As many of the other reviews state, I wish I had looked at the reviews prior to coming here. The TVUSD school district requires yearbook photos taken from Studio 94, so, being inexperienced, we went with it and bought their most popular packet which would be the yearbook headshot, the outfit of choice, and the cap and gown shoot. Yes, the staff is young and rude and inexperienced. From the start when my mother and I were looking at the backdrops, we were rushed. Were we taking more time than any other people? Yes, probably, which is a given when I also serve as my mother's translator. When we went in for the actual shoot, I will say the photographer was very friendly. However, he only took single shots. And what I mean by that is, that if there was glare in my glasses or my eyes were closed in a photo, it didn't matter. He kept each photo as a part of the total photos allotted. If a person is paying for say 12 photos, they should get 12 good photos. I'm not saying that the photographer doesn't know what he's doing, but I am saying that it was such a drive-thru experience. A 20 minute session to begin with, and the rushing from the very beginning even when we were early to our session. If we could do this again, I would 100% say, get the free headshot at school in the morning and if you want professional photos done, hire someone else independently (it is probably cheaper, your voice would be heard, you will look good in the photos, and you get to pick different locations.) Another note to add, absolutely get the editing on your photos. I don't understand why the staff was SO against it, do what you want, they are YOUR photos and YOUR memories, do not let them talk you out of anything like they did to us, the family before us, and the family after us. And yes, we did overhear the staff talking shit about a girl who did want alterations to her photos as they were called "unnecessary" and "unnatural" Studio 94 WILL judge you, they WILL talk you out of things you may want, they WILL rush you, they WILL be inconsiderate, and they WILL overcharge you. Please, please, please: hire someone else, another company, or just take photos with your own phone. I promise they will turn out beautiful without this company. And the plaques they offer? Go to HomeGoods, go thrifting, make it yourself, go to Walmart, they sell a much bigger variety than Studio 94 anyways. read more

This place wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be reading through past reviews and hearing complaints from other parents. Booking was easy, email correspondence is quick, they also send you multiple reminders until the day of your session. One issue I did have was that they do not specify the color that they are supposed to wear for their portraits, we decided to just do black because that was what majority of seniors were wearing in last year's yearbook. They had a lot of seating in their waiting area, Raven was super sweet getting us checked in and answered as many questions as she could or went back to ask if she didn't know the answer. Natalie (photographer) was easy going, poses were generic and I had to suggest different ones for each take. Had I known this, we would have researched and arrived more prepared with set poses. At the end when it was time to view the pictures, we noticed her hair was a mess which easily could have been avoided had she just been told during the pictures. We were offered a touch up to fix it for an additional $10 or we could redo the sitting which we opted to pay because we had already been there over an hour and half for our 20 minute session. Kurt ended up waiving the $10 touch up fee for us, but when they emailed our proofs, nothing had been fixed. I worked with Rebecca via email on this who was able to get the touch up done and add it back to my student's viewing gallery, thanks so much for all your help! This company should NOT be in charge of school pictures they somehow get to extort students and parents for their money via the school administration for subpar work. They obviously don't have the personnel to handle the school districts numbers and the photographers don't take the time to get a professional pic for a yearbook. The administration at Studio 94 is less than accommodating and the staff very untrained for this job. Apparently they believe that cameras and lights take the place of good service, and their attitudes are as fake as their backdrops. The photographer kept instructing my son to smile bigger making each picture worse than the last. Afterwards having no pictures worth spending money on the asked me to pick one nonetheless because it's easier for them, and if I was going to retake the shoot they would charge more money. As if this was the only choice. I just saw the school still has a picture day for the yearbook. Don't be fooled into being charged for something that should be free. This "studio" needs to be shut down like right now! I honestly think the only reason this studio remains open is due to the contracts it makes with local high schools. What a shame as it's such an important milestone and the people running this business are complete money hungry jerks! I'd much rather pay more money to have my kids take good pictures at an actual studio. Long story incoming so everyone understands how this business works. First off, the "photographer's" are a bunch of kids themselves! Are