I stopped in here to get a to-go drink. This place seems to be a great spot for game day. There is…read moreoutside seating under a sturdy, open structure (think carport) with TVs outside. The inside has side entrances that open to the outside area. Three major gripes... The place is wheelchair accessible as far as getting on the "porch." There is a ramp for it. But when asked whether there was a ramp to actually get inside to order a drink, we were told there is none. Disappointingly enough, none of the employees came near the entrance to make ordering easier. We had masks on, they did not, so it did not make sense why none of them came closer. The bar had no other patrons. Next, I am admittedly more apprehensive about sanitation, or a lack thereof, now. I was a bit taken aback that the whole process of making drinks and taking our order was done without gloves. I would not have cared had the bartender simply made drinks but squeezing the lemon and dropping it in the drink with her bare hands rattled my spirit. I don't know--maybe I'm being too anal. I just think proper hand washing or sanitation is more important than ever during COVID. Third, my friend was sure his Crown Apple was mixed with something else. We drink it enough to know. LOL. On this point, I will not say with 100% certainty it was diluted or mixed, but he was certain it was. Overall, I do not think this bar is terrible. It's a typical Metairie bar that sits in the middle of the suburbs. I also do not think it's unwise to stop in for a drink or to hang out. These are just my complaints.

In fact, now that I think about it, most West Bank bars are in strip malls. After a long night out a friend wanted to stop at Murphy's. I had never been, and am always up to try new places, so I agreed. Inside there are several pool tables, regular tables, a jukebox and a machine to test your punch. We grabbed a seat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender. I was amazed at their selection of beers. Sure it is called the brew house, but other WB bars I have tried have been pretty limited in their selection. The jukebox is an internet connected one, so you can pick pretty much any music. The crowd was fairly friendly. One drunk patron did want a group hug in honor of Whitney Houston, but other than that, no weirdness took place. If you are looking for a WB bar that is open all the time, and has a great beer selection, check out Murphy's.

This is basically a sampler platter of apps. It had 2 mac and cheese pancakes, 6 pizza rolls that looked like Chinese dumplings, and 4 PB&J wings. The pizza rolls were good, the Mac and cheese pancakes were ok, but the star of this show were the wings! They were tossed in a Strawberry pepper jelly and peanut dust and then they give you a peanut sauce to dip them in. These were great! During the week, the kitchen opens at 5pm and that's when we got there. At that time, we were probably the youngest people in there and I am damn near 50. I am more of a daytime/ early evening bar visitor these days, so it was perfect for me. The back courtyard area is very nice for those fall/spring days and the bar area inside seemed to have a lot of character. They also have a stage for live music and comedy shows. All of these areas are not very big, so it still has that neighborhood bar feel. They have a different food vendor on weekends, so you won't get these wings then. The bartender was friendly and fast, food was great and the atmosphere was chill. I will definitely be back for a full order of those wings.
