I loved my experience at Studio 79! I got my hair done by Aaron last week and I was so satisfied by the cut and service. In the past 2-3 years I've gotten my hair done at several salons, but none of them made me want to go back a second time--except for Studio 79. It was easy to book an appointment with them by texting the number listed. At my appointment, I got a real consultation for the first time. Aaron talked about how my natural texture would work with the long layers I requested. He was also honest about how side bangs might not be possible since I had a cowlick at the front of my hair. After the consultation was the hair wash, which was thorough. The products smelled great! Pretty standard as far as hair washes go. During the haircut, Aaron took time to explain every step of the process and what he was doing. And although he said side bangs might not be possible, he made it happen! I was out of there within 40 minutes and my haircut turned out *exactly* how I wanted it to. I definitely recommend checking this place out, especially those who have straight/Asian hair and struggle finding salons that tailor to your needs. WORST HAIRCUT EVER! I booked an appointment with Aaron based on Yelp reviews, oh man, I wish I could turn back time when I didn't look so UGLY...After Aaron's haircut, I look at least 15 years older than my actual age and my face looks even bigger than before. I told Aaron I have round face and wish the new haircut won't make my face shape look so obvious, from the beginning to the end, I asked him at least 3 times if he needed to see my face for a second and he refused. He cut my hair in less than 10 minutes with my mask on all the time so he didn't even know what my face looked like! At the end, when I expressed my disappointment, he got irritated and simply said this is exactly what I wanted... All my friends told me my new hair cut doesn't look good on me. I am going to Hawaii in 5 days for the first time, what else can I do??? If you have $80, please do yourself a favor and find another hair dresser who is more skilled and more importantly, who really cares about his customers. Date of visit: 01/23/2020 for my daughter and 01/24/2020 for myself The last minute haircut before Chinese New Year lol! This place was referred by my friend's sister. When it comes to hair, I'm very nervous coz I know how important a hairstyle is on someone's overall appearance/look. Most of the times when I try a new hairstylist, I ended up not coming back because I didn't like the style or the cut I ended up with. On all those occasions, what I told them to do and what they ended up doing were totally different. Not with Studio 79. Not with Aaron. He would listen to what we want and is actually able to do the cut exactly like how we want it. And he layers well!! Trust me on this. If you have a layered style hair, try Studio 79 and Aaron. You will not be disappointed. My only problem with Aaron was when he washed my hair. His hair washing style is a tiny bit too "strong" to my liking. I wish he could do it more gently and not pulling on my hair too much, especially coz I have long hair.... Overall I really really like this place and I will come back for sure! I had a perm done a month ago at another salon and just wanted to clean it up just a bit because I have a wedding to attend this weekend. Asked for 0.5 inch off the front and to clean up the short hairs on my neck on the rear. Stylist suggested we take off just a bit more length off the sides for one reason or another. I said let's do it as I imagined a little bit would be fine to match the trim off the front. By the end of it, all of the work done from my perm had been undone because WAY TOO much hair was taken off in total. My hair had gone from medium/long length to very short with all my hairs not even reaching the top of my ears. I want to reiterate that the owner was very kind and the environment was very pleasant, but this whole experience left me upset and very unsatisfied about the hair cut. This is an unfortunate and hard lesson learned to be very skeptical about everything. For now, I will scrambling to find a way to fix my hair. Side note: haircut for men is $50. read more

I can't say enough about this salon! The whole vibe and environment is chill and welcoming. Stylists and clients are friendly and it really feels like I've been coming here for years, although I came for my first visit on Saturday. I went back today to have Vi touch up my texture and my husband was getting his hair cut by Jerry. Vi was kind enough to fit me in and added a bit more layers around my face. She thanked ME for giving her the opportunity to tweak the cut a bit--ensuring I was absolutely satisfied with my hair. Well, I am! I'm in love with it!!! Vi took the time to show me how it looks when pulled back, etc. She is so sweet, professional and talented! She has an Instagram account where you can see her work; cuts and color. I'm very grateful to her! My husband was thrilled with Jerry, who gave him an awesome cut. Hubby hasn't cut his hair for quite some time, and the finished cut was pretty astonishing. Received one of the worst cuts in my life. I showed a reference photo of an undercut with a fade. For some context, I have a slightly box-y face and the hair on the sides of my face jut out (which is fairly common in male, Asian hair). Instead of fading the sides to a straight profile, the stylist ended up shaving way too far up and into my head. He justified his style decision by pointing out that my hair juts out to the sides. After shaving the sides, I think he expected the hair on top would fall naturally and seamlessly into place with the sides of my face. But unfortunately it didn't, and I looked ridiculous. He apologized for the cut and didn't charge me. Other than the cut, the interior is clean, and the shower service is nice. I don't know the name of the stylist, and I cannot speak to the quality of the other stylists. I genuinely wish he improves. read more

