So glad we had an opportunity to reserve tickets (highly recommend you do) for this intimate musical experience. It highlights the incredible talent, creativity, passion and FUN these artists have for jazz and their instruments. Feeding off each other's energy and really had you moving in your seat. Front seats are WORTH the money!! Each artist got to highlight a song of their choosing and each one ATE! They left no crumbs. I must have been a smiling fool in the 2nd row seats, but music, personally, is the best way to get through me. Years in music myself, I understand the dedication and commitment it takes. You FEEL that here when they are on stage performing. Jazz and its spontaneity and history is the cornerstone to Preservation Hall. I LOVE that there is no recording/picture taking allowed (unless the artists strictly tell you otherwise). It helps keep their art intact but helps immerse yourselves with them into their craft. Living in the moment. The last song they kindly let us record/take pictures and I will treasure them until I can come back. Side note: that trumpeter (I believe his name was Will?) has a VOICE as smooth as velvet and I was mesmerized. Video shows a brief moment of the night.

Think- jazz in your living room and about 80-100 of your friends. Bring cash to tip the band. I wish I would've known to do that. Merch for purchase, including CDs and Vinyl. No videos or photos during the show. The time goes by so much quicker than you imagine. Def leaves you wanting to come back...

When I arrived, our IDs were checked and then we were let in. AFTER we were let in, two people let us know there was a 10 dollar cover. Whatever. I already paid for the show so am I really just gonna leave there? I ask to pay with card, and am told there's tax on it. Sure. I get it. Electronic payments are all catalogued so it makes sense there's tax. However, I see the itemized bill as it's being brought up. It says "$11 cover". There's a separate line for the tax under it, but I was definitely charged 11 for a cover PLUS tax after that. I ask the workers if there's a mistake, and they say it's the tax. I point out that the tax is below that, and then they say something along the lines of "you're acting like we want to rob you, I don't get any money out of this." The place to insert my card is then pulled away from me as I am removing my card from it to pay, and am told "You don't have to pay for it if you don't want". As I already paid, I point it out and I am offered a refund. At this point, I just want this to be over and I enter the courtyard, down $44 dollars for a show I thought would only be $20. As I enter, I hear them yell "douche" over and over at me. This sort of soured the night for me and we left soon after that. If you're a regular here then I'm sure you enjoy it, but it is not for new people and it is definitely not a welcoming environment. The food smelled good at least.

They are really good but I think they could be better. The crust wasn't as doughy and perfect as other pizzas I have had in the past and the thin part sometimes just fell apart. But flavors were on point and good for a classic pizza. Make sure you tip well and make sure you tip Michael making the pizzas in the back cause when he is there I felt like the pizzas were 10x. The ambience is like a tourist spot with high in and outs, but also with a cool treehouse looking bar. Music is a vibe so it keeps people in and out. And service is always quick and on point. I would recommend this pizza if you are around here.

The crust was thin and crispy. After reading some reviews suggesting the ranch sauce, we asked for some. It was dill-icious! We had the leftovers the next morning and it was amazing the 2nd time around COLD.

If not, there are plenty of other comfortable seating options scattered throughout the bar. On the weekend, there's always an amazing band playing and they often encourage dancing. The drinks are delicious and you can order from the bar or there are servers walking around who are friendly and helpful. We were there after jazz fest, and it was extremely crowded so we ordered the bar, took our drinks and found a comfy seat in the lobby where we could chat. We may have seen someone famous while we were there so always keep an eye out. It is a popular spot for people visiting the city.

The bar is very whimsical and has a rotating bar that turns like a carousel, hence the name, and it is obviously a favorite seeing as how It was overflowing with people every time I walked by during my stay here. Although it was super loud and busy inside, I really did feel like the bartender was doing his best to stay on top of everything and get to everyone and be friendly while still keeping a calm demeanor. The drink I had was well made but definitely expensive. The whole experience was definitely something I will not forget. I want to be honest and say that I intended to go twice before I actually stopped here, but the amount of people and the chaotic feel made me opt to do something else with my time. However, I knew I had to stop at least once during my visit and I'm glad that I did. My visit wasn't that long but it was memorable and I'm definitely glad I did it. This spot is just too iconic to miss, so don't be discouraged if it's very busy, it's definitely worth it experience at least once.
