I walked into a lovely salon and was treated by Amy K. She was fun, enthusiastic and promised that when she was done my hair would be healthier and look better than ever! That was almost 3 years ago. Amy K. is the only person I trust to go near my hair. She has truly amazed me with her ability to achieve any crazy hairstyle or color I threw her way. She's kept my hair healthy through a year long experience to become ash blonde, and truly outdid herself this past appointment with a breath taking oil slick hair color, both vibrant and healthy! Bought a Groupon deal for a haircut and deep conditioning. Gave it to my step-daughter to use, as she had a special event and needed a haircut. We were also adding an updo service. We were really excited for this service based on the great Yelp reviews. Arrived and did not get a warm fuzzy from any of the staff, we were barely acknowledged. My 14-year-old step-daughter sat in the chair and we showed Jackie photos of the style she was hoping for. It was carefully selected based on her hair thickness, length, and her dress style. Jackie indicated it wouldn't be a problem. I very clearly specified half up and half down. I showed her a photo of a style we wanted to avoid, and it's one my daughter had in the past and she wanted something completely different. I sat down in the waiting area and let them do their thing. About 40 minutes later, I checked in and her hair looked great, pretty much what we were looking for and indicated as such. You'd think, based on that, this would be a positive review. Here's where it all fell apart. I sat back down, thinking they would be finishing up soon. 20 minutes later, wondering what was taking so long, I thought I'd check back in. Imagine my surprise when it looked not only different, but pretty much exactly what we showed her we didn't want. When going out to grab my purse, I asked my step-daughter what happened. She said that Jackie had indicated that she didn't like it and asked my daughter if she could pin it completely up. My daughter assumed it must look bad and deferred to her expertise and said yes. I partially blame her for not checking in and I partially blame Jackie for imposing her opinion and or not asking to see the photo again if there was any confusion. I inquired of Jackie what happened and she confirmed what my daughter had said. Her hair did look nice, so there was that, but we were disappointed that it wasn't at all what we wanted. We were charged less for what we were originally quoted, so that was a plus, too, if we were charged the originally quoted price, I'd be more annoyed. I ended up unpinning the hair (with breath held) and all was well in the end. read more

Gina is the most amazing colorist in the world. I literally don't even have to say a word, she just knows what looks best on me and we always have a little fun as the seasons change. And since I've turned my hair over to her the number of random strangers who compliment me on my hair always astounds me. I had to update my review because this last time was maybe even the best yet. It's not even been a week and the compliments keep coming. Cousin: "I LOVE your hair! This is my favorite you've had!" Random lady in bathroom: "you can't get that from a bottle!" (Well actually lady, you can!!) Hairdresser in another state doing hair for an updo: "You have to tell me what she did - it's amazing!" Another random stranger: "You can tell that's natural red." I've gone to The Cutting Edge several times and had hair cuts, color, and an eyebrow wax. Scheduling, even for my first appointment was painless and I love their text reminders a day before my appointment. I've gone to Alicia every time I've gone in, and she's done a fantastic job - I love my color and the long layers that are just long enough to put my hair up, while also being short enough to let my hair curl. The Worst Place I have ever Been to. I was looking for a balayage or Ombre Type of hair for mt Birthdag I had Complete Black hair so I didnt want anything to light that it would fry it. I provied pictures Of how I wanted it to come out but I was VERY DISSATISFIED. First I asked if she could blend my roots so it would would mix well together Because my roots were showing badly well anyway she started to do what she was doing and Started teasing my hair Which I have THICK HAIR SO TEASING IS A BIG NO She started Tease dying it and It just came out TERRIBLE she fried my hair in sections she never told me to use a color stripping shampoo when I fist called to make the appointment, and she was complaing about how knotted my hair was cause she TEASED it, as she brushing it clumps are falling out My hair now looks layered in chunks cause sections of my hair was falling out for weeks. And yes i left there store looking like the pictures Ive shared and it has been a uear since i been back there I havent touched my hair since it still looks exactly the same has never been fixed and Im still trying to make it healthy with all the short an long pieces. I got my prom hair done here as well and it was quick and looked great. Not expensive at all for what I get (usually wash and cut or styled for events). But Alycia really listened to me & gave me exactly what I wanted! She's a great colorist as well as stylist - the color $ haircut were great. Literally no complaints. I've been to Cindy and Tiffany, both EXCELLENT! Reading other reviews here, I'd feel very comfortable with any other stylist at The Cutting Edge. They know their trade very well. This is my first review, but I felt I needed to share. I have been searching for a stylist for a long time and think I finally found a new hair home! I have curly hair and like to wear it both curly and blow dried on occasion. Though I have explained this to numerous stylists my hair usually looks good blown out, but only occasionally do I feel it flatters the curls. My last haircut was at a higher end salon (at least in terms of price) and the stylist there was promoting a new cutting style (Calligraphy). It's basically a fancy razor and despite my hesitations I was assured that my curls would love this technique and it was the opposite of a razor. Needless to say, it was exactly like a razor and left my hair frizzy, knotted, and totally unmanageable curly or straight! After a few months of trying to work with it I decided I need a fix. I had an appointment today with another salon and they had to cancel last minute after moving my appointment a few times. I called Cutting Edge and they got me in with Cindy right away. She was able to diagnose my bad haircut and fix it in a way that was completely flattering and easy to manage. She even diffused the curls so I could see them that way instead of blowing it straight. I could not be happier and will definitely be back for haircuts and probably color! read more

I agree with the other woman who bought a groupon. I will not go back. I bought one for my mom and me. First of all, my appt was changed and no one called me. They said that they texted me. How informal. I never received a call. Then they managed to "squish us in". So we were able to get our hair cuts. We were not able to get the deep conditioning and the blow dry. We were told it was "one or the other". My hair cut is choppy and botched. My mothers cut is uneven. One side is longer than the other. I was in shock after the cut. I wrote a groupon review saying that I was going to get it fixed, but decided to call and talk to the manager Amy. She was a bit abrupt, but none the less, I scheduled to come back in and have it fixed. I was supposed to go tomorrow to have it fixed, but the owner Amy called me and was mad at my groupon review. Saying that people can see the review....Ummm last time I checked, reviews were for people to get a feel for a company. I'm not going to lie and say things were so fabulous and great! And as a result, I cancelled the "fix" that was to happen tomorrow. I have had it with this woman's unprofessionalism and lack of people skills. The salon was decently clean, the front woman was not warm and fuzzy that's for sure. And the hair stylist that we had would not listen to what I wanted. Completely different haircut! read more

Awful. Save your money. Paid a $150 for cut and color and had to see a hairdresser to fix it. Other hairdresser at the salon where I went were looking at my hair and couldn't believe how bad the haircut was. Had to take 1/2 inch off just to make it look even. I was crying.
