I honestly wasn't sure about traveling with my 2 year old daughter on this tour, but Stunning Tours and especially our tour guide Hans made it a trip of a lifetime in just 10 short days. First off I want to thank our tour guide, Hans, without him providing fun jokes and facts, I don't think the experience would have been the same. I highly recommend Stunning Tours continue to keep Hans as one of their top guides. He cared for my daughter, helping to hold the umbrella on our rainy trip. Hans was the glue that held the group together. Hans made an effort to ensure we had a good time, and took extra care to address everyone's needs were met. He also had the bus driver stop by several places not listed on the agenda to maximize the experience...Hans called this extra service an "Upgrade". Second, in all honesty I'm an introvert so the fact that spending time with strangers on an 8 day bus ride through different cities did not excite me. Boy was I totally wrong, I met incredible people throughout the world. I felt we became a family at the end, which made it all the harder to say good-bye. We booked Japan 9 days delux (4* hotels) 9 months ago as part of our 40 days "asian bucket list tour". Very evasive information prior to the trip and 30 days before they canceled. All international flights and arrangements then already in place and not possible to make alternative trip arrangements. They "offered" to join the same trip but with 3* hotels and we had to accept. The trip was not 9 days but had one day for arriving and one for departing as well as two "free" days. Active tour then 5 days and consequently long days on the bus. Bus was nice but hotel very basil with the smallest and least comfortable rooms we have experienced. At several occations you wrre let off several blocks from the hotel to carry your suitcases through traffic. Brekfasts with very limited continental options and overcrowed small facilities. Our hotel in "Tokyo" located about 40 km outside the city center. Guide was very good and personal and helpt saving most of the back office shortcomings. Not a trip or agency I would reccomend to snyone. Most likely the first and last visit to Japan. read more

We had an excellent tour of Japan with Stunning Tours. Our guide, Suzuki, was great! We were picked up from the airport, and were taken by bus throughout the trip. Because of weather, we were not able to make it to the 5th Station on Mt. Fuji, but Suzuki filled in the time with taking us to two other great stops. The only reason I didn't give a 5-star is because communication before the tour was lacking. We didn't receive our final tour documents until a week before departure, and I felt I only received that because I was emailing and calling, asking for the info. I would have liked to have those 2-3 weeks prior to departure. The trip was a great price, we were taken to important and meaningful places, the hotels were all good (except for one on one night), breakfasts were good, and Suzuki was wonderful. We're so glad we took this vacation with Stunning Tours. Would I vacation with them again? Absolutely! read more

Let me begin by saying Stunning Tours really lived up to their name. Coming out of Covid and with airlines canceling flights all the time, I was a little worried. But Stunning Tours kept me well updated on my itinerary and assured me everything is on schedule. Once arrived in Japan, we were greeted by their super friendly local guides. They are extremely knowledgeable about all the historical monuments and attractions we visited, and worked tirelessly to make sure every guest enjoyed the trip. That kind of attention to detail and hospitality are amazing. And they can be funny too. The 10 days flied by fast, but we had a wonderful time and great memories. A stunning deal, a splendid tour! We did the Splendid Japan trip during cherry blossom season, and the itinerary, accommodations and guide were all fantastic. In fact, Edna, our guide, made the tour possibly the best organized sightseeing trip we've ever been on. She was funny, knowledgeable, and so helpful - making sure everyone understood how to get to the airport, recommending restaurants, explaining cultural norms, etc. Our bus driver was a rock star - navigating U-ies on tiny streets and always getting great parking, keeping us safe and getting us places fast with a smile. Gold stars for all parts of this trip - our guide got us through queues at rapid speed, timing our entries perfectly so we never found ourselves waiting around. Her stories and info during the drives kept us entertained and set us up for the wonders we saw each day. The hotels were clean and so well designed. Breakfasts were sumptuous (ice cream in the buffet? OK!), one hotel even had its own built-in onsen. All the food stops were fantastic, the itinerary was a perfect balance of being on the