My neighbor has used Jose's and his crew for several jobs on his property. I watched the last time they trimmed his 50' tall trees. The following week I got a quote from Jose' to lace and trim 9 of our eucalyptus trees that had not been cleaned up in 23 years. If I could give Jose', Rubin and the other guys 6 stars...I would. I liked the job they did so much that a week later, I had them come back to weed-whip my property. They did a great job there too. Here's what pleased me... from the moment I made first contact with Jose, he and his team were very responsive and communicative. The estimate he provided was detailed and straight-forward, as it outlined exactly what we agreed upon. His price was competitive and there were no financial surprises. His crew was efficient, mindful of underground utilities, and cleaned up our property very well at the end of the day. I also like that they are a licensed, bonded company. As a property owner it is important to hire people who are qualified. The only thing I was uncertain about was my artificial turf was very lax / loose after the removal of the trees. One of the gentleman explained that a lot of top-soil had to be removed (tree roots) and unfortunately it resulted in a lax / loose appearance afterward. However, the guys did their best to re-secure the artificial turf areas with the nails. All in all I would recommend these folks. I already have personal contacts asking me for their info. I have used this company 3 times and I can not emphasize enough how good they are. They do a great job and have very good pricing is comparison to other tree services near me, but they just go above and beyond. They do so many little extra things , even rolled my giant trash cans up and down my driveway because the truck couldn't drive up to collect the trash. They are amazing! I would certainly use their services again. Jose showed up with an experienced crew that trimmed our huge trees; cut down unwanted trees; and, they safely removed a Palm tree that towered over electric lines and the house. Stumps were ground out, too. All were professional, polite and a delight to watch as they maneuvered safely in the trees. We wanted to keep some of the chipped wood for mulch and they dumped it exactly where we asked.They removed all the debris and the yard was made pristine again. As an avid gardener and retired landscape designer, I estimate that I have worked with at least a score of tree services over the years. Thus I believe that I am more knowledgeable than the average property owner about this trade. I recently interviewed several companies to do work at my Valley Center residence. The job was to include radical pruning of 3 ficus nitidas (2 very large and 1 huge) that had sustained major frost damage (burn and die-back), some native oak pruning and the removal of a large podocarpus and 2 sycamore trees. I decided to contract with Stumpmasters as the bid was very competitive for a bonded, insured and licensed contractor who carries workman's compensation, also because I was impressed with the owner, Leland "Lee" Silvasy, who Is a straight speaker emits traditional values. Because the business is small, Lee is able to provide personalized service, attention to detail and ease of communication. Everything from scheduling, start of project walk-through with the foreman, to end of job inspection is overseen by him. Lee is also very accommodating. When I needed to reschedule on day 2 due to an unforeseen issue, he sent the crew to another job and had them return to me the next day. Speaking of the SM crew, each one of them from Jose the foreman, to William the "climber," to Gomer the grounds' man were tops. They worked harmoniously in sync and intuitively knew what needed to be done without shouted orders. There was attention to safety and care taken not to damage any of plantings in work areas. And, they were very conscientious about cleanup. The result exceeded my expectations --- I recommend Stumpmasters wholeheartedly! read more

This is a top notch tree service company. Prior to the winter storms I had them remove some sick large oak trees that were overhanging my two story cabin at Palomar Mountain. I am glad I did it with the recent winter storms. They were very professional and were able to climb up into the trees and carefully cut them from the top down to avoid any damage to my cabin. They took the time to tie off the branches and lower them safely to the ground. The field crew was great to work with. Great outfit. read more

Lee, the owner, absolutely knows his business, and is a straight shooter. Without exception, they always go above what was expected.