you kidding me?! When I went with my son to take his pictures, it must have taken no more than ten minutes for all the pictures and he had three outfit changes. They don't bother with lighting, making sure the kids are smiling and comfortable, fixing their hair, nothing! It's snap, snap, snap, and okay, done, get out. Second, the background that was on our portfolio to buy pictures looked nothing, I mean nothing, like the one we chose at the studio. Rebecca tried her best to change the background to how we wanted to no avail. Third, the quality of the picture paper is complete trash! I paid $200 for a wall portrait and when I received it, all the corners were already coming off and it had scratches all over the picture. I'm in shock as to how they could possibly send me such an expensive portrait in that condition. The worst part is that it's mounted on cheap cardboard that you buy at Dollar Tree making the peeling worse. I've never had such a bad experience at any business. Finally, when I called the studio and explained my dismay at all this, they could care less. Emma explained supposedly that's how they ship the pictures, argued that it wasn't their fault, but the lab they're contracted with, and said that if I wanted to return the picture I would have to pay for shipping MYSELF or personally take it to the studio (I'm over an hour away) in order for them to "try and fix" the issue and reprint it. When I mentioned that it's a far drive given I work sixty hour weeks and that I shouldn't have to pay for shipping since it wasn't my error, she again argued that it wasn't their error either, but the labs so that they shouldn't be held responsible for any additional charges! Are you kidding me?! It's your lab that messed up! Wow!!! My solution was fine, I'll keep all the other packages you messed up on as well, but I refuse to keep the 16x20 scratched, peeling off picture, and asked for a refund, which she straight up denied. She went ahead and argued that it costs them so much money to print and ship pictures and how it's not their fault, therefore, not their responsibility to pay any extra money. It is absolutely their responsibility since they're the ones that hired the lab, not the customer's who pay good money for these once in a lifetime portraits. I should mention, that their website says they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee as well as Rebecca who said if I'm unsatisfied they would make it right or offer my money back. What a shady business! I spent over $630 of my hard earned money on these so called last over 200 years portraits and this is how they treat their customer's. I'm so upset at their rude employees, lying and deceiving owners and business practice, wasted money, and the fact that they ruined such a huge milestone for my son. I begged my son to take grad pictures with an individual photographer which he refused so my advice is to go anywhere but here! Do not give these people any of your money because they'll take it and run! I complained to my son's high school, which I'm sure more parents did as well because they are no longer associated with this studio. Good riddance! I wish it would have happened a year sooner so we didn't have to deal with these conniving individuals!!! I ordered many portraits for my twins boys earlier in the year. I could not order online because of the twins separate packages and discounts , complicated situation. It was very inconvenient. The studio also took pictures at graduation. I ordered those as well, but I was able to order online. The pictures came completely bent in half. I called and Natalie the manager called me back and said they would need me to go drop off the photos to get new ones. That defeated what I paid in shipping and I explained I don't live close to the studio. She left a voicemail stating it's not like I live all the way in San Diego. She did nothing for me to replace the pictures because policy is policy. She never called back to follow through. Horrible customer service. read more

This studio is AWEFUL!! I Agree 100% they should Not be in charge of school pictures. They do nothing to try and get a decent picture. I accidentally purchased two of the exact same downloaded photo and they are REFUSING to acknowledge the first to refund the second. The staff is Rude! Zero stars really should be a yelp option. Very unprofessional. I have to agree with the other posts, there is no attempt at making the shoot comfortable or personable, and the end result was awkward and uncomfortable looking photos. No adults in staff around, anywhere, all teens, including the photographer. Their big presentation of these milestone photos was tiny printed icons on a few sheets of printer paper, as you sit in the waiting room, along with a small paper pamphlet to pick out packages. The prices for the quality, experience, and drive thru mentality was unreal. $600-$800 packages, $75 for a single digital image. They want that kind of cash but didn't hire presentable and friendly professionals or review the images on a computer with a professional staff member. We would have happily spent that kind of money on great and professional photos that brought out real personality. For such a milestone, it really was an über crappy experience. Despite what they ( Studio 94 and the District) tell you, you CAN absolutely take the yearbook photo at school. Its