Erica has been transforming my hair for 6 months now and this is the best my hair has ever looked! I had saturated my hair with different dark brown box colors to combat my grey hair (ps- this is NOT a good idea.... surprise surprise). I was a little nervous about going out to a salon in these times. I'm delighted to say I felt very safe at Studio 93. They've reduced the number off stylists in the salon each day by alternating days. So it did not feel crowded. They are wearing masks and require clients to do the same. Yes, you can get a shampoo and a hair cut while wearing a mask. They are NOT blow drying hair as a precaution. I admire how the salon owners have moved past the shock of the virus and proceeded to figure out how to operate safely. I will not be reluctant to go back. Boy, did I ever need a haircut. I've been going to the same hair stylist for 20 years; however, she was "old school" and didn't keep up with current trends. Being that I'm a fairly butch female, I have never felt comfortable walking into a fancy salon. When I first started looking for a new place, I was in the process of growing my hair from shaved, with a combover on top, to a faux hawk. Thinking that barbers would have more expertise with fade type work, I opted for the barber shop. After several disappointments with the barber's less than fair ability for shearwork, I started looking for a salon. I needed someone, anyone for God's sake, that could do great shearwork, fades, and highlights all in one! For weeks, I researched and called around looking for someone to fit my needs at a reasonable price, while my hair grew into a hot mess! After reviewing Studio 93's website for days and contemplating, I made the call. The lady at the front desk (sorry, I didn't catch her name) was more than pleasant to talk with. Most of the time when I called around it felt like all business, like I was being rushed or keeping them from something more important. Not this time! As you can tell from this lengthy review, I tend to go overboard with my explanations, which is what I did with her. I told her my whole story, from beginning to end. She was very patient and pleasant the entire conversation and recommended Melanie, so I booked an appointment. SHE is what got me in the door! I am NEVER late to anything! If I'm not 10 minutes early I consider myself late. But, as luck would have it, I was late!!! Only by five minutes, but I understand how important every minute is for this type of profession. I was expecting attitude when I walked in the door and a rush job by Melanie. Boy was I ever wrong! The same lady I spoke to on the phone greeted me with pleasure, despite the fact that she was busy with other customers. She scurried me off to put on a smock and I was immediately greeted by Melanie when I was finished (literally 10 seconds later). The salon was nice and trendy, a place I would never feel comfortable walking into, with all the "girly girls". No diss on girly girls, but I've always felt out of place, like I didn't belong, and OMG, the judgmental looks from people, especially in that part of town. I put on my big girl panties and decided to smile at everyone I made eye contact with and see what happens. Every single person I made eye contact with greeted me with a smile. The whole environment felt welcoming and comfortable for me, which says a lot, if you only knew me. She consulted with me for about 10 minutes until she understood exactly what I wanted. I was a bit concerned at first because she was not familiar with the term faux hawk, but once I showed her pictures, she understood what I was asking for. Then I asked her how long she had been doing hair, which was just over five years. Honestly, at that point, I wanted to run! I finally got my hair close to the length I wanted on top and I was terrified of yet another bad experience! To add fuel to the fire in my head, when she started working on the fade with the shear over comb technique. I was thinking, there is no way she is going to get it as short as I want it and it be even on both sides!! If you are still reading this, I have to say that I could not have been happier when I left!!! I was very impressed with Melanie's ability to give me exactly what I wanted at a reasonable price. She was meticulous with my hair, checking and rechecking, and then turned me around several times to see if she was headed in the right direction. Not to mention, she started a fresh pot off coffee for me during my visit!!! I have to apologize to Melanie for making assumptions based on her years of experience! I guess cutting all her Barbie doll's hair as a child really paid off!! ;) The only reason this review is 4 star is because the price of the highlights seemed a bit high for the amount of product used on my hair, which I know Melanie cannot be blamed for. My previous hair stylist adjusted the price since my hair requires much less product than the average person. Despite the fact she used an old school technique of pulling my hair through a cap, my highlights always looked great and was at a very good price. Overall, great experience, and I plan on going back! I can only hope she is as meticulous and thorough the second time around! read more

