Burned my hair off and refused a refund. They offered me a visit to fix it which of course I did not feel comfortable letting them near my hair. They then offered a blow out...... Its a year later and im still growing it out. I had to pay a corrective stlyist else where - costing $700 ----- they refused to refund the $350. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I booked Le Shag to do the hair and makeup for my wedding on site at Full Moon Resort. They did an amazing job on me, my 5 bridesmaids, my two SILs, both mothers and all four of my flower girls. It was a wonderful experience! Everyone was really happy with how they looked, they worked with my mother who has sensitivity to certain products to ensure that she was comfortable, when my SIL asked them to make some changes to her hair because she wasn't 100% happy, it was done happily and quickly. Even more amazingly, they kept on schedule!! My photographer commented that he had never seen such a large group be finished on time with such high quality of work. read more

Spiffy location, quick appointment availability for a nice basic cut on shoulder length hair by a junior stylist. No extras. I even opted to walk out without a blowout, as I prefer to air dry my hair, and the weather was nice. I am a low maintenance person... I had thought the price was a bit high, but thought it was City Pricing moving up, so I paid and tipped appropriately. I now see that the tab was more than the price quote on the website for a senior stylist. Not sure what happened there, but I hope that if their pricing has changed, they update their website. read more

PSA: if you have curly hair, do not got here. I was suuuuper excited to get my hair cut and colored and when I arrived I showed the hairdresser photos of my favorite hair days in which my hair was curly and styled. I also told her a squeeze my hair with product And a towel or Tshirt to make the curls. I'm so sick of not being listened to--you show the photos and yet she still brushed my hair straight after the cut. That takes the curl out. Then, after it was slick straight, I asked for some product. She put a blow dryer on it for a sec and some product. So I left not being able to see the color plus looking like I just got out of the shower. In her defense, I told her my hair would dry faster outside. By then my hair was so slick with glaze and shine product, it wouldn't hold a curl and looked like absolute crap. I looked nothing like the photos I had shown her, in fact I looked the opposite.I think for almost $200 you should leave the salon feeling like a million bucks.Won't be returning. Please take this feedback and listen to your customers when they tell you how they wear/want their hair. read more

I had recently moved from Brooklyn and was looking for a salon up here. I've been loyal to my hair stylist for years (the amazing Agatha at Dvir on Franklin in Crown Heights) and swore I'd never change, but I couldn't actually see how to make it logistically work. Thankfully I read the great reviews of Le Shag and was able to get an appointment with MaryAnna who (for now) only works in Kingston on Saturdays. The salon is super cute and in a great location, but what really matters to me is the actual cut. I thought MaryAnna did a great job of checking out my hair and listening to what I wanted. She made some suggestions but saw I was pretty happy with what I had and basically cleaned it up, gave it a slightly different shape, and it looked awesome when I left the salon - and also awesome when I woke up the next day, which is the real test for me! She was also really easy to talk to and/or sit quietly, which always makes a difference as well. So excited to have one thing on my list of people to find here checked off!! read more

Overhighlighted and then overtoned. I used to love Le Shag, got great highlights there several times but I think it's gotten too busy and I really didn't feel heard at all. Wanted golden blond as I've always had. Stylist put bleach on, left me a bit too long while she worked with someone else. I went home and my family asked me why my hair was now white. Called 4x over the next few days to speak to my stylist about what could be done. Did not receive a call back so just made another appointment. I was squeezed in at the end of the day and a toner was put in my hair. Now my hair is drab and dark. I've since been told I need to try and have all the toner removed and have it done over. It's too bad because I think the world of my stylist, she's really kind and lovely to spend time with, but I'm really upset with my hair color and am now consulting with another hairstylist to see how we can fix the damage. read more

I had the pleasure of harassing the Le Shag Kingston team my entire wedding weekend. They put up with me on Thursday - when I had my hair and makeup trial (very last minute I know), Friday - when I had a blow out for the rehearsal dinner, and Saturday - when they did my entire bridal party's hair and makeup. Not once was anyone disappointed! First off, the salon is so chic, and right in the heart of Kingston. Norman that set up everything was fabulous and so kind! My appointments were on time, the artists and stylists disturbingly talented, and everyone made me feel at ease at a time that can feel overwhelmingly chaotic. One my wedding day the Le Shag team arrived at my venue before they were expected, and with smiles on their faces. The ladies got right to work! They made my friends and family feel comfortable, special, and so pampered. Their makeup and hair was sleek, modern, and with that subtle 'something special.' It was so refreshing to have talent that understood no one wanted to look like a cake face. So...book them! There aren't enough kind words I can think of. You won't regret it! read more