go yet having the right amount of time to see what we'd come for. We never felt rushed. We paid for two optional excursions and they were well worth it - when else are you going to ride a bullet train!? I would recommend this trip to friends and family - in fact, I plan to send my parents! Kudos to Edna and team for making our first trip to Japan so wonderfully memorable. My husband and I joined on the 11 day Spendid Japan tour in September. The process for booking was good. We bought tickets with air, but that was cancelled a few weeks after we booked, so we had to book our own flights. Which, of course was more expensive than what we initially paid when booking with Stunning Tours. Our emails were answered quickly. We were picked up promptly from the airport and sent to our hotel. Our guide, Mohini, was initially very enthusiastic and did her best. As the tour went on, we felt like the quality of the tour declined. In the beginning, she would give us history, etc and take us around the location if we wanted. Later on, we were just dropped off at locations and told to meet back in an hour, two hours, etc and no one could really find her. At some locations, we were stuck for 1-2 hours when it could have been a 30 min stay (ie: outdoors Japanese Garden in sweltering heat, Tokyo Tower literally 2 floors, not including the 2 viewing decks). Most of our group was at the meeting spot earlier than the tour guide by 30 mins. At another location (Meiji Shrine), we took 10-15 mins to walk there and were ushered back to the bus after only being there for 15 mins. We barely had time to look around. Asakusa was the best part of our souvenir shopping, but they dropped us there at 08:50 am for an hour when most of the shops opened at 10 am. We went back during our free day and it was amazing. Some places were closed, some plans changed (we tried to be understanding that covid changed things, but shouldn't this have been checked on the day before we left at least?). Two of the optional tours were cancelled completely and our tour guide left 2 days before we did. I think the worst part was when we were taken to Ginza (high-end retail) to do our souvenir shopping. No one bought anything because who has money to buy souvenirs from Dior, YSL, Prada etc? Not to mention, we have those stores in the US already. We were dropped there for 2.5 hrs. All in all, the tour was okay, but left a lot to be desired. read more

We booked a Japan vacay with this company. They were accommodating and offered the best deal. Their tour guide CINDY in Japan was A M A Z I N G. She was very knowledgeable and funny. She kept our long hours on the bus entertaining. Only reason I'm giving a 4 star and not 5 was because of 2 things. 1) the bus driver was rude. None of us on the bus appreciated him raising his voice to her on a few occasions because she was just doing her job making sure to show us why we couldn't see Mt Fuji (due to weather) and because another couple was about.10-15 minutes late and took it out on her. I'm not sure if his response was a cultural thing but regardless if it was... unacceptable for anyone to be treated like that. 2) Our last hotel was very nice in the Haneda airport. But... it was about 2 hours away from where they booked our actual flights to depart from (a different airport) Narita I International Airport and 1 hour away from the city center. Such a waste of time to be put up so far away and nothing in the surrounding area to do. So if you book with Stunning tours which I do recommend... make sure you're staying either in the city centre or at the right airport hotel you're departing from. I highly discourage anyone from using Stunning Tours. Our family of three booked in Aug of 2020 an 11 day tour of Japan in hopes that the COVID pandemic would be done with by April of 2022. Needless to say, international travel is still somewhat difficult and in early January 2022 we reached out to the owners of Stunning Tours to express our concerns of all the restrictions Japan had implemented (and as of 4/17/2022 the date of our scheduled departure, there is still NO international travelers allowed into the country). We were also reluctant to travel to Japan also due to personal health concerns and wanted to cancel out and get all of our deposit back. The owners of Stunning Tours advised us that they couldn't do that without implementing their $300 per person cancellation fee ($900 total). They advised us to wait until up to 2 weeks before our scheduled departure in April to see if Japan would open back up to tourism and they would possibly refund everything back to us. We saw quite a few negative reviews on Yelp,TripAdvisor & Better Business Bureau indicating that other customers were not receiving any of their monies back by the owners of Stunning Tours which greatly concerned us more! In early February, 2022 