After searching and reading reviews, I was sadly disappointed in our experience at Studio 93. First, I want to say that the salon is beautiful and all of the employees seem extremely nice and the whole atmosphere is friendly and professional. I also appreciated that they could fit us in the same day I called. It was the result that I was not happy with. My daughter wanted her tips done blue. After arriving and consulting with our stylist (who was just the sweetest girl ever and seemed very knowledgeable as she listened to what we wanted and explained how it could look better), she changed her mind and the decision was made to put in a few subtle dark blue, chunky streaks on the under side of her hair, so they would show through, but not be blazing blue streaks on top of her head. She was also going to get a little cut, nothing fancy. I did appreciate that they were very clear on the fact that they could not guarantee how long the blue would hold. We were there for three hours. After two hours, our stylist's next client arrived and I was told she wouldn't have time to do the cut. Ok, I guess. Not a huge deal, just a little annoying. The last hour was spent under the dryer, then getting shampooed and dried. In the end, I paid $130 for 5 tiny, thin streaks of blue and one huge and very bright streak, which, when compared to the look of the others, had to be a mistake. Overall, it did not resemble the picture we looked at in the beginning. My daughter is just happy to have her blue, but I can look at it and tell it isn't quite right. I can only assume that the stylist was rushing, knowing she had another client coming in soon. I was then shocked at the price of the somewhat sloppy work. I have had all over color with highlights done for less. Ultimately, I DO intend to go back and give them another try because the place and people just seemed so great and I get the feeling this isn't their usual quality of work. Whether I want the same color and cut, or want to take a leap outside of the comfort zone, Alex is there to provide her professional guidance and honest opinion. She has never steered me wrong and nails it every time! Scheduling/ changing appointments is easier than ever now either by phone call or text. The entire staff is a joy to interact with every time I go in! The products they use are top notch, and historical building they are in adds to the upscale ambience and truly makes you feel like it's a pampering experience. I AM OUTRAGED. How DARE this place be so professional, so inspiring, so creative, and SO into their customers that they act like they actually LIKE coming to work! My terrible, horrible, no good, very bad experience is hard to nail on just one stylist - this place dares to push the limits of the word "team" and painfully did exactly what I was looking for and better than I assumed it would come out. I wanted to make my little locks a demin color. I am a professional gypsy, so finding a salon on the road is at the the very least, tedious. I had a tight plan to visit with my old stylist in Atlanta after she recently located. She canceled on me hours before I was supposed to be tressed. I called 3 salons and got "we're booked", "you need a consultation", or a straight dead stare on the other end. Exhausted, I called these guys. I was asked to text pictures of the color, pictures of me, and how did my schedule look in the next 24 hours. BLASPHEMY to the intrusion into my life! I booked with Tammy and rolled in. Immediately, I'm acknowledged by name and offered a drink. Then I sat at the color station and had a panel of experts go to town on diagnosing my hair and pulling test strands to show me options since they were experimenting on trying to get the color right all day before I got in. They work like a clever gang of sheering ninjas: slinging dye, hair, and love all over the joint. Tammy stayed on my head and conducted the stunning orchestra that came out of the whole thang. She wrote the formula down and gave me her number in case I had questions. The place closed at 7 and she stayed to work on me until 7:30. How RUDE of her. She didn't even TRY to rush me out of there! I have been feeling drab and down and really needed a hair makeover. I found a lot of great reviews for this place and made an appointment with Ally. I am so pleased with my hair! First experience was okay except Julie (the owner) kept asking a more junior stylist for her opinion on the progress/application of balayage. It turned out nicely, so I made a second appointment for another balayage and cut. I called the day before to confirm my appointment, because I'm Type A like that, but when I arrived, I watched a frazzled receptionist talk to my stylist who walked over and started apologizing profusely for "overlooking" my appointment. My choices were to either stay and be colored by the junior stylist she had been consulting before or reschedule my appointment entirely. I chose the former because I wanted to see an improvement (I was told it might take a few visits). The color didn't turn out right and I was there for over 3 hours (Julie graciously stayed late after everyone else left to finish my hair) but my hair looks pretty bad. I didn't reschedule a third appointment and won't go back because at $200 plus tip for each visit, I don't think it's worth it. I know Julie has many happy clients and I wish her the best but it didn't work out for me. read more

