I want to start this review off with an apology. I want to apologize to my stylist and the owner of Studio 209 for my unnecessarily harsh words last weekend in my original review. I crossed the line. I did not give a fair and balanced assessment of the haircut or service I received. Instead, I raged, and I used Yelp as an outlet for my dissatisfaction in a way that was constructive to no one, and generally hurtful. Both my tone and content were inappropriate. I am sincerely sorry to anyone who I hurt or offended in my review. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, review: Last Saturday morning I went to Salon 209 for styling and MAYBE a slight trim. The end result: I was extremely dissatisfied with the hair cut I received. On Sunday night, after seething for 4 hours over my haircut on my drive home, I wrote my first ever yelp review. I was definitely over the line angry, and much more interested in expressing my dissatisfaction than with giving a review. I got my hair re-cut on Monday at a different Wheaton salon (that did a great job), and basically forgot about the whole thing. Until 1 week later, I got a call on my cellphone from Linda, the owner of Studio 209. I didn't actually know why she was calling until she reminded me of the Yelp review I wrote last week, and told me she was sorry that I was so unhappy with my haircut. She asked if there was anything they could do to fix it. She offered a free consultation and cut, and even a refund of my money from last week. Which is WAY more than I ever would have expected. Especially after my bratty review. I was way over the line, but she was still incredibly gracious and generous, and she sincerely wanted to make amends. To sum up, I was not happy with the cut I received. But that was no excuse for my reaction to it. And I was truly impressed with the above and beyond customer service I received after my cut, despite my unreasonably angry and over-the-top review. Now I can say that I would even recommend this place to others. If you're unhappy with the cut you receive, just let them know, and they will be more than gracious and reasonable in making it right. read more

WOW! I went back for a "body tuneup" which is a short massage they usually do on the neck and shoulders in a massage chair. I had Cindy as my massage therapist and she was INCREDIBLE. She truly knows what she is doing. She knew what my issues were right away without me saying anything. She was one of the first massage therapists I've had that actually worked on my neck and jaw which I really needed. I always hope for some information when I go for a massage and she volunteered a lot of extremely helpful information- I was really appreciative for the education and so thankful for her work on me. I'm sold- I will be back! One other thing- you can make appointments online- I was skeptical at first but it was really easy and specific and I think it's a great system! read more

This spa/salon is located right on Front Street in downtown Wheaton. I gave it 4 stars because you can have a problem finding parking, but other than that it's great. They have a kids playroom in the front with a Nintendo if you are stuck bringing your kids along with you. There's always the latest magazines to read and the salon area isn't so huge that you feel like just another number. I go to Toni for my hair and she is very accommodating and not pushing the hair products at all. She does it all - washes my hair, towels it off, cuts and highlights it. Some of those fancy spas have the shampoo girl, the towel girl, the stylist...by the end of the appointment you're not sure who to tip what. My favorite thing about this place is that you can book your appointment online. No more worrying if you can find the calendar/palm pilot. Just book it at home when you know what's going on. They also give you a reminder call the day before so you don't forget about your appointment. It's also next door to the popcorn shop which not only sells popcorn, but all that penny candy that you can never find. So after your appointment is finished, go there and get a few Mary Janes and BB Bats! read more

I had a wonderful experience here today. I have been searching for a new stylist in the Wheaton area for a while and ave had very little luck. I should have tried Studio 209 much sooner! My stylist was wonderful. It had been a while since I got my haircut, and my hair was pretty damaged. She did an awesome job taking the time to talk about my hair, told me things I could do to help get my hair in better shape, and gave me a great cut! Not to mention the price was very reasonable. Absolutely fantastic! I spent close to 5 hours in the salon today with Michelle, she did a balayage and was amazing! Michelle heard about my horrible salon experiences in the past and took every step possible to make sure I was happy with the end result! Michelle listened to what I wanted, but also used her professional opinion and the opinions of a couple other stylists about the best way to achieve the look I wanted! It was very reassuring to hear that she continues to take hair technique classes to stay up to date! Michelle and another stylist(heather, I think) both were great when it came to touching up spots that they weren't happy with! It was truly a pleasure to spend the day with these ladies! Where do I even begin in describing how great this place is? I called Studio 209 on a whim trying to book a little spa day. The receptionist, Bonnie, worked so hard to find a time that would work. I have been going to Jamie since I was 12 years old. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair and waxing, she really does a wonderful job. I totally trust her judgement and always ask her what she thinks I should do with my hair. Jamie also does a wonderful job with waxing. Jamie and other stylists also did all the hair for myself and my bridesmaids on my wedding. They all looked amazing, and I absolutely loved my hair for my big day. It is hard to get into see Jamie on a short notice, but booking online is really helpful in finding a good time that works for me on her schedule. They are a little overpriced for coloring, so I do go elsewhere for my highlights. read more