one of the owners, Peter indicated to us in an e-mail (which of course I saved and here was his actual comment to my getting our $900 cancellation penalty also returned) "We have to apply the cancellation penalty because it limits our ability to conduct the tour group when there are fewer people attending. And we cannot refund you the cancellation fee if the tour is eventually cancelled by us." So, not wanting to take the chance of losing all of our deposit, we made the painful decision to implement a refund process of our deposit knowing we would lose $900 of our initial deposit. The only fortunate thing to come out of this was we were refunded about $1400 of our deposit but we are still upset that Stunning Tours would keep the $900. Fast forward to April 19, 2022 and I find and confirm that Japan is STILL NOT accepting international tourists, so it goes without saying that this tour was cancelled, yet Stunning Tours earns(steals) $900 from my family and who knows how much more from other tourists that booked our particular tour. Stunning Tours is NOT TO BE TRUSTED! The owners are crooks and have no moral conscience. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS TOUR GROUP! read more

Wonderful trip! We were the first tour group to Japan with our tour guide Mohini-san to Osaka-Kyoto-Nagoya-Nagano-Tokyo. It was a bit rushed, but we got to see so many amazing places; so not a bad thing! We were treated to a stay at a Ryokan (traditional Japanese Inn) slept on tatami mat, wore yukata, and ate traditional food (not the best but good). The tour guides are not knowledgeable neither of Japan nor of how to manage a group. We were 2 groups each with a guide. Ours I believe had no experience as a tour guide. The other would take off at quite a pace leaving many people behind. The age range for this tour was 20 to 89. We had many people with walking difficulty and they ended up staying behind. This was unfair as they too had paid for the tour. The guides were often unsure of where and when to meet up after a visit. The optional tours are not a good idea as then they have to determine where to leave those not doing the tour. Most of the visits in the optional tours were free of charge anyway so I do t understand why we had to pay. We had the last 4 days left to ourselves. I would not recommend stunning tours. read more

Tried to cancel in 2021 but was told there would be a $300 per person fee totaling $900 regardless of the travel restrictions due to Covid. And we must wait until the agency to cancel. we have rebooked 2 more times and finally cancelled for the March 8 trip of this year. They will not process a full refund (still charging $300 pp) and on top of that I had my credit card hacked and was told that in order to process a refund on the new card it would be another 3% charge!! A beautiful (and super hot) 13 day trip to Thailand, marred only by a bit of disorganization, some confusion, and/or a lack of disclosure on all the extra fees you will pay out for required domestic flights when visiting Thailand and Phuket. You WILL pay extra travel fees when taking this tour, so take that into consideration when factoring the costs. This is after paying a required transportation fee, in addition to the other incidental expenses of a 5 city tour (most meals, excursions, etc). It's hard not to be a little irritated when you think you've signed up for an "inclusive" tour. While much of the sights are in fact, stunning, I suspect they're not as expensive as you'll pay through this group were you to book the trip yourself. Due to airline restrictions expect to be socked for additional baggage fees when flying from city to city. Understandably this can happen when travel agents book domestic flights in this area, but I felt as though we were not give enough warning regarding how this would be handled or the actual costs involved. It was definitely a "learn as you go" thing. The penalties for overweight luggage is considerable and numerous fellow travelers were put out by the extra cost incurred. Their lack of planning played a part as well, to be sure, but had they been prepared properly this might not have been the case. You will also visit sights where there is a lot of tourist traffic, and while these are definitely sights you'll want to see, be prepared to be among many, all doing the same. Ideally you'll have a good group of fellow travelers, as that is a definite unknown when agreeing to this kind of trip. We were fortunate that our group was kind and considerate of each other for the most part and got along well. All in all not the worst experience and I certainly enjoyed many of the sights we saw, I just would say that if you have any travel experience at all it may be best for you to go it alone and forgo the group setting. When dealing with Stunning Tours I'd suggest asking loads of questions and getting as much clarification regarding additional cost as possible so there are fewer surprises than what we experienced. read more

