Over the years, Marsha has done both mine and my daughter's hair for regular cuts, styles and special occasion. She also cuts my husband's hair. Recently, my daughter switched schools and was told by administration that she need to change her ombré hair back to the natural color. Students are not allowed two-tone hair at this private school. She has had her ombré hair for over a year. I made an appointment with Marsha since I knew she would be able to bring the color back without harming her hair or making it look fake. Marsha did an amazing job on my daughter's hair. She only colored the bottom portion of her very long hair, it is was an amazing match. The previous bleach damaged hair was back to a normal healthy brunette hair. Marsha was careful with the colors and ensured that there were some highlights on the bottom so the hair did not look one dimensional in color. It was so soft and beautiful. In the last year, I had chemo treatment and lost my hair. Marsha cut my long wig to move and be more like my hair, since she has cut my hair for so many years. I received so many compliments on my wig and how natural it looked. Now that my hair is slowly growing back, Marsha has been giving me tips on how to style or play with my new growth. Marsha is honest and tells you why a certain hair style that you might be admiring will not work with your type of hair. I scheduled an appointment with the braider at that time. With this particular stylist at Goddess Salon thousand Oaks. I also scheduled an appointment with Christine another stylist that work in the salon to get my hair colored before getting it braided. By May 30th I had to cancel my appointment with Christine to get my hair colored because the braider was undecided on what she wanted to charge me to do the work on my hair(braids) . First she stated $600, then she moved it up to $800 later on 1,000. At the time of scheduling she stated that she needed to contact her Auntie to get a price due to the size etc. long story short I did not get my hair braided. Christine was aware of everything from start to finish. Now the story is gonna get long so grab some popcorn (you the reader of this review) I reached out to Christine to let her know that I would not be getting the color done and I tried to avoid giving her the reason why, I had to let her know because she wanted to know why I was cancelling. Christine let me know via SMS that the young lady was no longer in the shop anymore I wanted to communicate with Christine due to me scheduling an appointment with her for the hair color just not showing up because the braider was totally undecided on what price she wanted to charge me didn't set right with me, so I reached out to Christine to cancel. And that's when she let me know that the young lady was not there anymore. Well I didn't get the color done but I did sit in Christine chair on June 16th the memorial of the passing of my son. I was pleased with the style, That's all she did to my hair was trim and style after the service was done I asked her how much did I owe her she told me $45 I gave her $60. I noticed she didn't use any products on my hair no hairspray to hold my curls in place no moisturizer on my hair just trim and style. No big deal, I have been going to the hair salon since the age of thirteen, I know better,, again No big deal. I later on scheduled an appointment with Christine for a wig install. I reached out to her via SMS too see if she knew how to due wig install and she stated yes. The reason I asked her the question was because she's a little older and I wasn't to sure,, a lot of the older stylist will tell you up front the services they offer. Well not Christine, I knew something wasn't right when I asked her the question via SMS did she do the ball cap method and she didn't respond well I'm living proof of you live and you learn, when she did not respond that should have answered my question but I have been in desperate need of the right hair salon for quite sometime now and this salon is in walking distance of my apartment. Christine was totally unaware of what she was doing. She knew nothing about adhesive spray to bond my glueless wig yes it was glueless and precut, Christine used bonding glue on the corners of my edges I didn't say anything because that's really not a big deal I knew I could fix,, please keep in mind I'm paying for a wig install that I had to walk the stylist through. She used a straight band that I had to help her tie into a knot to hold the ponytail in place she did not have any hair ties, again no big deal I was paying her for her time really time that I did not have to style the unit and make sure it was secure. Not only did she clip my ear she burned me twice. I wasn't even alarmed by that I've had my share in the salon with hot curlers and hot irons all around. After I saw another lady jump in her chair from being burned I thought to myself okay maybe she just need a break. When I purchased the unit I got it glueless and precut because I take my wigs off every night and make sure my scalp is moisturized. When I took my wig unit off the same night she styled it on my head because she did NOT‼have any knowledge of how to install it after she told me she knew how. I notice a big bald spot on the hairline. I immediately reached out to her the next morning no response so I stop by the salon and approached her quietly on the matter. She stated to me that she had reached out to her lawyer ,,, yea her lawyer . She didn't have the decency to even respond to my text and the picture I sent so you called your lawyer? I have tried many types of extensions including Hot Heads which she uses. Unfortunately, most of the tape-ins rip out my hair. I've only found one brand that doesn't pull my hair out by the name of Easihair. Kristi didn't use their products and had a heck of a time getting the tapes for them, but she went so far above and beyond to get what works for my hair. She really got to know me on my consult and learned how active I am so she could best care for my hair and she nailed it! A few arduous days later she was rushed to the hospital and fell into a coma. 68 days in the hospital. 1 1/2 months in a coma. 1 month in a physical rehab center. She has undergone multiple forms of chemotherapy up to this day. Through it all, she continues to keep her head up. She has received countless blessings and having her with us today is a blessing in itself. Her most recent combination of medications in chemotherapy resulted in her losing her hair. A common side effect of treatment. After two years of being strong, keeping her faith, and having good humor, I witnessed a side effect that isn't labeled on any medication. She didn't feel beautiful. My grandma has always been and continues to be beautiful in my eyes. The fact that she saw herself as anything less, broke my heart. People say, it's just hair. True, it is just hair when it's a choice. When you lose your hair to illness, it can effect you more than a drastic haircut you know will grow back. All my life I've been told how beautiful my hair is and how I should never cut it. Like I said before, it's a choice. It's my choice.
