I work two jobs, often 11 hours a day, and had saved $40 to treat myself to a little relaxation. Instead, I left upset, in pain, and wishing I had gone somewhere else. I returned to the salon after work because Jenny, the owner, had missed the gel top coat on my entire right hand during my manicure. When I arrived, I noticed a strong marijuana-like smell, especially near the bathroom. I also saw Jenny come out looking startled, although I can't say what caused the odor. While she corrected my manicure, I asked about pedicure prices. She said $40. Since it was nearly closing time, I said I would come back another day, but she insisted there was plenty of time and encouraged me to sit down and relax. I took her at her word. Before the service, I noticed her whispering to another employee while looking me up and down, which felt uncomfortable. The pedicure itself seemed to last only about ten minutes. No one checked whether the water or hot towels were comfortable, and both felt painfully hot against my feet and legs on two occasions. The cuticles on three toes were cut, and I later developed what appeared to be an ingrown toenail. When I asked for my nails to be shortened and shaped so they wouldn't snag, Jenny said they don't use nail files during pedicures. I was confused about what exactly my $40 was paying for. The situation became even stranger when, from my chair, I saw Jenny touch her genital area over her clothing and then bring her hand to her nose and sniff. I found this deeply unpleasant to witness in a salon. Later, she commented that my feet looked like "little paws" and asked whether I would send her photos of them for her "personal use." I felt extremely uncomfortable and didn't understand why a routine nail appointment had turned into such a bizarre interaction. At that point I explained that I was unhappy with the rushed service, the painful heat, and the uncomfortable comments. I told her I would gladly have returned another day if there hadn't been enough time for a proper pedicure. According to my recollection, Jenny initially smiled, then shouted "No, no, no, no!" She called me a "c*nt" and made a disturbing remark about my height, saying I was short enough to be squished like a bug with my guts spilling out. I was shocked and wanted to leave, so I paid and walked out. Afterward, I called to ask for a refund of the $40 pedicure charge. I wasn't seeking anything extra; I just wanted to resolve an upsetting experience without further conflict. Jenny said she had tried to find me after I left to offer a $10 gift card, although she had watched me pay and leave without making that offer. I explained that I did not want a credit toward another visit. She refused a refund and, during our phone conversation, called me a "little bitch" and said the only way I would get my money back was through a chargeback. I would have preferred to handle this privately. What disappointed me most was not simply losing $40, but feeling that my concerns about the service and how I was treated were dismissed. I saved for a small moment of self-care and instead left feeling embarrassed, physically uncomfortable, and disrespected. This is my account of what I personally experienced; I cannot speak for other customers. I won't be returning, and I hope the owner takes customer feedback and professional boundaries more seriously in the future.
