Looking for a studio to get your child moving? Do not stop here. My child started here in 2021. Her first year, she had a musical theatre teacher quit, a ballet teacher quit, and her Saturday class cancelled. I should have seen the red flags. But I met the dance teacher Rea who so graciously allowed my (then) 4 year old to dance up and join a class for 6+. Because of this dance teacher, my child joined the dance competition team. The team, the dance teacher, the parents have all been amazing. But the studio director Emma is the only reason why we will not be returning. Rehearsals, events, and shows never run on time and working parents are expected to get time off with short notice when Emma finally decides to send schedules out. Private lessons are constantly interrupted by volunteers that Emma has hired or even Emma herself. If you are unfortunate enough to be bumped to the back dance room, be prepared to have your child dance around props and costumes. She is also highly unprofessional, she asks her parent volunteers for far more than she should. Billing is hardly ever on time. This year she double charged my account for lessons that we were previously charged months prior. My emails and texts and stopping at the desk went unanswered. It wasn't until I told the front desk that I was not going to pay for tickets to an event, that Emma was now magically available. Instead of remaining professional and saying it was a clerical error, she chose to blame two other staff members who have nothing to do with billing accounts. And what really did it for us this year was when Emma told her older son to hide behind dance bags at a dance competition in a dressing room for girls only. Other studios complained about her son and many of us moms warned her, and she chose to try to use her daughter's bag and my child's bag for her son to hide. Since that incident she has become vindictive, even going as far as yelling at children that they will not dance at recital. Unfortunately even with a great dance teacher and great community amongst parents, we can no longer subject our child to Emma. Not when my child's is telling me she is scared of her. My daughter has been attending Studio 3 since 2010. I've had all 3 of my children there for classes. Emma, the owner, loves these kids and goes above and beyond for them every chance she gets. I've never seen someone more committed to kids as she is. I consider myself to be a protective parent and I trust Emma and the staff with my kids wholeheartedly. Throughout 2020 they have worked tirelessly to put safe systems and procedures in place to continue providing kids with opportunities to safely rehearse and even perform on stage! Following all city / county / state guidelines and mandates. Even going beyond mandated guidelines when it made it safer for the kids, their families, and staff. Studio 3 is my daughter's "home away from home" many staff and students have become family to her. read more

In response to Sandra's review, I was at the understudy show as a parent and have a completely different take. The kids loved that the director came in and the actor whose line they took was completely aware because the director came in at the time the usual actor does. The actor then came in from a completely different spot. I would imagine the rest of the cast was not uneasy but instead trying hard not to laugh. These kids had begged the director to do the whole part and he said no. This quick change was done in response to their begging. The second scene was also a quick dance in a circle with other cast members and was not dangerous. It was just enough for the audience to realize it was a joke and then they left. My daughter loved these two parts that were done for the understudy show and the kids realize anything can happen. The kids don't necessarily get a full run through but that happens at most places with understudies. Sometimes you get to have a run through but not always. The lifts were actually done by a lot of the same cast. One actor actually came in just for the lift because he did it when he was his main role. The track was definitely legally purchased when they bought the rights. The play stops and gos with music because that is what it does. My daughter attend this wonderful studio! She had lots of fun and couldn't get enough. She was always excited when Tuesday's would come around. That was the day her class was! At the end of the season they put on a great show! Definitely worth it! read more

Although the studio offers many wonderful opportunities for kids, there are many hidden fees and money entanglements. Their website clearly stated each new student gets a FREE week of classes before paying for a chosen class and registration. We registered a new student there but he did not like the first class so we did not make him go back. We let them know but they STILL took the class fee from our account and will only refund us with tuition credits. This is dishonest and false advertisement. If you don't care about money, many students enjoy their time there. But, beware the extra fees and their payment policies that they clearly don't follow themselves. read more

