I've always wanted to try glass blowing, and Studio West in Eugene was the perfect place to finally do it! Alejandro was an amazing instructor--so patient, encouraging, and genuinely great at guiding our group of seven through the process. He made sure everyone felt comfortable and helped each of us create beautiful pieces of art. We made paperweights, a small bowl, whiskey glasses, shot glasses, and wine glasses. It was such a fun and memorable experience from start to finish. Alejandro also has a great witty personality--he kept joking with all of us and had us laughing the whole time. It made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was an incredible time, and I'd highly recommend Studio West to anyone wanting to try glass blowing! read more

Not only did Alejandro make two excellent glass liners for my antique ink/pen stand, he allowed us to watch him at work. We were glued to the spot, fascinated by his excellent work. Today Studio West Glassblowing had a special Glass Float Drop In event posted to their Facebook page. All we had to do was show up, no appointment needed, and make your own glass float. We got there fairly early and there were already a number of people there with more arriving every few minutes. We signed in and chose the color scheme we wanted, then Ciara and Alejandro would prep the molten glass ingots on the tubes for blowing. We were given very good instructions and shown the proper methods to use while we were assisted with the project. Taking a glob of molten glass, applying colors, blowing, shaping, reheating... this is such a creative outlet, not to mention really cool to have a beautiful glass ornament that you created. After the float is made, Ciara will cut it from the blow tube and make a small molten glass stand for it. The float is positioned on the base and adheres as one piece. It is then moved over to a slow cooling kiln where it will slowly cool down overnight. Tomorrow I get to go pick up the finished creation and bring it home. read more

Such a fun experience glass blowing!! My fiancé took me here as a surprise date and I loved the experience. Alejandro taught us and the rest of the group so much about glass blowing and demonstrated to us one by one how to create the project we wanted to!! I made an ornament, but you can make paperweights, wine stoppers, plates... so many options!! The next time I visit Eugene I wanna make more, it was so fun! read more

After watching blown away on Netflix. We were invited to go to a glass blowing class. We were here attending the NCAA track and field championships. We booked an early class and we were not disappointed. The instructor was very good and knew how to make us relax and have fun. read more
