On a hot tip, somebody gave me Vanessa's information and she actually made time for me! Not to mention, I came out of there looking and feeling way better than I could've imagined. She honestly did such a great job it was amazing. I started laughing because I couldn't believe how much of a transformation happened. I think she's just that good and thoughtful... Even if it's just my roots. Not to mention, she included the styling and blowout in her pricing. There wasn't a secret charge. And last, but not least, she seems like a special person. Very funny, smart, easy to talk to and relate with. Sunny disposition. Not fake. Completely authentic. Proud Santa Barbarian! All the things. I really enjoyed our conversation and think we solved all of the world problems in the course of 1.5 hours!

I will definitely be back in the future when in need of anything hair related - she's now my go to! Short story long: I locked my keys in my car right in front of this salon and had about 45 minutes to kill before roadside came to let me in so I decided to take a chance on fate and get my first hair trim in 2 years. Panicked and frazzled from the events of the day and scissors about to touch my hair, I could not have been in better care. Lisa was gentle with me, listened to what I needed, and did exactly that yet better than imagined. There was another family in shop when I visited and they were also very cheery and positive giving the salon a wonderful vibe. They had traveled all the way from Vegas and "just had to stop by to see Lisa while in town." When I heard that I knew she was really someone to be trusted. She trimmed my hair very well in about 15 minutes and charged me $20. While it might sound high and is definitely more than I would rather pay, the quality of the cut, her generosity of taking me in lat minute/no appointment, and her kindness was all worth it. I'd definitely recommend giving her a shot for hair cuts and trims, but please don't pull a Dani and help her out by making an appointment! While I don't die my hair, the family in shop while I was visiting was getting layered color and said they wouldn't have anyone else do it. If you do choose to stop by, definitely bring cash as that is all they accept here. Venmo may be an option but cash is safest.

Vickie Waite was one of the hair and make-up stylists for my best friend's Santa Barbara wedding…read morethis past weekend. While the other stylist, Julie, did my hair I jumped in Vickie's chair for some makeup love...and hoped when she was done with me you wouldn't be able to see the signs of last night's margarita hangover in my eyes. And she got the job done... Vickie mentioned that the bride had asked her to give everyone a natural look, but I'm one of those girly girls who loves a ton of makeup (the more...the better) so with the bride's permission I asked her to make me super glam instead. She pulled out the smoky purple MAC eye-shadows and got to work. Oh, and there were eyelash extensions involved too, which got me super excited. 30 minutes later I was very happy with the results and didn't ask Vickie to change a thing...and I'm not one to be shy when I think I'd prefer something else. And the other gals looked beautiful too when Vickie was done with them.

I had done two trial runs already with two separate hair stylists and was not very happy with the results. I finally found someone only TWO weeks before my wedding to do mine, my mother, and my sisters hair.... cutting it way too close. Unfortunately, three days before my wedding, my stylist had a tragedy in her family and could no longer make my wedding. Talk about a bride's nightmare! However my stylist had already contacted Vickie Waite for me and had given her all of my details, pictures of what I wanted done, and set her up as a replacement. I had never met her nor done any test runs, but I went with it and crossed my fingers. Vickie turned out wonderful! She came to our hotel, brought all of her supplies and extra just in case, and most importantly she worked with me and listened to what I wanted, even redoing my hair if I did not like it. She did a great job on my family, and stayed to touch up our makeup and help take pictures and videos while we were getting ready. I am very happy to have had her!

If you are reading this review, you are looking for a hair stylist in the Ventura area, and I can…read moretell you that you need look no further. Melissa Lyn is outstanding in every way. I went to her in November, a rush job I needed done just days before Thanksgiving. I found her here on yelp, just like you, and called with very little real hope of getting an appointment on such short notice, and pre-holiday at that! But the good Melissa Lyn was able to book me that week, and I could say that 'the rest is history' or that 'I haven't looked back', but this is yelp, and details are essential. I moved here recently from the bay area, and just as many of you are, I was dreading the needle-in-a-haystack search for a new hairstylist, and alllll that goes into it. It's important to mention here that just 6 weeks earlier I had been to a different salon in Port Hueneme, one that came pretty well reviewed on yelp, and well, I began hating my color within two weeks, and she totally jacked up my cut in the back. Melissa Lyn gave me the stylish color and highlights and flattering cut I wanted. That was two months ago, and when I saw her again for a root touch-up and a few more highlights just last week my hair STILL looked good! She truly is a genius with color and texture, and has an eye for precision in her cuts. And as so many others have said in their reviews, Melissa Lyn is one of the most genuine and delightful people I believe I have yet to meet. I wish we were best friends, too, because she is exactly the kind of person you just want to be around all the time Melissa Lyn's talent and skills as a hairstylist are only out shined by her amazing beauty and consummate vibe. Her blow dry was utterly amazing...I don't think I have ever enjoyed having my hair brushed and dried so much, EVER! And as an artist, she has a great reverence for her craft, and holds a spot among the best in her field by no accident and not by luck (or by faked reviews on yelp like SOME people do), but because she holds her profession with veneration. Don't waste anymore time or effort looking for a stylist...you just found one. Your hair and your conscience will thank you, and you'll be telling all your friends to go to Melissa Lyn, too!
