Micky is THE BEST! She's been cutting my hair my whole life (25+ years of experience) and there's no one who can cut my hair better than her. Her haircuts are also therapeutic. Some cuts, we have great conversations about life and travel. Other cuts, we're just chillin, listening to music. Micky can be flexible with scheduling in case I'm running late or something changes. She's very understanding. Her cuts are pretty quick and efficient, and I always leave the studio looking sharp. She really knows how to accentuate your best facial features through a haircut. if you're an Asian-American man reading this, I highly recommend getting your cut from Micky. I've tried other barbers all over LA when I lived over the hill for college, and not one of them gave me as good of a cut as Micky does. Just got the worst haircut of my life :)) I came to Mikey because I read so many good things about her here. I've never paid $40+ for a haircut and it was the worst. It's a lot shorter than I asked for. As soon as I came in she seemed like she was in a rush to get me out the door. While shampooing, she scrubbed really hard & it made me uncomfortable. Micky is awesome! I had my hair cut a few days ago at another salon but I only really trust Asian stylists with color since my dark, thick, straight-but-also-wavy hair is a challenge, so I asked for a color appointment here. The salon itself is simple. Don't expect one of those places that are sterile clean. Not to say it isn't clean, but it's not like those really fancy overpriced salons. This is a family run business that has character, I'll leave it at that. Micky is hilarious to chat with. I never felt bored talking with her! She's spunky and sweet at the same time. Hair stylists take on a unique role of not only doing your hair but entertaining, and she's got that down. In terms of the hair itself, I showed her a photo of the color I wanted and she immediately went, "Hmm. Two tone. I'll be right back." She definitely knows how hair works, because my hair turned out the same colors as the photo I showed her. Additionally, she told me what colors to shy away from with regards to my age and skin tone. She used some products on me that she also sells but didn't pressure me to buy any. When I paid, she said that next time would be cheaper since it would just be a touch up. Yes I am a male, and yes I go to a HAIR SALON for my monthly hair cuts. Why? Because Micky is simply the best at what she does. I met Micky back in 2006 when I was looking for someone to fix a haircut that a barber had completely botched. I have ridiculously straight Asian hair that's really hard to cut, and so yet another barber had failed to meet my expectations. However, even with what little hair I had left, Micky managed to make me look normal again, and I left the place with a big smile on my face. Ever since then, I've absolutely refused to let anyone else touch my hair. That may not impress you all that much, but let me also add that I lived in San Diego from 2006 to 2014, just over 150 miles away. Doing the math, 12 hair cuts per year x 8 years x 300 miles round trip = 28,800 miles total that I've driven in my life to get my hair cut from Micky. Still not impressed? I now live in SACRAMENTO, over 360 miles away, and I still have no plans to let anyone but Micky cut my hair. Am I crazy? Probably, but she really is just that good. I challenge you to find anyone in the SF Valley or even the entire LA area that cuts hair better than she does. The best part is that I never even have to tell her what I want or how to cut my hair. I only need to say "long" or "short," and she takes care of the rest. Her eye for detail and talent for knowing just how to shape my head is something that still impresses me to this day. Whether you're a male or a female, Asian or not, go see Micky for your next cut and you'll see what I'm raving about. BTW, here's a tip. Make sure you call beforehand to get an appointment, or you might end up waiting for hours. This is especially true on Saturdays. Still worth it, but it'll save you a lot of time. read more

She will also give you advice about how to cut and style your hair. I really loved getting my haircut here. Micky cut and styled my hair. I had called at first to ask for a price, because I'm a student and don't have that much money. Since it was my first time, she gave me a discount, which really helped because I have a lot of hair. She also set up my appointment the same day. When I arrived I noticed a lot of on an older crowd, but Micky is really experienced and knows all kinds of hair. She asked me what I wanted, and I wasn't really sure, just that I wanted bangs. Micky also recommended that I thin out my hair and add V layers, so I trusted her with that. She went through my hair thinning it out and adding the layers, she cut out all the damaged hair, but still kept it long so I can tie it up. She then added product, blow dried and styled. My hair looked so great! The texture felt great too! I guess the way she did it, it made me face look really cute too. I haven't had a good haircut in a long time, and I totally loved it.