just not taken during check in like the 9-11 students or ID photos. Studio 94 shows up to campus before the deadline to take photos of students whom have not paid or cannot pay for and attend a sitting at the actual studio. If taken at school, its the same yearbook/background photo as the one you pay the $30 for at the studio, but its free on campus. TRUE - they will not use a photo for the YB not taken by Studio 94, BUT you don't have to buy the actual image, or a sitting, or the packages. The photo can be done at school, and you should get an email notification of when - ours was October. They like to threaten that if you don't buy a sitting, you don't appear in the yearbook, which the school system (TVUSD) should be ashamed of promoting. You don't get to pick out your favorite image, background, outfit, etc for the actual YB. The school has already designated the background to appear in the yearbook, so all students backgrounds will be the same. Per the school - its "cohesive". The extra poses and backgrounds are a sales pitch. Which is fabulous, but with a real photographer. Get a real one for your kiddos experience, and milestone, and take the yearbook picture at school. read more

This place is very bad. They have teenagers working as professional photographers with no experience in photography at all. All the poses come out awkward and unnaturally. Then they charge so much, but the end products are of very bad quality. Printed papers are thin and the pictures are dark. Do they know how to edit to make it brighter? At the end of last year I purchased a package for my daughter's senior pictures. I purposely bought a certain package for what it was advertised to include, one of these things being a included family sitting with photo. My son is in the military and coming home after years away and was looking forward to the photos. I asked about the sitting that was included in my package and all of a sudden I didnt spend enough money to have that included because I got a discount for doing my photos early. I have the brochure from when I was sold the package and nowhere does it state you need to spend a certain amount. This is false advertising considering even in the brochure it shows the prices with possible discounts. They did nothing to make the student comfortable so everything is forced. They have a checklist in their head of shots and are robots checking them off. No creativity. My daughter had her picture taken on her assigned enrollment day for high school at TVUSD. Only one photo was taken so when I finally got an email from studio94 there was only one choice. My daughter doesn't have perfect skin because she is a teen after all, so I paid for retouching to cover some acne. I ordered the digital download picture. There was absolutely no retouching on her photo when I received it. I emailed studio94 to complain. I eventually received a second photo that I was told had the $75 "senior" retouching done to it at no extra charge. The second version of my daughter's picture was so touched up that her face was just basically orange (she's brown) and looks like a photo on social media that had many filters applied to it and is so fake! Studio 94 retrained itself from using bunny ears, puppy tongue, or flower wreaths but it wasn't much better than that. This company is a joke and The district must be getting some kind of kickback from studio94 because they are not professional at all. TVUSD needs to go back to gerardy or lifetouch. My daughters school district changed to this studio after many years with Lifetouch. Worse mistake ever!!! We arrived at their new location in Riverside and the place was locked up! Confused I double checked the address and even doubled check the confirming email to ensure our appointment was in fact today. I then see another parent in the parking lot who was upset and on the phone. She asked if I was here to take pictures as well. She said she has been waiting for an hour and no one showed up. She said she is going to reschedule. Duh!! Meantime, I was calling the customer service number and was on hold for about 15 minutes before I got to speak to someone. They said the photographer had an emergency but that they were sending another photographer and they would be their in about 45 minutes! What??!!! Terrible customer service! I asked why no one contacted us to let us know before we headed over. A day totally wasted!!! Very dissatisfied with this place. My son is a Senior at Fullerton High School. This was the "photographers" that we had to use. Immediately after take Pictures, you need to select yearbook picture and pkg. They pressure you by telling you, if you don't buy same day, "the special " goes away. DONT GIVE IN!!! They feed you this crap about they only sell the matted frame picture, minus the frame. Their excuse is "we don't know what your decor is, so we do not include the frame. Who in the H$&ll uses identical frames for all their pictures. Ridiculous!!! I only purchased USB for almost 400.00. You have to pay to have the download and printed else where. I bought a 16 x 20 matted, and a collage of 3- 5x 7 matted. Whole order was 622.00. Received pictures. None included matting. They use a solid colored border that is part of the picture to make it look like it was matted. Very poor quality paper. I went to Walmart and had a 16 x 20 picture made for 2.38. Bought. I wish