What is not to love? Booze and throwing sharp objects! We've been axe throwing at another venue in another state, so this was not our first experience. What made this one extra special and above expectations is Jamie. She is awesome! Not only does she show you how it's done, but her excitement and enthusiasm keeps the adrenaline flowing. The person that checked us in was not so personable or friendly but probably because she was stuck behind the bar/counter the whole evening. Bummer for her and we looked beyond that. But once we got in and got throwing those axes, we all had a good time! I was just a third wheel gentleman at a bachelorette party but the young ladies still made me feel like part of the festivities, which was nice. Great fun! read more

I love love Stumpy's! Stumpy is a really cool space for a group or a date. 21 and over folks. Meaning no kids allowed I mean safety first. I enjoyed this space with a group of three for a friend's birthday celebration. When we first walked in we were able to purchase the packet package that we wanted and filled out all the necessary safety forms after completing the documentation we were able to decide what we wanted to drink. I was happy to know that they had vodka water in a can. That was my first time trying it and they had also other varieties of adult beverages, including different beers and other wines so that was fun, we were seated in a section that had tables. They also have a little areas with high tables for those who are not into ax throwing there's also Jenga and other large games you can play in groups to my knowledge they had an instructor informing us how to throw the axes and different safety precautions so I differently appreciated that I hit the bull's-eye maybe once or twice but a friend of mine who had on heels and Dress hit the bull's-eye almost every single time so every time you hit the bull's-eye the bell goes off and that bell was ringing all night long. This is such an awesome thing to do! I reserved a "pit" for my family on Thanksgiving weekend. 6 of us for 2 hours, and they gave my entire bill a law enforcement discount! Must be 21 and older, & you MUST have your ID on you. They serve alcohol here, and it's BYOF - yes. Bring Your Own Food!!! As much as you want. People had SPREADSSSSS. (But Stumpys also provides a little basket of snacks to your party as well). Closed toe shoes are a requirement. None of us had ever done it before, and Julian was AMAZING. He taught us all, and kept an eye on us throughout our time. He provided helpful tips, and by the end - everyone got the hatchet on the board. Saturday nights from 10-12 is the money/worth-while special!$25/pp for 2 hours. It's normally $25/1 hour or $40/2 hours pp. The atmosphere in here is so cozy too! Fire place going with other games like giant jenga and foosball around the pits. Comfy chairs to sit in and relax! & they're working on getting their permits to put in outdoor pits as well! We had so much fun! Party of 6 came in a Sat and had no problem getting a lane. Had Brady help us get started and he was great. Attentive and helpful but not overbearing. Went for a going away "party". I can't call it a party since the drink choices are limited/expensive and the food (little bags of crisps) left much to be desired. We thought we can bring dates that didn't want to throw for free but for a $15 entry fee, you can have the pleasure of sitting, watching and listening to the obnoxious loud music. Suggestion: Eat and drink before you go and meet the spectators at an after "party" that doesn't have a cover charge. Better yet, find somewhere else for your going away party. Had an amazing time! Just want to say that the customer service from this location is SUPERB! They are so accommodating! From helping me plan a surprise party from out of state to rearranging pits so I could set up the food prior to the reservation. They also made sure I had an outlet for my instapot! First of all : JAMIE IS AMAZING. We came for my boyfriend's birthday and she made it an absolutely amazing experience. The bonfire was everything and we plan to come back on a Saturday when it's really popping ‍ we would recommend a mechanical bull for the outside area that would really put this place over the top. I took my dad here for his birthday and we had such a good time. I mentioned on our reservation that it was his birthday, and all of the staff greeted him as soon as we got there and gave him a t-shirt. We were walked over to our lane almost immediately, and were given a safety rundown and pointers. It's harder than it looks! Where do I begin? First of all the only reason this review got more than one star is because our staff instructor was really nice and explained the rules for the people that were in our group that had never been there before. Second, being axe throwers on a league, we were disappointed that we could not 1. Bring our own axes and 2. Bring our own alcohol. Third, we did not have anyone to instruct our games or give us any type of direction of what games to play or what we could do to make our game competitive. Forth, we paid $25 a person and got much less than what we gotten other places we have gone to. Plus the alcohol we had to pay at the facility. Fifth, the way the boards were set up (from being axe throwers) we only stuck maybe 5 out of 40 throws. I'm not sure if this is because of the axes the facility chooses or the boards... but either way I feel like they were just trying to make money off of us and not for the experience of the clientele. Overall our party was not pleased the the $200+ we spent for our group. read more

Our NEW FAVORITE PLACE!! My husband and I went here this past Saturday for another awesome date night. We checked in for our 8:30pm reservation and were greeted by two awesome employees whose names we didn't catch. When we checked in we had inquired about extending our 1hr and made it two. Unfortunately Steven who we had requested was off .... yet we met another awesome employee Julian! He was a great teacher and very resourceful because I finally got the hang of it towards the end of night....just like our first time!!! I went to Stumpy's and had such a great time! We had a switch in our time but the owners and employees were so wonderful about making accommodations and made us feel welcome the entire time. We had Jaime as our coach and she was by far the best coach we could have asked for. She was so knowledgable and was able to correct us in positive ways while also being super encouraging towards our progress as axe throwers. I couldn't recommend this place and Jaime enough! It was such a great way to relieve stress in a fun, different atmosphere, while learning something new! read more

Went with my best friend who is use to knife throwing and Julian was amazing with giving us tips and tricks to get our ax on the board. It's such a friendly environment and so much fun! It was different from the other place I was at since the place in SC had wooden axes and Stumpy's has mainly metal axes. There are wooden axes upon request though so don't hesitate to go a little easier on yourself if it's your first time and then work up to the metal! But like I said, so much fun and Julian was amazing. Always checking up on us and giving us tips, he is super friendly too! I will definitely be returning but I'll try to make it on a Saturday since they have better deals then. read more

The only reason for the 2-star rating comes from the fact that one of the employees was literally hovering over us the whole time. Yes, I know they are looking to moderate safety but that's not what it was. The employee was stopping me like after almost every throw of the hatchet to show me how to throw better, where to stand, etc which sounds nice but in the situation it took away from a lot of the fun. I'm not trying to be a professional hatchet thrower - just trying to enjoy my time with friends. I was not being unsafe or throwing hazardously either. So I don't get why he didn't just let me be. He did not antagonize me, just really annoying on what was supposed to be a fun experience. Definitely killed the mood and for the price I don't think I'd go back. Just make a wooden target at home and get a hatchet from Home Depot - will get the same experience for a fraction of the cost. Staff was friendly though. Facility was clean. read more
