Kay and the faculty are very supportive and attentive to all the kids, regardless of their level. They keep a careful eye on who needs what kind of work and suggest classes accordingly. It's remarkable how well they know each kid, and everything they are dealing with both in and out of dance. They also enforce a policy of all the kids being nice to each other. Everyone applauds for everyone else, everyone thanks the teacher at the end of each class, everyone works hard and is supportive of each other. The studio is growing along with my daughters, so that there are always challenging classes to take and interesting things to learn. They have been given wonderful opportunities not just to perform and to compete, but also to do things like dance at local cultural festivals and for seniors in a care facility. The studio is also very respectful of family time and homework time, and many of their dancers are also honors students in school. My daughters have learned not just how to dance, but how to manage their time, how to be responsible, and how to support and nurture others. I was immediately put at ease by the friendliness and the diversity of ages, sizes, and shapes of people that I found taking the class with me. After my wonderful experience at the workshop, I signed up for beginning modern jazz. Tracey Durbin is an amazing teacher! I was up-front with her about my lack of experience and nervousness. You can take a dance technique class or a movement/fitness class. I've taken an eight-week hour-long modern and contemporary. I've also taken the dancehall workshop (one three-hour class) which was high-energy and a lot of fun. Most of the adult classes were at night, which was great to attend after work. (This was before COVID-19, of course.) Now classes are virtual. I recently signed up for a virtual mediation class that will take place for four weeks during my lunch break -- perfect while I'm working from home. This is an amazing workout that makes you forget you are exercising. Jazzercise combines the best of both cardio and strength training in every class. I love that I can sing along to songs I hear on the radio, and not just top 40. There is something for everyone; country, Latin, classics rock. It's all there. And the best part, the next day when you get out of bed and start to feel the soreness in your muscles, that little reminder that you did workout. All that came from an hour on the dance floor. Speaking specifically about the Fuquay-Varina location: the ladies are incredible. I have done Jazzercise all over the country and at each center I feel like I am walking into a friend's house. The Fuquay location was no different. This center was my lifeline when I moved to Fuquay. I did not know anyone here, but every day I would take an hour away from my moving boxes and go to Jazzercise. I was always greeted with a hello and a smile, and sometimes a hug, from the instructors. The women in class were warm and welcoming. Best of all, this is a no judgment zone.
