Studio Des Amis is a hidden gem in Prairieville! The building is so cutesy, quaint, and filled with charm! The vibe is welcoming and inviting! The stylists are all so talented and friendly. I absolutely adore Erika & Lindsey. They are both amazing at what they do and have incredible personalities! They keep the laughs and positive energy flowing. Their team is great too! I love this salon! It's such a cute building with great style and vibes. Everyone working there is very nice. I see Ally each time I go. She has such a wonderful personality and is so talented at what she does. She is very realistic about what style will work for you and what will not. She is so kind with such a bubbly personality! I have had one hairdresser for the past 10+ years while living in Arkansas. I had been looking for someone since moving to LA until I came across this salon. Lindsey seemed highly reputable so I went today and decided to give it a shot. I am SO glad I did! It's a super comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and engaging. I was asked if I would like a cup of coffee, which I thought was a very nice gesture. It is also clean which is important to me. Let me just say, Lindsey is such a kind natured person who has a very sweet and laid back personality, yet very professional. She is extremely easy to engage in conversation with as well. She is definitely someone I click well with and did a fantastic job on my hair!! I love the hair products she used and also loved that the hair dye they use is ammonia-free. I love this salon! I just started going here during the fall of 2013. Each time I go to a salon, I worry about snootiness...coming from a large metropolitan areas where I almost always received snootiness from a salon employee! The motto of this salon - "Arrive as guests, leave as friends"...there is much truth to this. I found about this salon after buying a Living Social deal. As soon as I walked into the salon, I was greeted by my stylist - Megan. She sat me down and had a brief consultation with me about my hair. From there, she was able to give me tips on what needs to be done with my hair. I was then asked if I wanted something to drink! I immediately felt comfortable and knew my hair was in great hands! After all was said and done, I was very satisfied with my hair style! I was even given a code to use on their website in order to be able to book my next appointment It was so cool to receive a card "thank you card" in the mail from Megan, in addition to a discount coupon for my next visit! I had a great experience with Kylie but I was told by a friend who goes to the salon that the Brazilian hair treatment I was getting was $250. My regular hair stylist charges much more so I decided to go to Studio Des Amis. I always like to tip 20 - 25% but the service was $300, which was $50 over what I was told. I tipped her 20% anyway because it came out well but $360 is a lot of money to spend without knowing up front the price. I also asked how much she charges for a color and cut? Kylie told me she,"charges new customers by the hour because she does not know my hair." Once again, "How much does it cost?" I wanted to be a new customer but I like to be informed about how much a service I am asking for costs in advance. read more

I feel very fortunate that Brenna Merritt was able to color and style my hair on Friday , Nov. 18,2016. Because of the mid August flood, we are living in South Baton Rouge while our home is being rebuilt outside of Baton Rouge. So, I read several good yelp reviews before calling Studio Des Amis. Brenna Merritt is listed as junior stylist, but don't let " junior" title discourage you from asking for her. Today I only had time for a color and blow dry-style. My husband and I had a party to attend and Brenna did a great job on my shoulder length, somewhat thick hair. She explained what color she was using and about the high quality of the products they use at this salon. Several friends complimented my hair at our party, and I was extremely happy with not just my hair color and style; I felt that Brenna and the salon owner both helped choose a hair color and tone that complimented my fair skin. Honestly, I have been going to my home state, Virginia, from time to time to get the professional results that I now have found right here in Baton Rouge. Thank you to all of the Yelp reviewers who recommended this salon! The people who work here are friendly , warm and caring. This is the absolute best experience I have had in Louisiana at any salon . It was a pleasure to not have to worry that I was Going to have a color mishap( I've had a few bad hair colorists in the past elsewhere ) The salon owner also helped choose what she considered the best color for me, and Brenna mixed up two batches of color and did a great job all around. First off, everyone here is very friendly. But I feel I have to leave this review to give a warning to the curly girls out there: I have thick, curly hair and it seemed like the hairstylist did not know what to make of it. They also clearly did not know how to blow dry curly hair to make it straight - instead of blowing it out, they blasted it with heat all around and then fried my hair with a flatiron. My hair was more damaged coming out than when I went in. They also told me I "need" a keratin treatment, which made me feel hopeless. I have been to multiple salons across the U.S. and they have always advised against this (even though they can make more money on it). read more

As others have said, the staff is very friendly...but, I had around a 1/4 inch around my hairline from the color and the hairstylist told me to go back to the hotel and scrub it myself! I was floored that she didn't even try to get it off and let me walk out with that color stain!! When I went back to my original lady, she mentioned that I had different colors thru out my hair that did not match. Not sure how they cut but not going back to get color!! read more

My husband and son had their haircut at Studio Des Amis yesterday and it looks absolutely terrible!!! It is uneven and choppy and I'm not sure it can be fixed without their bangs being chopped even shorter than they are. Their hair is so botched it is almost comical. Unfortunately, we will always remember this horrible haircut since my son has school pictures in a couple days. We will obviously never return to this salon and do not recommend it to anyone. I'm really just shocked that this place is in business if this is how they cut hair. read more

I decided I wanted to chop off my hair after getting tired of dealing with long hair for a while. I looked up Top 10 hair salons in BR (I'm not from the area but I was visiting there for the day) and Salon Des Amis came up. I gave them a call and I was able to get an appointment in. When I arrived, I showed the stylist (Sarah) the picture of a lob and blonde hair. I told her I understood it wasn't possible to get my hair that light and I was okay with caramel color - more feasible and less damage. She insisted she could do highlights and get me somewhat close to the picture. I told her I worried about highlights because I did not want a streaky look. As she was doing my hair, I was annoyed that she was getting color on my face and skin. I asked her if my roots would be blended since the foils stopped at a certain point, and she assured me that the highlights and everything would be blended. At the wash station, she got my back completely wet and she was not gentle at all. For the reveal - I noticed my hair was filled with streaky highlights, my roots were not blended, some color spotting, and uneven haircut. I was horrified, but I was not comfortable telling her as her whole family was sitting next to me. The total was $200+ (NOT WORTH IT AT ALL esp with a stylist of 16+ years of experience - I was unhappy and embarrassed by it). I tried to contact the salon but I found they were closed on Sunday and Monday. I reached out to the stylist on Facebook. The owner did agree to refund me $50 and the stylist offered to redo my hair. I declined the redo because I colored it myself to hide the streaks and color spots. Overall, my experience at the salon was horrible and I would not recommend going here. read more
