This is the second tattoo that Joe has done on my arm. His professionalism, patience and attention to detail made this experience worth every penny I spent. He was also very kind to offer me breaks in between the tattooing. While I declined them, I did appreciate that he was willing to take a pause for me. I personally get all my work done by Reid. But everyone that works here does fine work. First piece that I got done by him was the eagle and it came out great. Reid is super easy to work with. He always brings great ideas to the table and has superb solutions for tattoo ideas that haven't been finalized. You can tell he really loves his craft. In the email they didn't even give me an estimate for a half/full sleeve so I should've seen the first red flag. I get there and finally meet Jay and I speak to her about my idea and what I want but for the most part give her creative freedom. She leaves and comes back with an idea which I love, did the placement and we start. All is well, no talk about payment yet (I should've brought it up at this point but it was my first big piece and I wasn't sure how to go about it or wanted her to feel disrespected about my budget) An hour or so in I'm suffering (my fault for not preparing) and she notices and gives me brakes but somewhere in between is when she finally asks about money. She asks "what's your budget?" As if it matters now that the stencil and ink is on me now. I tell her naively "6-700" at this point I don't think much of it she just nods her head. Towards the end of the session I needed a minute, we're not even done. I'm walking up to the register and I ask "So how much will it be with how far we got in this session" she looked at me the then the receptionist and just goes "700" I look at her kind of shocked but I'm tired so I don't say anything. As time went by and I got more in the scene and inked more I realized she calculated when to ask me and what to ask me. I was wearing shorts and a t shirt so she knew I wasn't inked up and it was my first time. I felt taken advantage of for being new in the community and not having much knowledge. I have multiple tattoos now and four years later this is the worst experience I've ever had. I finally have the courage to speak up about it.

Neither of the designs were complicated or intricate...just some 3-5 inch ones. If you've seen Billyjack's Instagram page you know the man can do some pretty fabulous, complicated pieces so my stuff wasn't exactly anything that was automatically going to get his artistic juices flowing. And that's what I love about Billyjack. Even on when you give him a fairly simple concept, he'll make sure he makes it more and special. The most important thing he does in my opinion though is that he acts like a partner or a consultant, not just an artist who's going to execute the design you bring him. My experience down in New Orleans with the other shop was one where it was kind of like "whatever you want, man". I didn't need that, I needed a strong guiding hand and that's what I got with Billyjack. I threw out some ideas and he pretty much said what would and wouldn't work and then expanded on what would. Oh, and he's a blast to talk with. How many tattoos have you had where you and the artist have covered: dogs, kids (OK, those first 2 are pretty easy), rent relief policies during COVID and Roth IRA's. And laughing the whole time.

Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience at all. The artist who worked on me seemed inexperienced, and the process didn't match what I was told. What should have taken around 30 minutes was discussed as taking several hours, which already felt off. In the end, I was charged $200 for a cover-up that I'm extremely unhappy with--especially since it's on my face. To make matters worse, the artist didn't follow through on what was promised. He said he would work on two tattoos but only did one, and even then, it wasn't what I asked for. I specifically wanted a design resembling stitches, but instead I was left with a large black feather on my head that I deeply regret. The environment also felt unprofessional. The staff came across as dismissive and made me feel judged for the tattoo ideas I wanted, which added to an already negative experience. Overall, I left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and unhappy with both the service and the final result. I would not recommend this shop. Are there any tattoo shops in the area willing to help fix a bad face tattoo once it heals? I'm worried it might scar, and I'm trying to figure out my options. If anyone has experience with cover-ups or thinks removal would be a better route, please let me know. I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations--this is something I'm stressing about and want to fix the right way. I'm not trying to bash the entire shop, because there seemed to be some talented artists there. However, I do want to warn others about my experience with one specific artist. The artist I worked with--whose name may be Ivan or Isaac--came across as confident, but in my opinion did not demonstrate the level of knowledge or experience I expected. For example, when I asked about certain techniques like blood shading, he didn't seem to understand what I was referring to. That raised concerns for me about his training and experience. Again, this does not reflect everyone at the shop, but based on my experience, I would personally not recommend working with that particular artist.

I was getting my boyfriend a tattoo for his birthday which was 08/07 went up there for them to have…read moreno walk ins ok cool . so we make an appointment on 08/09 remind you when I booked I payed $100 for deposit. joslyn told us the tattoo would cost $450 cool . So we get there little late 15 min for her to not have the picture drawn out when she she knew we was coming ok cool. joslyn decided she wanted to change the tattoo to make it more noticeable when she really could've keep it the same ok our fault we should've never agreed to the change ok cool . So she finally done with the picture and it took her till 5:33 to actually start on the tattoo when we got there at 3:15 . So that was already weird Because why it's taking so long for you just to draw out the picture ok so she start at 5:33pm and I know it's that time because I started recording soon as she started tattooing ok cool. Next my boyfriend was in pain no lie cause it was hurting but it wasnt to where he wasn't sitting down, he was letting her do her thing ok not even 30 min in she like yeah you should come to a 2nd session I'm like for what he sitting here taking it no because that don't make sense . So at 6:20 she stop tattooing to put numbing cream on when she wasn't suppose to do that but she did and I told her no because you taking time you suppose to be tattooing like what girl no . So she stop and said it's going to take 30 min to numb like what why you wasting our time just finish so boom she put it on we came back at 6:50 she had left which is weird ok so we waiting on her no she come back at 7:05 we go back inside for the numbing cream really to do nothing to him but it did help just a little so he sitting there taking the tattoo for her to stop again at 7:50 to say you just gone have to come back for session 2 when the shop don't close till 10pm and it's going on 8pm . I'm looking lost like why you just stop like that for her to say ohh I don't think you gone take it . Like what ? He was taking the pain no problem. she just didn't want to tattoo no more but had the audacity to say oh yeah come back session 2 and ima charge by the hour . Like what you stop not him . then gone charge us 350 for a tattoo Thats not even worth that price . Just for a snake on his wrist with 3 letters . She keep changing up her story saying she charge 100-150 per hour right but then back door and say half sleeve are usally 800 how your prices don't match boo then gone say you was trying to do us a favors how ? When your work dont even scream 800 for a sleeve . If I knew she was going to switch up I would've went to somebody I really wanted to go to and payed they price instead of going to her . Her work cool but it ain't fire . BE AWARE WHEN BOOKING WITH JOSLYN . She charged us over price for her not even to be working on the tattoo 2 hours !!!!!! Mad wasn't the word she's not an artist because if she was she wouldve just finished the tattoo instead of being greedy and not even finishing the tattoo but wanted more than half the money. RED FLAGS ARE THERE ! worst experience everrrrrr!!!!