Always get a great cut, she's very personable and even though I'm not particularly articulate about what I want when it come to my hair, she always gets it just right. She trimmed my 4 year old boy's hair right after my appointment this last time, as well, and even though he didn't want it done, she made it nice and easy and he's totally ready to go back the next time! I had a bad bleach job in November and my hair was dry and breaking. After all the conditioning, I decided it was time for a new cut. I reviewed the salon online and looked at the experience of the stylists before I called When I called for an appointment, I was given one that day. Unfortunately, it was with the most inexperienced person in the place. I was hesitant because of the condition of my hair. I wanted someone who knew that they were doing. This girl did not. I knew I had to have a lot of hair chopped off. So, she chopped off the back in one big cut. However, in the process of cutting the rest of the hair she did not blend the short layers in with the longer layers. Nothing blends in. The haircut is horrible. You cannot style it or do anything with it. Now, I did play around with the scissors on my own to cut off the ends. But that shouldn't stand in the way of making a haircut look good. I knew I was in for a good chopping but I didn't get that. Heck, I would have cut my hair this unevenly and not paid what I paid. I also had the roots done and the color redone. If you lift up sections of hair, you can see where the roots were not done and the color they made the hair looks orange. If you have damaged hair and are looking for a change, I would recommend this salon but I would research who the stylists are so if you need a major change, do not go with the inexperienced. I complained and even sent pictures of what the cut looked like. I got a call based on my email that they would have me come back with someone more experienced. After I sent the pictures of the haircut, I did not hear back. I would think it would be up to them to get back to me. I had the complaint and I contacted them with the info and proof but heard nothing back. read more

I visited Studio 93 today for the first time today and was pretty impressed. Not only is this a gorgeous salon but the front desk staff is really friendly and accommodating. First of all, I got there 10 mins early since it was my first time there and as soon as I told them my name they announced me over the PA system & my stylist took me back immediately (AWESOME!) My stylist Deanna was the phenomenal! She knew exactly what I was going for and did a magnificent job on my haircut. We also talked pretty much the entire time. I like this aspect because I'm talkative and most stylist/client interactions are awkward at least for me. They also use all Bumble & Bumble products which I love (they all smell amazing!) Oh & the best part is that it's very affordable & I got 20% off since it was my first visit! Let me just start by saying I am early 40's and have never had professional hair color. I've always used box color to cover grays so I can't tell you how excited I was in my decision to seek professional help transitioning to gray. I went in for a consult and was told 2 to 3 sessions for my end result of dark roots with gray/silver highlights throughout. I recently completed my 4th session and I can tell you this...nope! Four sessions and $1000 later and when I look in the mirror each day I feel I've made a huge mistake. My hair is blonde, caramel, white, and brown. No gray. No silver. Nothing I asked for. I'm honestly just sad, not only has my hair color been ruined but I paid for it. I should have just let it grow out gray naturally. I feel like I was "practiced on" one session would be foils the next balayage the next time back combed. This seemed odd to me. The only good thing I have to say is the bleaching process I did go through at Studio 93 was healthy. My hair is in pretty good condition even though I can't stand the sight of it. read more

Well, I've only been to this salon once before but decided to give it a second chance with Erin today. I was disappointed the first time with the cut, but she explained I had a few light layers that needed to grow out. I waited about 6 months. So I came back and showed Erin a specific picture of an angled bob and asked if my hair had grown out enough and she said yes, no problem. After she had done the cut, I mentioned that the angle was not there and that it was cut the same length all the way around and longer on one side. She seemed annoyed. She cut on it some more and did some of the texturizing thing on my fine hair which makes it look wispy and even thinner. And then a swoopy bang on the other side which I asked her not to do because I already knew it would fall forward like a face frame. I wish I had tried a different stylist as I don't think she has as much experience and didn't know how to cut an angled bob. Really bummed out and it was $170 not including tip. read more