Ding Ding How! This is Americanized Chinese for very, very fabulous! And my 8-day adventure with Stunning China was just that--fabulous plus it was an incredible value. Our Stunning China guide for Beijing, Michael, was easy to spot. After gathering our luggage and shepherding us onto a comfortable bus, off we went. On the way to the hotel, Michael informed and entertained. And, he continued to do so the whole time we were in his care. Hotels were great, all of them--at least four stars. Big rooms, lots of hot water, fluffy towels, no need for electrical adapters. Good beds--I prefer a firm mattress, so I was very happy. We had been warned that there might be changes in itinerary scheduling, and there were. But we saw everything, just in a different order. There was a one day where our flight to Shanghai was booked later than I would have preferred. However, I took that opportunity to do a little neighborhood exploring (I saw a young woman dressed in her wedding finery!) and did some shopping at the neighborhood super-grocery. BTW--I never felt afraid when I was walking in the neighborhoods. We did visit some of the big Jade, Pearl and Silk operations. All began with a product presentation and then you were let loose in the showroom. You weren't pressured to buy, but if you showed just a little inkling of interest in something, a young lady would appear by your side asking if she could of service. The easiest way to signal you were done was to sit down and have a cup of tea. And speaking of tea, the visit to the Tea Plantation, was my favorite part of this trip. We had two guides in Shanghai-- Cindy and JJ. Like Michael, they took good care of us. Let's talk about food. Breakfast provided by the hotel was bountiful--American/European/Asian. The local lunches and dinners that were provided by the tour were delicious and interesting. If you are offered the option of having lunch in the hutong--grab it! Not only were we well fed, but we were entertained by the Cricket Master. There were times when we were on our own for meals. Sometimes I ate street food. Another time, a bunch of us went out for Peking duck--the real thing! Food was very reasonable. If you take this tour, make sure you are in shape. You will walk, walk, walk. You will climb, climb, climb. You didn't see any fat Chinese people! Our guides were particularly sensitive to Western restroom needs. They all knew where the three and four star facilities were located. They got five stars from the ladies on this tour! Customer service was excellent from beginning to end to a week after. Week after? Yes! As mentioned above, I had enjoyed the tea plantation. Even though I had purchased tea, I also wanted (but forgot) to purchase the tea oil. I visited all the Asian stores in my neighborhood and couldn't find it. So, I called Leo at the Rowland Heights office. He immediately hooked me up with a shop that sold the product I was looking for. Even though the product cost me more here in the States than it would have cost had I bought it in China, the cost was certainly cheaper than another trip to China. One final comment--It's a long flight there and back. I had a direct flight from Chicago to Beijing on Hainan Airlines and was treated very well. read more

Just returned from our trip and wanted to share some photos of the amazing places we visited on the 8 Days Best of Japan tour. We started in Tokyo, then to Kyoto, and finally in Osaka with stops along the way between the major cities. Every location we stopped at had something special about it. It could be the architecture, a unique food, or it could be a famous place that you finally get to see in real life. Free times allowed us to explore on our own and be able to enjoy the company of just the person we were traveling with. There is just so much to see and experience that you could never get bored or feel like you're seeing the same thing over and over again. There's definitely a lot of walking so bring comfy shoes and proper clothing for the weather! We saw a good mix of city and country life, traditional and modern areas, and through our tour guide, Aiko, learned a lot about what life is like in Japan, compared to what life was like centuries ago. She was very informative and she also taught us key words and phrases, along with proper Japanese etiquette and practices. It's good to learn "excuse me" or "pardon me" or "I'm sorry" more than anything because those phrases are used more than "thank you" in Japan. Our tour group was a good mix of people from various places, and of various ages. It was nice being able to meet new people and exchange stories of other travels. I have to give our group of 23 much credit for always being on time. When Aiko said to meet her at a certain time, we would all be there. Not a single straggler. Besides the great deals, Peter's customer service was truly above and beyond! It's really hard to find companies that truly care about their customers, and genuinely want to ensure a positive experience. Stunning China is definitely a company that cares. I highly recommend booking a tour with them. We may be doing that ourselves, again, soon! read more

