Well deserving of their near 5 star rating! All the reviews about Ricky are on point and true. He's so down to earth, nice, patient, and made me feel super comfortable. He's also quick to respond to messages (via Instagram @ricky_gibbs). His work is great and he's honest with his feedback as well. I was a little nervous going to him because I found him through a quick search for tattoo shops in the area on Yelp, found studio 71, searched Insta for the shop, DM'd the artists' profiles, and decided on him because he was quick to reply LOL. But I'm SOOO glad I did, because after looking at his work I saw that he's done a lot of floral and butterflies (which was what I wanted) but his portraits were amazing too! We have come here for more than one tattoo and this occasion was no exception. I brought my son to see Ricky for his first tattoo and his experience was excellent! Ricky was able to get my son exactly what he wanted and make sure he was good throughout the process. While there, Adrian touched up a cover up he did of Stitch on my chest that was showing through. It now looks absolutely amazing and I love it!! He also did my lucky cricket from Mulan on my ankle in about ten minutes after my Stitch was done! I have been getting tattooed for over 10 years. My old shop that I got most of my work done closed up and relocated sometime back. Other than the tattoo work itself, one of the main reasons I missed that shop was because it was very welcoming and fun talking to the tattoo crew that manned the shop. In my spare time I'd visit different shops. I came across many talented artists but the shops didn't have the vibe or connection I once had. I visited Studio 71 on my drive home. Right away I loved how the shop was decorated. Guitars on the wall and a rusted car grill and bumper converted into a wall lamp. Complimenting the decor was some traditional trio country music playing in the background, definitely my style. I had the pleasure of meeting Tom and Adrian. Very easy going and welcoming. I told them that I wanted to tattoo my wife's name on me. I described to Adrian how I wanted it drawn and he said he would have some sketches to go over with me on our appointment. Finally a week went by and it was the day of my appointment. Adrian showed me one of the sketches. My wife and I instantly loved it! He walked us over to his work area and I was super impressed with the cleanliness and organization of his station. We all chatted as he worked on me. He was great in communicating the process of the tattoo. On a side note I believe that's a great quality to have for a client getting tattooed for the first time. After the session was over he went over the aftercare of the tattoo and answered questions. Over all I enjoyed the experience and his art. I definitely plan on returning to get more work done. Went here for a Fundraising event for Kitty911. Got 2 tats an infinity symbol and a kitty cat. This shop is very good. They follow all legal and ethical procedure. It's very clean and well maintained. My artist Ricky Gibbs was very caring and will ask how you are doing during the process.Both look really great. Ricky is a new artist he did these simple tats easily. other pieces, I explained that I needed a piece ( a butterfly I have re- inked. I did have that done later at another date. In any case I was impressed with shop and would recommend it to a friend. Update: I have noticed that my lines are not straight on these pieces. The paw print was not filled in darkly enough. I've since had the infinity symbol re inked by a different artist. I would recommend the shop but I couldn't recommend the artist. He may have gotten better since last year at this time. read more

I went in yesterday for a small tattoo. Awesome shop!! I walked in and was greeted by Ricky. We talked about what I was looking for. He drew it up as we chatted. This is honestly the best interacting I have EVER had with an artist. He was super down to earth. Never ever seemed annoyed with the tattoo I wanted (I've had this happen before at another shop). Once he drew it up I asked him to make two very small changes with the script. With no hesitation he made the changes. He again chatted during my tattoo so it wasn't just awkward silence. I have been getting tattoos from both Ricky and Tom for several years now, ever since they were at their old location. Now that they have moved to this location both of their work has drastically improved. You can tell that they are happy and it truly shows in their work. The shop itself looks very clean and tidy and the color scheme is very relaxing. The lighting is wonderful and the surrounding area is nice as well. Same parking lot as the Brentwood LMC and across the street from an awesome hookah lounge and pub. And right next door to a barbershop. They fit in very well with the surroundings. Everyone I've talked to about the work done by these guys have all agreed their work has improved so much since they moved here and I can't wait to continue working on my tattoo projects with these guys. read more

I stumbled across this place when my normal spot was booked. What a blessing. Adrian does fantastic work. He took my very vague idea and turned it into a beautiful tattoo. He was mindful of my pain tolerance, and was patient if I needed breaks. He's easy to talk to which is a great distraction when you have a needle on your skin lol. He also gave my sister her first tattoo- and she was stoked with the result- and that it didn't hurt the way she expected it to. Since April 2019, I've been back 3x. I four tattoos that needed fixing three being cover ups and one needing to be fixed and added color. I took my time Googling since all the other tattoo spots I've been to in the past weren't that great. I came across Studio 71 and read the reviews. The owner Tom has great reviews so I decided to give him a try. I went by some time in June met him and set up an appointment. The shop itself is very neat and clean and welcoming. Tom was professional took some pictures of my tattoos and scheduled me. I went to see in for my first cover up. Tom has a poker face but once he starts working on you he's actually fun to chat with. I felt very comfortable and he went easy on me. So easy he asked was I ok cause I haven't kicked him yet, lol. I talked to him and his other artist and then before you know it I was done! Came back this Past Thursday to get my wrist done and my shoulder tattoo recolored. He spent some time on my shoulder and I thought he was just coloring it with the same colors. Boy was I wrong! He changed it and made it so pretty and realistic! It was like a new tattoo! I was so happy! We didn't get to my wrist but I go back at the end of this month! I can't wait! I love the fact that he listens to what you want, but he's the artist he takes the time to bro h your ideas to life. I recommend Tom to anyone looking for a great tattoo that you are sure to love! For real, please don't go to Adrian. I got a tattoo done by him in October and the second I took the bandage off, I cried. I originally wanted a script that said "With Pain Comes Strength" and he completely went out of the stencil I gave him, it was crooked, splotchy, and unprofessional. I called and asked for a refund and they refused. I'm now spending hundreds of dollars getting it removed because of how bad of a job it was. I am extremely disappointed and very sad. Wish I would of gone somewhere else. Now tattoos are ruined for me and I will never get another one. Again, don't go to Adrian. read more

My husband and I went to Studio 71, we had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jr. He was very nice, professional, and understanding of what my husband wanted. He was patient and walked us through the entire design, including his professional opinion on what may or may not work well on the skin and detailed description as to why. He was very knowledgeable and patient. Jr was able to come up with an awesome theme for our daughters name. Seriously, he is a really a great artist overall with his lettering and the details!