I got a haircut with Aaron today and I'm so glad I did! 2 months ago, I got my hair colored & cut by another stylist and my hair looked great right after the session, but as soon as I washed/styled it myself, you could tell the hair was not cut skillfully. My bangs had long, random strands everywhere & I was so confused on how to style it. I was able to book a hair cut with Aaron by texting 626-905-9258 & secured an appointment the week after. I came on a Tuesday morning at 10:30am and the salon was just me and Aaron. It was quite nice to not have other people, especially with covid. I liked that we both had our masks on at all times, the salon was clean, & there was hand sanitizer available. A big plus for me. I showed Aaron some instagram photos of what I wanted & he immediately knew how to do it. He explained to me what he was doing the entire time & why he was cutting/styling it a certain way. He gave me so many tips on how to wash/style/maintain my hair. You can tell he really knows his stuff! I also liked that the products he uses are high quality & are items he highly recommends. I told him that I like more natural products & it's been hard to find a more natural shampoo that is great for colored hair. As soon as I told him that, he whipped out the ColorProof shampoo & went over how it has vegan ingredients, is sulfate-free/paraben-free, etc. I'm sold! What I got: - Hair cut $70 (included wash & styling) - Olaplex treatment $20 Total = $90 + tip Definitely more on the expensive side but Aaron is worth it! Side note: While I was in the salon, a customer came in apologizing to Aaron for being late to their appointment. Apparently it wasn't their first time doing this. Aaron was nice about it but long story, short--if you're running late or can't make it, do the right thing & notify the hair stylist beforehand. I bleached my hair and after 2 1/2 month the roots as well as color is a mess, so I asked Vi a bunch of questions for a color that won't fade so fast, looks natural when the roots grows out, yet is a bright color to take advantage of my already bleached long hair, yet not so pigmented such as red in order for me to try out different colors in the future, considering my budget and planning for future colors... Vi really takes her time and give me the best answers she could. And she did a good job with gray ombre on my long hair will be coming back to her soon. My Eldest son Seth has been a client of Jerry's since June 2021 and I could not  be more pleased knowing Studio 79 is right down the street and knowing that Jerry will always give my now 7 year old son Seth the Perfect Haircut that Compliments his True Style & Personality. We found Studio 79 which is next door to our Dentist Office on Colima and earlier in the summer of 2021, I spoke briefly with Jerry over scheduling Seth's hair cut since I've seen the salon constantly busy with clients.. His staff was very kind, professional, and gave me his card. Scheduling and appointment with Jerry is easy and convenient since Jerry directly texts back to make and confirm the appointment. On the same night we scheduled his hair cut for today which is June 25th, 2021 at 4pm. Right away as we entered the salon, the AC  felt amazing because of the summer heat into a modern, eclectic, and well designed Salon with their hardwood floors and was kindly greeted by Jerry. Seth took a liking to him right away since he was very gentle with him because my son is 6 1/2 years old. I've never seen such precise and unique techniques done throughout Seth's hair cut and was so pleased with Jerry's work because we can literally see every hue of Brown with his fresh new cut. Seth posed by their wall to take a few photos while Jerry was sweet enough to take photos with Seth together! Jer Seth has now had 5 Haircuts done by the talented Jerry which inspired me to have my long hair cut by Jerry as of November 2021 which was the day before my photo shoot with my youngest at 11 months. During our consultation, I explained to Jerry exactly what was needed, which was at least 3 inches off, wanted lighter layers on the top, and asked for the V cut on the bottom. Jerry always makes me feel so comfortable and at ease during our treatment since he encourages me to keep studying for StateBoard Exam for my  Esthetician License.Jerry did an exquisite job on my haircut and was kind enough to curl the ends since he knew Photos were being taken the following day.  I would highly recommend Jerry and Salon 79 for their services and looking forward to having another fun, chill, and wonderful experience at Salon 79! read more

My haircut was $55 but styling was $20 and tip was $15 for a total of $90. I arrived to my appt with my hair still wet and freshly washed. My stylist was Helen and she was kind but I ended up not liking my haircut even though I thought maybe I'd start liking it after a while. My hair just feels so thick and full, the shape or the way of falls wasn't flattering. I showed her a photo of a previous cut I had but she advised it was really short previously and to perhaps cut off only the damages and dry part. Also my hair blowout was very frizzy.
