    Megan is very friendly and knowledgeable. The store is beautiful and has a great selection. Staff really knows their stuff, I will be back!

    Horrible customer service experience tonight with Lisa and the manager on duty. It's sad to think of other customers having to go through this kind of treatment. I came in around 8pm and at 8:30pm asked to have fabric cut--30 minutes before closing. I was told they could only cut three fabrics due to it being so close to closing time. We had wanted 6 fabrics cut but decided not to push the issue. Lisa cut two, then stopped early to begin closing down the store. At 8:53pm--still before closing--she refused to cut the last fabric, claiming it would take "5 to 10 minutes" to cut one piece of 3-yard fabric. That excuse is absurd. Measuring and cutting fabric is basic service, and there was still time left before the store officially closed. When Emerson stepped up to help, she was directly told by Lisa and the manager not to serve us. This was after we had already spent about $150 on fabric and other items. Refusing service to paying customers who are well within store hours is unacceptable. I understand not wanting to keep staff past closing, but when a customer is in the store before closing time, they should receive service until that time--not be dismissed early. Tonight's interaction was dismissive, unprofessional, and damaging to Michael's reputation for customer service. I will be escalating this to Michael's corporate management, because I believe the company would not condone the way this store treated its customers.

I opted to upgrade to the remotely controlled motorized model powered wirelessly by Somfy. The staff selected a complimentary fabric for the blind based on photographs of my great room's decor. The blind quickly became one of the best improvements I've ever made to my house. No more cold weather draft and no more direct sunshine causing overheating of my TV room in the warm months, and speaking of which, no more glare on the TV screen! After four years I am still happy with my purchase and for the assistance of the shop staff. I had a sofa and two…read morechairs reupholstered--pieces with clean lines and no removable cushions--and it is now clear their staff lacked the skill set required for this style of furniture. They got my order wrong. I requested a cream sofa with gold trim, and gold chairs with cream trim. I got a gold sofa and cream chairs. They offered to reupholster the furniture at no charge, but I already had been without furniture for 2 months and did not want to be without furniture any longer. So I had the sofa recovered in the cream. The workmanship itself was subpar. There is now a visible zipper running partway up the back of both the sofa and chairs where there was originally only a seam. It looks like a gash and completely detracts from the otherwise elegant design. When I raised this concern, I was told the upholsterer couldn't figure out how to fit the fabric without adding a zipper. This should have been communicated to me in advance so we could find a better solution--or so I could seek a more experienced professional. Furniture that was originally made without visible zippers should have been reupholstered the same way. As it stands, the zippers are an eyesore. There are wrinkles in the fabric in the corners of the bench seat of the sofa and chairs. The foam is lumpy in the arms. Communication is poor and misleading. I had to call multiple times to get a call back when inquiring about the status of my furniture. When my sofa was recovered with the cream fabric, I told them again I do not want a zipper in the back. I was told that there was no zipper. Guess what? There is a zipper. I was also told when the sofa was delivered, an upholsterer would come out and do a blind stitch on the zipper openings to make it less visible, but no one came. It wouldn't have worked anyway. I paid for the service and there was no receipt. I had to call and request a receipt which was promptly emailed to me. On a positive note, Ackerman's does offer a wonderful selection of fabrics, and the office staff were helpful in sourcing materials, ordering samples, and suggesting alternatives to help reduce costs. Overall, the quality of work did not justify the high cost of the project. They may be better suited for more traditional furniture with removable cushions, but I would not recommend them for more tailored, modern pieces.
