a little bit ahead of time because people will be lining up to get in once the reservation time opens and you don't want to waste your reservation time just waiting in line. Service was kinda off-putting, the lady was not very friendly and she also wasn't very clear about the wristbands and whether or not all of us needed them or if just the kids needed them. Other than that, the place itself was very nice and other staff walking around were very nice too. They did round everyone up around 5pm because of lightning storms within 10 mile distance so they have to clear the area and hold for 30 mins before they can allow you back, but luckily we were pretty much ready to leave anyway. Our reservation specifically included a picnic table so we had a designated spot with our name reserved just near the swimming hole. The nice part about reservations means that the place doesn't get super crowded. The kids really liked the swing but even just floating around was really nice. The water itself is mostly shaded by large trees so you aren't burning in the sun. Definitely recommend bringing food and drinks to enjoy a picnic out here, since they had one vending machine nearby. The bathrooms were super clean and not terribly far from the water itself so that was super convenient, as well as nice changing rooms! This was a nice way to spend the afternoon cooling down from the Texas heat.

Everything was very organized and the staff did a great job keeping things running smoothly. The water was great a bit cold but clear and so refreshing on a hot day. We also had a lot of fun using the rope swing! Just sharing a few tips: large umbrellas aren't allowed, but you can bring a small one, and you'll probably want it if it's sunny. There are some reserved spots available but they're very limited and book up fast. If you don't have one, make sure to arrive early because most spots are first come, first served. You could bring your own food and drinks but alcoholic beverages are not allowed. Overall, such a fun place to spend a few hours and cool off. Definitely worth the visit!

Their format is very organized and the instructors have no more than three students each session. We don't have to waste time with signing up for one class and waiting weeks before they can start the next level - even if they're already ready to advance. Instead, Flying Fish has specific goals for each level and each class your child can advance to the next level. Skill updates are provided by email by the Deck Leader during class as each child completes their skill. The instructors will likely be different for each class and they all do a nice job with the kids and follow the same routine. The facility is nice with large observation windows and plenty of chairs to watch outside the pool area. There are also a few elevated tables/chairs and guest Wi-Fi. There is a play area for little siblings to stay occupied or for some playtime before class starts. Showers, changing rooms and restrooms are available for families making it easier to get multiple kids cleaned up and dressed after class. A swimsuit dryer is available so you can spin their suits and not take them home sopping wet. Swim accessories are available for purchase - goggles, swim diapers, swim caps, etc. in case you need something quick. He said there was nothing he could gain from it, nothing that interested him. All he wanted to do was sit around the house all summer. I signed him up anyway... Needless to say I was nervous picking him up. When I got there he was hugging everyone and high fiving and talking about how he was going to miss everyone and how all of them were going to do it again next year. Even though he was away from his beloved cell phone for 12 days, he was much more interested in telling me all the wonderful things he did than texting with his friends! That's a pretty big deal there! This has been one of the hottest summers in Texas in a long time, but he never once said anything about how hot it was or anything else. The only complaint I heard from him was about powdered milk and peanut butter ramen noodles! What's even better is that he is happy to have gone but also happy to be home! He even thanked me for making him go on the trip!! The trip isn't cheap, but with the reaction I'm getting from my teen, I think it is WELL worth the money! I'm going to start saving so he can attend the 16 day Big Bend trip next year!
