One of the best wineries experiences I've had in WA. When we checked in, we were greeted with a…read moreglass of Prosecco, which was fresh and very enjoyable. The staff/owner, were incredibly friendly and made us feel truly welcome with her smile The ambience is modern and inviting perfect for enjoying a glass of wine. The restrooms were spotless and stylish, and a thoughtful touch was the dark chocolate in the women's restroom, which was a lovely surprise. I really enjoyed the overall tasting experience. The tasting menu included two reds and one white, all of which were excellent. The most surprising part came at the end, when we were ready to pay and the staff informed us that the tasting was complimentary. We were genuinely shocked and grateful, and we ended up purchasing two bottles.

I understand that it's a small, family-run business, but receiving multiple confirmations felt excessive and not quite the relaxed vibe one looks for while on vacation. That said, the property itself is gorgeous and the setting is beautiful both indoors and outdoors. We were seated outside, and the service was fantastic. Our sommelier was friendly, engaging, and made the experience enjoyable. She took the time to sit with on the parties and have a personal one on one chat .The wines themselves were excellent ,we even ended up buying a bottle. Overall, it was a lovely visit, but it's probably not a place I would prioritize returning to on a future trip.

The tasting room doesn't look like much on the outside, but felt like a gallery inside--old wood floors and spare furniture, lots of natural light. The owner was pretty unceremonious, but we did show up about 10 minutes before closing. We enjoyed a bottle at our leisure later. I'd like to go back and try their other wines on my next visit. The impossible-to-say name, you ask? It is the alignment of three celestial bodies, i.e. The sun, moon, and earth. Maybe they're growin and smokin somethin else alongside the grapes.

The tasting room lacked frills - a loveseat centered beneath a picture window, displays of Syzygy-branded merch, the tasting counter discretely tucked away in a corner, orange walls, art strewn about and a telescope (which was just another indicator of the cutie owner's preoccupation with the cosmos). Hunky AND a smidge nerdy = +1 star. Was a bit startled (read: let down) to see that we'd only be tasting four reds, but wound up pleasantly surprised with Syzygy's intense colors, big flavors and dedication to quality - not quantity. My buds were drawn to their two blends: one was a moderately priced $24 and the other was the Saros (a cycle used to predict eclipses of the sun and moon) at $45. Focus on producing great wine = +2 stars. My only gripe was with the object of my affection (a.k.a. the hunky winemaker owner) - he didn't necessarily exude an open/welcoming disposition and wasn't very forthcoming with details about his great product. Tough guy act = -1 star. Left with: * 2005 Saros 134 - 44% Tempranillo, 44% Malbec + 12% Cab Sauvignon = 100% deliciousness * 2006 Red Wine - 56% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 13% Cab Sauvignon + 11% Malbec Notable notes: * Syzygy's interiors could benefit from a womanly touch or some queer eye. * No whites here (varietals, that is). Return rate: 7 (out of 10) * I have a soft spot for the strong, silent type.

As my husband and I opened the doors to the building, a hallway with an upwards ramp greeted us. To the right, views of a room full of barrels holding the wines we were about to savor. Straight ahead at the end of the "tunnel," a natural soft light gleamed through floor to ceiling windows. And this was on a cloudy day. We reached the room full of windows and it was instantly the most beautiful tasting room I'd ever seen. I was so happy to be seated in the comfy swivel chairs right next to the window. Although the sky was overcast, it was so pleasant to rest our eyes on the clouds grazing over the rolling hills of the valley. A worker asked if we would like a welcome taste of their sparkling rosé, and we happily obliged. It was delicious. Afterwards, I did the tasting with the lighter wines, while my husband did the tasting of the reds. Of course we both shared sips of everything. A different worker gave us wonderful background info and explanations of each wine we sampled. He even suggested that we try one of the wines at the temp it was given, then warm the glass with our hands for a bit to see how it tasted at that temperature. It was really neat to taste the difference. Another worker with a cool turquoise bolo tie checked in on us and refilled our glasses with water. We felt so wonderfully taken care of. Every wine was delightful, but a few stood out the most... I can't quite remember them all but I believe we really liked the Sauvignon Blanc, a Grenache, and a Cab Franc. We didn't plan on buying bottles that day, but we hope to maybe find them at a store near us. In the end, we absolutely loved our experience at Echolands and vowed we would return the next time we're in Walla Walla.
