At the end of the appointment, I was asked to sign a sheet to book to schedule my next appointment without a deposit. However, no one contacted me for over three weeks. Because of that, I had to go online myself to book and was required to pay a deposit. Due to the scalp tension and significant hair breakage for my first visit, I decided to give my scalp a break and not proceeded with the next session. I canceled one month in advance. I reached out to request a refund of my deposit or a courtesy to use it as a credit for a future date, at least a couple of in the future. I explained I only booked online because no one followed up after I signed the appointment sheet as instructed. The company only offered to push out my appointment for two weeks later to use my credit. I did want to keep my appointment, however, I knew I needed time for my scalp to rest and to let my hair grow out a bit more, which is why I requested to use the credit in the future, within 3 months. However, since the company was being extremely inflexible and not understanding, I expressed that I wanted a refund on the deposit. The management refused to offer any such courtesy or return the deposit. While, the braids looked great aesthetically, they defeated the purpose as a protective style. They were not functional and were far too tight, even though I told the stylist I had a sensitive scalp, and it was my first time getting braids. I also experienced a lot of painful tension on my neck from my baby hair at the back of my head being braided. Additionally, the styling gel that was used also caused significant breakage to my natural hair, which was very distressing. Overall, the lack of communication, poor time management, tight styling, disorganized scheduling at time of appointment, and inflexible refund policy outweigh the nice looking braids. The company prioritizes their profits over customer satisfaction. I could've been a long time and loyal customer had I gotten a tiny bit of grace and empathy.

Super easy to book appointments on their website... but this last visit it seems like the appointments did not open until the "day of"... they may be tweaking their booking system, but if you wanted to book something days in advance (like I was) it was difficult. I've been going to see Emily who takes care of the cut pretty well. There have been some times where she gets super backed up so I wait - even when presented the option to have someone else (that is free) to do my hair. My problem is that I am getting older and I just really like sticking to the "plan" and not having to explain my haircut a million times to new people. Also a problem when getting older, I like convenience so this place is not that far from me. It has a parking deck (CLUTCH) and is super easy for me to get seen here. Staff keep this place (like other Shears) clean and enjoyable to visit.

I don't think the management here is very good. There is a lot of turnover, which is a indicator of bad management. A lot of of the stylist I have grown to love over the years, have moved to completely different salons. The stylists have never complained about the management, because they are professional, but I get a sense that that is an issue. Still, on the hole, this is the place I still go to get my haircut and still am able to find excellent stylist that can basically give me any cut that I want.

I called for a same day appointment explaining that I wanted everything shaved off. When I showed a picture, Joey knew exactly who to put me with and filled me in with the look and the verbiage for what I was going for. I knew to come to a barbershop rather than to attempt this again myself or to go to anything like a salon or a quick clips for the shave. I was amazed though in a barbershop of all gents that they were so interested in me and why I wanted to go for the cut. A bunch of teddy bears! and so kind and welcoming. I really needed this.
