I'd been growing out my natural dark hair for two years after a decade of intense bleaching and dyeing, so there was major damage at the ends and a messy/abrupt ombre from deep brunette to coppery blonde. I've always had anxiety about taking length off (and have left many salons in a panic about it) because my hair is a brat and looks very odd with most cuts, but my stylist absolutely nailed taking the damaged ends off and preserving/accentuating the original "style". Mind you, this is the day before my wedding. My hair was orange because of a botched job that was done on it a week previously. At this point I am hysterical- I call Hi-Maintenance and tell the owner about my crazy predicament and beg her to take me for a last minute 4-5 hour hair appointment. She was incredible, she told me that she was going to call one of her girls who specializes in balayage color and see if she could take me and if not, the owner herself said she would. Lauren calls me, I tell her what's going on, and she rearranged her entire day to help me. Not only that, but she did an unbelievable job. I will be driving up there from Plymouth MA every 8 weeks to see Lauren. Best customer service I've ever experienced.

She gave me amazing advice and steps on how to start my curly hair journey. She said once a week to provide castor or olive oil to my hair (any brand but make sure it's 100%). The other week to provide protein to my hair (Aphogee) so it won't be so dry and brittle. The other week to use Olaplex so my hair can be strong and shiny. Ever since I followed her weekly treatment plan for my curls they are now full of life and bounce I really can't believe it! Last week after not blowing drying my hair for almost a year, I went to Maryluz and she recommended amazing products for my blonde hair and my curly hair. I also didn't want to originally even dignify the response from the business owner because it was extremely defensive and actively not true but I might as well along side my happy update: Hi Ashley, What you said is not true. I very clearly stated that I wanted my roots done, which was clearly need at the time as I had let my roots grow out to about three inches. My roots were bad and i was coming to you guys with a very simple task. The first thing I was told when I sat in the chair (and was previously told when I had gotten a haircut there prior) is that I have "a lot of hair". The implication that my amount of hair is a burden to the stylist and therefore means she will not have enough time to do what I asked is ridiculous. If you can't deal with curly hair, then say that. What you do is have the respect to me and for yourself, to say im sorry i can't do your hair. "She tried to accommodate you best as her schedule would allow without turning you away" that sounds like a problem with her schedule also you could have JUST TURNED ME AWAY. I would fully understand if someone said that for whatever reason they couldn't do my hair, I would prefer that to what happened. "Your ends had a previous color on them" yes and I made that clear in booking and in the appointment that I have previous color. "You were charged for each of your services because the 1st service was a partial foil and the next was to complete the rest of your hair to make it a full foil" I asked to get my roots done, i did not have that happen for some reason, yes roots is a partial foil. But what she did was put them on the front of my hair for some reason and on half of my roots. The 2nd service was a redo to fix the mistake YOU GUYS MADE, the only was to fix the mistake was to make the rest of my head match. I was charged for an appointment to fix the mistake you guys made. I am most upset about them money wasted (god i can't believe I tipped both times, but I was a freaked out teen who was just trying to be nice) and your attitude. The work was incompetent, and instead of saying, we're sorry for the bad job done by a stylist who (if im not mistaken was still in cosmetology school) or for miscommunication during the appointment (though I know I was very clear on the task of lightening my roots to match the rest of my hair). Instead I was gaslighted down into thinking it wasn't a big deal (that you ruined my curly hair that was down to my back) and that it was my fault? I had been getting my hair bleached for about two years at that point, i knew what i was asking for. I would still lovingly accept a refund and proof of certification for that stylist.

I have already gotten compliments on how smooth and shiny my hair looks. Not only am I thrilled with the result, but the experience in the salon itself was so positive and such a delight. Brigette, the owner and head stylist at Rooted, is knowledgeable, patient, and kind. She and I talked at length about color options for my hair and she was so understanding while also offering really good advice/photo options that would work with my hair. That made it easier to visualize and she made me feel confident that the end result would be exactly what I wanted. When I was done and about to leave the salon, a walk-in came by with questions about product. Even though the salon was closing, Brigette spent at least twenty minutes speaking with the woman, offering advice and recommendations, and never pressuring her to book. She truly loves her craft and it shows. I have to mention the interior at Rooted. It is like a dream salon. There are multiple hand made wood furniture pieces, such as the work station counter top and shelving to hold products, that contrast beautifully with the greenery and vintage-esque furniture. I love the vibrant wall art near the shampoo station. They also have a lot of nice snacks available for clients, such as pretzels, bars and even a basket of apples. Thank you, Rooted!