I would've have read the reviews before our session. Went for senior photos and the experience was horrible. They claim each session is tailored to meet the clients need but when we went, they told us that all senior photos are done exactly the same. When i asked for a slight modification because my son looked stiff, i was given an attitude and was told thats not how they do it. When i looked at the proofs, i could see my son looked uncomfortable in the photos, so i called and asked for a reshoot with another photographer. They agreed, but when we showed up, the owner was the photographer and immediately started by telling me how much i am inconveniencing him on his day off. When i tried to explain why i wanted a reshoot, i was told i would need to pay more as my reason was ridiculous, and i didn't know anything about photography. He went on to say how his photographer is a professional and knows what they are doing, and i could always go to JcPenneys. He berated me in front of my son to the point of tears. We did not do the reshoot and left as he was completely unprofessional and told me to get out because i didnt agree with him about my photo session experience. We unfortunately have to use this business for yearbook photos, but i actually did go to JcPenneys instead. I had an amazing experience with photographers who took the time to listen to what the customer wants and the photos looked better because my son was comfortable, and you could see it in his smile. Reading through the one star reviews, I was nervous about my son's senior photo shoot. But everything went smoothly--we even received our printed pictures a week earlier than promised! They look great. We booked a session in July, on the second day they were doing senior pics. I think it helped that we went before they started to get busier. Both my husband and I went to the shoot so we could look at the proofs together and place the order on the spot to take advantage of the 20% early bird discount. My older kid was able to use a different studio in 2016 for her senior photos, and that studio offered a more personal experience, and their packages were better. But overall we were satisfied with our recent experience at Studio 94. read more

I really would like to order my daughter's senior portraits, however I have yet to receive the proofs. It's been 3 weeks since my daughter's sitting. After 3 weeks of no phone call or email, I finally got proofs in the mail, however they were not my daughter's proofs. They were another student's pictures?!? How does that happen? I called the studio today to find out what happened with my daughter's proofs, but it was impossible to get a hold of a person at the studio. I am so disappointed. Studio 94 has terrible customer service. Please be aware that all of the "photographers" at Studio 94 are very young. They look like high schoolers. If they aren't, they are probably not much older. That may explain the lousy customer service. I recommend only using Studio 94 for the yearbook photo. Please give your business, money, and time to an actual photographer who cares about you and the service they provide. You have choices. Don't use Studio 94. Here is an excerpt from the email I received after my son's appointment: "Give us a 4 or 5 star Yelp review and receive a FREE 8x10 print or a digital file from your session for FREE! Go to Yelp and choose the studio that you were photographed in, and yelp for us. If you were photographed on location please choose the Murrieta Studio. Once your review is posted send an email to Info@Studio-94.com letting us know that you yelped. Please include your name, school, grad year, and Image that you want. We will send you the digital file by email or the print by mail as soon as we get confirmation." Ummm, I would call that cheating! Not ethical at all. And it stinks that in order to have your yearbook photo retouched you have to pay the $30 sitting fee. Yearbook mug shots are supposed to be free, but for the free one, you cannot pick the pose or get retouching. Not cool. I am very disappointed. They first told me the best bet for your money is Digital photos. So I ordered my sons digital photos. Well, then after 3 weeks, I never received the flash drive. They sent me an email link to use and have my pictures printed. When I ordered my pictures they came out horrible!!!! Now I can't even access my sons pictures through the link any longer or get on the site again to download them again. AND I still have not received my flash drive . I need my pictures and unable to send out to family members and graduation announcements. I want some type of refund or just have you print my pictures at no extra costs. They have beautiful photos posted on-line and in their studio, but that is not near the product you will receive. We booked my daughter's appt online. We arrived on time and they took us back right away. The photographer was fast, but good. My daughter hates having her pictures taken so having a fast and friendly photographer was perfect. We viewed the proofs right away and had a tough time deciding which ones to buy. We opted for purchasing 3 digital files of 3 poses and saved 20% by purchasing at the time of the sitting. It was expensive ($180) but cheaper than the large packages. With the rights to the files and a signed release, we were able to print all the pics I needed at Costco for $13.
