I started going to Red Hook Nails Plus in '09 and pretty much frequent the spot every time I'm on that side of the river (later today will be another one of those times). when I found out I'd be in Tivoli today for a business meeting, my first thought was... awesome! Nails Plus Mani Pedi will be a MUST before I head back over the Rhinecliff Bridge. I love this place for what it is, and wish there were a few more of them around the HV. The manicure is good but the hands of Gary and Lily together create pure comfort for my overworked legs and hands. The place is convenient to parking, clean and bright. Nothing fancy and not hectic, it doesn't feel like a 'nail factory'. The prices are fair and as marked. The polish choices are many and the courtesy and smiles are plentiful. English is spoken and they know and care for their clients. Oof. I used to come here a lot, and have had a few good experiences. This time was different. I got…read morea gel mani pedi. The manicure was great! I then got switched to another woman, who needs to quit. I had been there for an hour, and she kept stalling by giving me massages, which were extremely weak and hesitant. Then, I get to the bowl and she is filing me down and really just makes me bleed. I'm really bleeding. And still files on it while i'm wincing. It totally happens sometimes, but she was just so slow. She's doing all of this weird unnecessary prep. 30 minutes later my nails still haven't been started. She puts my feet in the bowl and starts spraying boiling hot water, didn't check it first. I got burned :/ and it's still red. She then starts massaging me...again. Then I eventually told her to get my nails started because I didn't have 3 hours to wait. The same woman from before starts my nails again, and they're great! It's very debatable if I'll come again :( .