The most unprofessional hair salon!!! The man who colored my daughters hair is the worst. She was there for 5 hours for a haircut and color. The color did not come out as she requested. So they reapplied color. To make a long story short... all the color came out within the first 2 weeks. The color bleed on all her clothes and left a red ring around the collar of all her shirts. All my towels turned pink. I called the hair salon and explained the situation nicely to the receptionist and she said that she can see the man who did the color and he could fix it. Anyway a few days after that phone call my daughter went back to the salon and the colorist said no. What a waste of time! He said that the salon left me messages.... I never got a message. Then the colorist went on about "color process. " his tone was so rude that I couldn't take it... I said, my daughter is right there can you meet us half way and just make her happy and do something about the color?" Btw, that horrible experience cost us $300! Today was my second visit to the salon, and I had Mikaela as my stylist and she was amazing. I always have a difficulty time at salons. I'm not the usual clientele in that I don't spend a ton of time or give a whole lot of thought to my hair. I find that I also don't always have the proper words to describe what I'm looking for with my hair, or if I even have a clear vision. But today felt different. Mikaela took the time to understand my lifestyle, drill into what I wanted, and then implemented techniques to give me those things! I told her I really liked my hair when it was messy and felt organic and chunky. A pet peeve of mine is getting a cut (usually wet), then having someone blow and smooth it out in a way that I can never repeat in real life - leaving me with like imposter hair because it won't ever look like that again. She heard that, and then did the initial cut dry. Then, instead of the sleek blow out, she sprayed some sea salt (then told me I can make my own instead of trying to push a product), and took her time twisting and scrunching it in a way I can totally repeat, all resulting in a freaking killer hair cut. I was not impressed- my trim was uneven and ended up going to another salon to have it fixed. I asked for a face frame and layers which she never did. I didn't bother reminding her of the request because the lady couldn't even get an even trim- she took almost another inch trying to even it some. The stylist who fixed it actually asked if I had tried to cut my own hair since it was uneven and had all these strands. She felt bad that I had paid $50 plus tip that she only charged me half price. read more

I had been going to the same stylist for years in New Paltz and decided to try someone new since I wasn't happy with my last two colors. I work near Le Shag and always thought the atmosphere in there looked chic from the outside and figured I could give it a go! I went with Kara as I read a great review of her on here. She was super sweet, friendly and listened to what I wanted. She offered me a drink and I got some coffee, which really made my first experience feel welcomed. I asked her some advice about my current balayage and ombre from my old stylist. I feel like it came out a bit brassy and wasn't happy with the results. She let me know it's an easy fix with toner and I could use some half head highlights to brighten up my face for the summer at my next appointment. I was so happy that she actually took the time to let me know what I needed and it made me feel like she knew what she was talking about. My cut was fabulous! She made my hair feel alive again and cut off most of the brassy golds to make my color look more natural. I'm definitely going to see her again in May! I am a newbie to Le Shag but I will be a veteran. I needed a total change and based on other reviews I had a consult with Adrienne. She was very helpful and didn't rush me. I then made an appointment and gave her pretty-much free reign to highlight my hair with colors she thought would best accomodate my somewhat olive complexion. Wow! I LOVE MY HAIR! She was fun to work with and the shop is young and vibrant and awesome. And their sista spa upstairs does lash, facial and brow work and that's my next visit. Parking is a problem at their uptown Kingston location, so plan accordingly and bring quarters for the meters. read more

This is the first yelp review I have ever written, but I had to do so. I just had the worst haircut ever! I have super fine thin har and just needed a simple trim. The easiest haircut ever. I wont name the stylist, but she RAZORED and thinned out my already thin hair! I got home and the first thing my husband said was "What did she do to your hair? She really butchered it!". And he was right. Not only is it now beyond thinned out and practically see through, there is no style or shape whatsoever. I simply cannot believe it. It will take me a good two years to get my hair back as it grows so slowly. Stylists- DO NOT RAZOR ALREADY THIN HAIR! I am at a loss and will not be going to Le Shag ever again. Jennifer and Jessica were incredible for my wedding. I cannot say enough great things! During my trial, Jennifer was attentive, tried a lot of different options as we talked through ideas for hair and makeup, definitely going way above and beyond. On my wedding day, she made me feel completely at ease. She did my hair and makeup like we had talked about, incorporating some of my changes along the way. Both were perfect. Not to mention, Jennifer and Jessica made the ladies in my wedding party all look so gorgeous with modern styles that everyone loved. Might I suggest Jen's newest obsession, a cut aptly called 'Looks Like I have a Sex Life.' Run people, do not walk. This cut and color is off the charts fun and super sexy in a bedhead, I'm over 45 and I just slept with Justin Beiber/Brittany and left him/her exhausted as I boarded my tour bus kind of way. Although I used to only trust Jen to cut my hair (because she's amazing) I have recently had the pleasure of having my hair styled by Kara several times.