My daughters - one of whom has moved to NYC to continue her acting career, thanks to Studio 3 - have been attending this studio for 6 years. It has been nothing but a wonderful experience. The theatre and performing experiences have made them into true triple threat performers. Took in the matinee of The Drowsy Chaperone last Saturday. I had a blast at the show! I couldn't believe the ages of the cast and the mega watt talent of each of these performers!!! I was pleasantly and delightfully surprised of the caliber of this studio. I've seen many theatre performances in the valley and will definitely be back! I can't wait until the next show!!! Bravo Studio 3 and all your Broadway babes! I have no doubt we will see one or more of these kids on Broadway or the big screen sometime soon!!! read more

The kids that go to this studio seem to really enjoy it. Zib is an excellent teacher. I am concerned about the quality of some of the other classes - especially the mixed age groups. It's really difficult to teach a class that has both 5 and 15 year olds in it. Not sure based on my first experience if I'm willing to go back and give it another chance. That said, the kids had an incredible time - all of the students attending really seemed to be enjoying themselves. read more

My daughter moved to Studio 3 after years at a different theater. She felt she needed more in the way of dance and singing experience. Studio 3 has delivered! In the year and a half we've been here, my daughter has grown exponentially in all areas of theater discipline. She is a strong singer and tap and jazz dancer, as well as a more well rounded actress. She's gotten to take part in shows that push her and give her challenges, making for the ability to hone and polish her craft. I have also seen her adapt beautifully to the positive environment Studio 3 has created for kids. They are all very supportive of each other and there is no place for bullying. That was a huge factor for me, as a parent. I can say Emma and her staff truly care about building character and skill in these kids and as someone who has a child looking to pursue acting in the future, this is a great place for her to achieve her individual goals and become a triple threat! read more

My daughter has been attending 2 years and I feel my review is overdue. This place is Fantastic! My daughter has grown so much in her vocal ability and musical understanding, her dance level and flexibility, and in her character acting. She's made a lot of friends at this place and I know she's with a good crowd of kids. Their class costs are comparable to other Gilbert/Chandler studios, but I found they are actually more affordable for the company fees and musical productions. They require some volunteer time to keep these costs down, but you can opt out for a fee, I volunteer for stuff I'm good at so enjoy it. My daughter and I have gotten closer because of this place, she feels I support her in her interests and likes me attending her shows, which I do because they are really really well produced, these kids are super talented! and now that includes my daughter too :) read more

We are in the middle of a free trial week for Studio 3 and trying out various classes. They didn't realize that my was daughter signed up for a trial for the vocal class tonight and nobody else had signed up for the class. Instead of canceling, they gave my daughters a private evaluation and lesson. The only problem we are having is deciding which classes they want to sign up for. They love them all! All of the teachers are so wonderful and you can see that they love what they do. My girls did musical theater at another location and I didn't realize how horrible their classes and training really were until this week. Technique is emphasized at Studio 3 and they are learning how to really sing properly and learn important fundamentals. Thanks! I would stay as far away from this place as possible. It's great if your child is Emma's favorite. If not, get used to back row positions etc. This was not the case for my child -- but it happened ALL the time to my friend's kids! I had a child there until I just couldn't take it anymore. Emma is a control freak. She really is in this because it's all about her... If you like being around snobby parents and kids who think they are all that -- then by all means -- go to this place. You will love it! If you want them to be more inclusive and not play favorites -- this is NOT the place. Oh... and if you want to be in a play -- unless your child is her favorite -- you will likely see them in ensemble over and over again. No more for me! read more

My kids have attended three other dance/performing arts centers in the valley, and this has been our favorite to date by far. If you attend during the summer they will be either camps or "drop in" classes, so you will have a large age span, which is a little more difficult to instruct by ability level. But during the school year all classes are divided by age and ability level, and the instruction is superb. We have loved all of the different teachers we have taken classes with, and my kids have progressed tremendously since we began here. I would definitely recommend this performing arts center if you want your kids to progress and also have a great time! read more
