They were looking for hair models, so I decided to book an appointment, and now I've been there twice. The salon has a clean, minimalist atmosphere, and everyone from the stylists to the owner is warm, professional, and welcoming. It's also a teaching salon, which I love. It's inspiring to see the level of care, precision, and learning that goes into each service. I've been seeing Sabrina, a talented student stylist who will be hopefully on her own by the holidays. She's calm, attentive, and thorough and truly takes the time to understand what you're looking for. The prices are very resonance, and the location in downtown wheaton is perfect! Their website can be overwhelming when picking a stylist, I would recommend calling to discuss your hair type and what you want done. Highly recommend this salon!

I told the receptionist my hair type and that I wanted a stylist that could give me a suggestion and not do a very basic boring cut. Other salons I feel like I've just gotten overcharged for the same look and to get my dead ends cut off. They recommended Coco and she did a great job! Her recommendation wasn't anything crazy but it suited my lifestyle and looked more than just the dead ends cut off. She started off with a consultation, took off some of my length, washed my hair, cut, blow dried and styled. She took out a lot of the weight in my hair that prevented me from wearing it down but kept the length. She added face framing and texture. I could tell she took her time and made sure it was a great cut. She was very friendly and listened to what I wanted. All the employees here seemed great and I like the ambiance! I will definitely come back!

BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS!! You will be quoted one price and charged another price…read more I called to make a haircut appointment with the salon owner thinking she would be the best to cut my hair. I was told the haircut was $75. It includes the wash, cut and blow dry. I went to the appointment excited to get my hair cut and was greeted very well. The staff and owner are very nice. I explained to her that I wanted some movement in my hair since it has been over 2 years since I last got my hair cut. She began to cut my hair and everything seemed normal. After the haircut was done, it was time to blow dry my hair. This is when the owner and her assistant started working on my hair. The salon owner using a cheap blow dryer on one side and her assistant using another cheap blow dryer on the other side. Then the tugging and pulling started. Both of them are very bad at doing a blow out but I remained seated since this is part of the $75 service I was paying. I figured I'll just go home and rewash my hair and blow dry it myself and I would definitely get better results. Once they were done, I proceeded to the checkout and this is when the owner whispered to the assistant something. I didn't think much of it until I was told to pay $85. I paid the $85 (no tip) and left. I went home and looked at my hair in the mirror and looked at the back of my hair and this is when I saw that my hair was choppy. It definitely was not layers. My hair literally has 3 lines in it. It looks so bad. I cannot do a blowout or straighten it anymore because it ends up looking like I have extensions that don't blend with the rest of my hair. I was fooled thinking if I get my hair cut by THE OWNER would be better than the other stylists. But if the owner is this bad at a hair cut, I can't imagine how the others are.

Instead of just adding more bleach and damaging my hair more, she carefully went through and just lifted the dark hair closer to the roots without adding more bleach to the ends. Each blow out took about an hour to wash, blow dry, and curl which is really good considering how long my hair is. She always made sure I was happy with how it looked and always asked how I wanted it styled at the beginning of the appointment. There regular prices are very reasonable so I would definitely go back to Melissa. I also had her do a fish tail braid for an event and I loved it! So I would go back for just a braided style as well. The downtown location is convenient. The decor is kind of a funky style. Their was usually only 1 or 2 other stylists their when I went. The online booking system works but it not very easy to figure out. It also let me book outside of their normal hours so when I went to one of my appointments I thought they were closed. It turns out the stylist was there but hadn't turned on the open sign. Since the hours were before opening I thought it was a system glitch and left. Hopefully their online system gets a little better otherwise they may want to confirm by phone any appointments made through the system. I was also pleased the availability. They were usually able to get me in for a blow out on the weekends.

The shampoo room is literally designed like a mini spa and it is heavenly! Fringe has curly cuts for curly hair and I have also had great color services done here. The one thing I always struggle with here is scheduling, you do have to book pretty far in advance and often I have a really hard time getting a time in the evenings or on weekends. Most available times seem to be during regular working hours which is hard for those with a 9-5. But would definitely recommend Fringe for a great hair appointment and relaxing spa experience. BONUS! They have fresh baked goods and free infused or sparkling water!