If you're looking for a guide through Asia, I would look elsewhere. The experience I had with Stunning Tours was not one that I would recommend to anyone. I booked the 8 day tour to Thailand through their online form. 11 days after booking, the only communication I had received was the automated credit card receipt. No trip details, no communication from an actual human. So I called the number on the website and was directed to a girl named Dolly who did not give me any information on the trip, but instead asked me to email a photocopy of my passport to her email address. Not one that she contacted me from. Just an email address given over the phone where I should send my passport. Weird. Despite feeling a little uncomfortable with this scenario, I sent in the photocopy. 3 days later, I had not received a response. No confirmation of receipt, no acknowledgment. So I followed up. Again. The response I received was: I do apologize that the past couple of days have been chaotic for me due to promotions.. Thanks for sending over the passport copy. Here are the links to finish up the booking: Service Fee (tips paid to tour guide, one time payment): $80 required fee Single Supplement (apply for single travellers): $200 fee Airport Transfer: $50 optional fee. Wait - what?! I don't receive communication and then get a reply with 3 links for an additional $310 that was not communicated in the initial reservation? What is this?! And why am I required to pay $50 to get from the airport to the hotel? Isn't this a booked tour? Apparently not. From there it just got worse. I spoke with Dolly on the phone. She turned out to be just as rude in verbal communication as she was in writing. Asked to be transferred to a different agent. I was transferred to different person who said they would check on my reservation. After 1 week went by with no response, I followed up via email. After another week of no response, I called to learn that this new individual was no longer with the company. Apparently that wasn't an important thing to communicate to a customer. Finally, I was transferred to Henry, who made the rest of the booking feel smooth, until the last day on the trip. The guide was going through the tour bus to confirm everyone's flights. When he got to me, I learned that he was given the wrong information and had me marked as flying out a day earlier than I actually was. I was told that I may not have a hotel for the last night. He and I both began trying to work out the details but this was not the experience I was hoping for while being over in SE Asia. In summary: absolutely go to the country. It's beautiful and worth the trip. Just don't book through this company unless you want a completely disorganized booking and traveling process. read more

My husband and I used Stunning Tours to book our Honeymoon to Thailand and could not have had a better experience! We booked the 10-day Best of Thailand tour and are so pleased. We worked with Henry at Stunning and he went above and beyond to make sure our trip was successful. We originally booked to go in May but needed to change our vacation to March and Henry was so helpful and accommodating in making these changes. Once in Thailand we were accompanied by our guide Ellen until we left for Phuket. Ellen was FANTASTIC, she was so informative, spoke perfect English and was so funny! The transportation to and from the airport and around the country provided by the tour company was so easy and always on time. All of the hotels were clean and safe, but the stunner was definitely the Holiday Inn in Phuket. Beautiful property and amazing beach location. We recently took a week long trip to Japan with Stunning Tours. Gary our tour guide was great. That's where the good news ends. The last 3 nights were spent in Tokyo. We were dumped at the train station and left to find our own way to the hotel. Once there the entire group was angry to find that we were staying in a complete dump. Not only was the "hotel" out of date and dirty, it also reeked of cigarette smoke. Many of us tried to contact our travel agent, but no one heard back the entire time we were there. Sept 8-22 15 day Classic China tour This fantastic trip of a great country is one we'll never forget. Dolly of Stunning Tours did a superb job of setting up a terrific itinerary at a very reasonable cost. For the cost of a small group tour, we pleasantly found ourselves