I've been a client of Alicia's for years and was so heart broken when I moved away from the area that I started scheduling appointments with her whenever I was traveling back in Illinois. You can tell she has a lot of great experience and really cares about her clients' hair, plus she's always on top of the new coloring techniques and styles. I've also gotten a really great facial at Studio 209 from Jamie. I noticed a lot of reviews about parking but unless walking a block from the garage is a problem I've never had an issue. I have been going to Studio 209 for years. Everytime I am there I get greart service and all the staff is very friendly. I get my haricut by LaToya and she is great at men's cuts, color and razor cutting. LaToya really takes the time to speak to you about what you want in your cut and color before doing anything to your hair. Parking can be an issue, but I always fund parking either right on Main Street or in the parking garage a few blocks away. Prices are resonable and they just opened a really cool Men's area in the salon for the guys! Also, for city dwellers, the salon is right off the Downtown Wheaton stop on the UP West line, so it's easy to access wihtout a car. read more

After trying lots of businesses in and around Wheaton and finding inconsistent results, I finally found Linda and her crew. My hair always looks fabulous when I leave her chair. I first began working with her when she styled my hair for a "So Stylish" photo shoot and have gone to her ever since. She's particularly good at getting perfect layers. Instead of overlooking the back, she has a way of turning it into a work of art. Her studio is clean, well decorated, and up to date. I like the online scheduling too for my crazy schedule. They have a new massage therapist named Eduard. He has been my therapist for the last 5 years. He is excellent. He does a fantastic deep tissue that has helped my SI JOINT PAIN. She stayed with them when they moved from their previous location (209 Hale St.) to the current location on Front St. I asked her why she stayed with them since there are a number of salons closer to our house. She said it was because she liked the owner, Linda, and the other employees AND the place was always clean. A little pricey for a haircut, but they don't just cut your hair, they wash and style it as well, (unlike places such as great clips) so I'm alright with it. Everyone I've met there is so friendly and professional, its always a great experience. My usual stylist left to go do work elsewhere and i like my new stylist just as much. I used to come here regularly until I received some truly terrible service. I couldn't see my regular stylist on short notice so I made an appointment with someone I had never seen before. When I showed up for my highlights the girl said she couldn't do foils and was going to do the cap instead.. worse experience in my whole life... hurt like hell. It was summer and the salon was like 100 degrees and with the plastic cap strapped to my head it was worse. She left the dye on my hair so long that my regular stylist actually came over and had to look at my hair and then scolded the girl for leaving it on too long. I wasn't too happy with the cap highlights and when I got home I realized that there were huge bleach patches on the back of my shirt. At some point the stylist had to have seen this since it was such a large area. When I called to complain about the service and my shirt the manager was totally and completely rude and uncaring, all I really wanted was an apology... and that was the last time I went to Studio 209, I go to Zazu now. read more

Michelle B cuts/colors my hair, she also styles my three daughters and now my husband. I don't know what kind of magic she does, but her haircuts last twice as long as anyplace else I've been. She carefully evaluates and makes recommendations on style and color based on different hair textures. I've learned to listen to her and then just say "yes" because she's always right and I trust her 100%! She works us in as best she can with our crazy schedules and I always appreciate that. Also important- she is great at small talk so it's fun the whole time you're in the chair. We adore her and I can tell the customers who see other stylists at Studio 209 seem just as happy. I talked my bff who was looking for a bit of a new look in to going to this salon . I had remembered going here years ago for my nails and seeing a lot of good stylists doing good hair. Also, reviews read on Yelp convinced me! Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Nice waiting area and children's area (separate), also. Product available but not "pushed". Lauren was stylist and she was very good and very helpful.She went out of her way to make sure my friend was happy and comfortable with the cut and style and also that she knew how to take care of it when she got home. Parking on street is nearly impossible but you can get lucky within a block. Also, free parking lot is practically around the corner. If you are not familiar with downtown Wheaton, there are plenty of places to shop and eat which are delightful, too. read more
