As a resident of Cromwell, I've driven by Green Lotus many times, but today was the first time I decided to give it a try, and it was a great choice! I called Green Lotus late in the afternoon inquiring about an appointment for facial waxing either tonight or tomorrow night - and surprisingly, they were able to fit me in tonight. When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile from Monica, and she offered to hang up my coat and get me a drink. My appointment with Vanessa went very well - she introduced herself with a handshake and conversed with me throughout the appointment. I have some skin sensitivities and allergies, and Vanessa discussed these with me prior to my appointment and added them to my record. It even printed that I had an allergy on my receipt - so I'm very pleased to know they take that matter seriously! She really took her time and didn't rush through the service. If I were to describe both employees I dealt with, I'd say: Processional & Friendly. They both deserve a ton of credit for their great customer service - something that seems rare these days. The salon is very clean and the waxing room had soft, relaxing music in the background and a soothing fountain. I thought the price was reasonable and ended up booking a future appointment. I should have called but everything happened so quickly that I honestly was not thinking about the days appointments. I was unable to pick up my phone when they called but when I realized what had happened I called right back from the hospital. They do not answer their phone so I left a message and sent an email explaining what happened, I received no response and they charged me $185.00 for missing the appt. My message stated that I understood I would need to pay a cancellation fee and asked if under the circumstances if they could refund part of the $185.00 Well as I said there was no response. I would have been a very good client for these people as I would have utilized a number of their services on an ongoing basis. I did make a mistake but I think this is a very bad way to do business and a terrible way to take advantage of someone. Sometimes things just happen!

I always see Rachel, who is friendly and great at what she does. I typically get a trim and permanent color - never anything drastic, like changing hair colors, but I did get bangs for the first time in many years at my last visit. Rachel listened to what I wanted and gave me realistic advice about what looks would work on me. She followed my directions in general but the bangs came out not quite to my liking. 6 weeks later, having grown out some, they look better. The pros for this salon: the prices are reasonable ($75 for a cut and color), they sell what their stylists use on site including brushes and blow dryers, they have male and female stylists which is good if you have a preference, and they take walk-ins. On the downside, they don't take credit cards (cash and checks only - archaic!), they close pretty early on Saturdays and the Saturday appointments fill up quickly - be sure to call at least a couple of days ahead, and the place isn't much to look at on the inside - cramped, no TVs, and could use some renovating. I have been moderately happy with the cuts and colors over the years. Sometimes I feel they have been too conservative when I clearly communicated wanting more dramatic color, for example - or the cut ended up being just a bit shorter than what I asked for. To her credit, Rachel will fine-tune the cut for several more minutes if you are picky like me and her blowouts are great.

I actually hesitated to try a pedicure because I have gone to my normal nail place religiously for years and have been happy but Ratha blew my nail salon out of the water. The attention to detail, the care and consideration of my comfort, and the absolute gorgeous job she did was more than I could have ever hoped. Again, massages are nothing new to me, so I sort of go into each massage knowing what to expect but Courtney melted me. I never fall asleep during a massage (maybe once in my entire life) and I was out like a light at some point. She was so careful of the space on my shoulder I told her about the recent surgery on, but didn't ignore it and deprive me of any of the shoulder massage piece. She accommodated my still-drying toe nails from pedicure prior (I didn't have any choice about timing; I added the pedicure on at the last minute and they were happy to work around my request). I waited in line, sitting in dirty waiting areas, only to get my hair abused by beauty school dropouts. One day, my wife convinced me to go to a "salon." Apparently, there are these places where you can set aside a time - called an "appointment" - to get your hair cut without waiting for 45 minutes. What a concept! I have been going to Spritz ever since that fateful day. Lisa is very professional, and the best part is, she takes her time with the hair cuts and gets it right. I've never had a bad hair cut at Spritz. We also bring in the kids to get their hair cut, and they do it at a reasonable price.