alone on a private tour for much of the trip. The agency's network of local travel guides went above and beyond all expectations. Local guides were a lot more efficient, effective and more knowledgeable than a guide that traveled with a group. The local guides were more invested in their territory. These guides bent over backwards to help us through a few self-inflicted traumas and a cancelled flight (due to typhoon winds) to Shanghai. They kept us on schedule so that we didn't miss a thing. In Beijing and Chongqing, Mike and Sherry got the buses to turn around to return a forgotten purse and a lost passport, respectively. To bypass the cancelled flight, Jackie, the Yichang guide, deftly got us on the very next train to Shanghai along with a personal tour of the 3 Gorges dam. Knowing we would probably miss dinner while in transit, the Shanghai guide, Ray, on his own initiative, got on the train a few stops early to bring us a few Mac burgers to keep us from going hungry. Mike, the Beijing guide, went to show us how to take the Beijing subway when we expressed a desire for a good Peking duck dinner. He even went out of his way to walk us to the front door of a highly regarded restaurant. Mike in Xian did a great job with a difficult group. I heard we missed an earthquake 2 days after our visit. Tina, in Chengdu, gave us an expert tour of the panda reserve. Cindy of the President 8 River cruise was a great help. Ray capped off the last 5 days of the tour by showing us the best of Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. And finally Linda got us successfully through a difficult time with airport security in Shanghai. And the drivers were terrific, especially in struggling with all our luggage. We kinda over-packed... From an ex-guide myself, it was a banner performance from a truly professional group of guides. Each one was very knowledgeable, very personable and always ready to make your trip even more enjoyable. They all gave us a fine sample of each regions' cuisine. A few times, some took us off the beaten path to see what few others had seen. Other agencies should take notes from these folks. This trip was a sort of heritage tour for our daughter whom we adopted in China almost 20 years ago. She clearly learned a lot about her culture. My family took the 10 days Japan tour. Our overall experience was very enjoyable. My special thanks to travel agent Rex Ruan and tour guide May Yoshida. Rex helped me with the booking and answered all my concerns promptly. We are mostly satisfied with the flights and hotels. Our flight was air canada , on time, short layover and good seats. Hotels are nice with lake views except Raddison in Narita. I would recommend stunning tours to change it to another. May went above and beyond to take care of everyone. She made the trip more enjoyable. I will definitely use stunning tours again. read more

I'm so late in writing this review but my memories of my amazing trip to Japan are as if I had just returned yesterday. This trip was a wonderful deal and the agency was very helpful in making our extended stay easy. The tour itself was great, I only wished I had booked even more time to explore this beautiful country! My friend and I arrived a day early so we were able to take advantage and spent a day in Tokyo before our group headed to Hakone and Kyoto. A day to get acclimated to the time difference was extremely helpful. Our tours included seeing Mt. Fuji, two and a half days in Kyoto and then several sites in Tokyo. We had two guides, Alejandra and Mari. Both were very nice and helpful. Alejandra was very attentive to the whole group and really took the time to get to know everyone. (I still message with her!) There were different age groups on the tour and it wasn't easy for everyone to keep the pace during the day tours. Alejandra was very sweet in making sure that all of us had a great time and stayed on track when getting from place to place. We skipped the optional tours in Kyoto to do some exploring on our own but joined the Tokyo tour when we returned. We took the bullet train (Shinkansen) back to Tokyo from Kyoto. I HIGHLY recommend this. We got to spend even more time in Kyoto which was definitely my favorite city. On our day tour in Tokyo, we saw several different sites that we wouldn't have on our own but with the amount of places they try to get you to and with dealing with traffic and driving around massive Tokyo, it might be better to have less places so you can spend more time in the ones you are able to visit. It was fine for us because we were spending an extra three days in Tokyo, but if we would've ended with the tour I would've felt like the trip was even more of a whirlwind. All in all this was one of the best trips I've ever been on and I highly recommend it to everyone. Japan is amazing and should not be missed!! read more
