We used this company twice. The second time we moved one mile to a smaller home. The second day of moving, the head guy was at a funeral. A young guy made sarcastic remarks. I would give them lower than one star if possible. My shipment was delayed by 5 days and there was no communication from the company. I had to call few times to find out when shipment would be delivered. Upon getting the shipment I found out they didn't handle the shipment correctly. Most of the boxes marked Fragile were broken and were put at the bottom of the pile. I was really surprised to see plastic tote marked fragile was smashed and broken. I had a lot of damage to my shipment overall besides being delayed by a week. read more

We recently PCS'ed from Hawaii. Move #11...this was one of the best crews yet for an unpack. Efficient, and professional. Thank you, Christian, John, Chris, Ethan, and Mark. Keep up the great work. They even returned to grab the excess packaging, and boxes when we called(not always the case in military moves). Damaged an item during the move. I've filed a claim. No response from the company. UPDATE: I received a phone call from a Studdard employee yesterday (5/11/18) who expressed his incredulity over the way my claim was being handled. He stated that a check would be immediately mailed to settle the full cost of my claim. I am raising my review from 1 star to 4 stars* because of the response specifically from Studdard. The initial issues with my claim were the result of the unethical business practices of Unigroup, which owns Mayflower and United (I have posted a review of Unigroup. *I won't grant 5 stars because Studdard chooses to affiliate itself with a morally bankrupt organization. read more

From the very beginning there was confusion over when my move would occur and who would do it. There was supposed to be a Move Coordinator assigned but she had apparently quit and the company didn't assign a new coordinator. My employer worked to get me in touch with Studdard Moving and after several calls I spoke to very briefly to a Man who promised he would coordinate my move and would answer any questions I had. I was not able to contact him again and only heard from him when the claims process had failed. The Salesman called and scheduled a time to come out but then showed up an hour before the appointment and had to be called back out to speak to me. He claimed to know absolutely nothing. And couldn't even say who was doing my move or when it would occur. Packing day; Not one of them claims to have any knowledge of anything other than boxes. On the phone again. Even held up packing and threatened to cancel the move but secured false promise that it would get better. It never did. I was never shown or given any inventory sheets or asked to agree on the condition of any of my goods as required. Delivery day comes and all goes well until we begin finding the damages. When I ask about filing a claim, crickets. Nobody wanted to tell me anything. The Top Man was again non-responsive. In frustration, contact my employer who gets Studdard to send me a claim form. I had questions about the claim process and made several calls to Studdard before speaking with someone that told me my claim had to be filed within 30 days of delivery. Two weeks of that had already passed. Claim is filed and again crickets. I called repeatedly to verify they received the claim and finally reached someone a week later that told me the claim had been received. An Adjuster comes out and he conveniently disregards wife's mention of the top on an antique buffet so the settlement offer I get THREE MONTHS later, and only after prompting, is grossly inadequate. I address that and a few other items immediately and crickets. I discover the 30 day filing deadline given me was wrong and I request to append the claim. Crickets. After multiple requests they allow an appended claim and even recognized the filing of it like they should. They have 30 days to respond. We are discussing the damages to my antique buffet and a valuable porcelain lamp. They twist information and falsely claim the adjuster is a furniture repairman and will repair my buffet. I call the third party furniture repairman who refuses to repair my buffet for the amount offered. I then am told third party he has changed his mind but after again calling him almost daily for 3 weeks with no response. Third party finally responds through a review left about their business. Says the shipper told him NOT to make repairs and let Shipper contact me but the never did. Employer directs them 2 weeks ago to settle based on their contract obligation and crickets. Going on 135 days now and still waiting. WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER! read more

Studdard has moved my family many times over the years. They have always delivered good customer service to my family. My mom suggested that I used them again, however this time was not such a good idea. The day of my move they told me they'd be there between 9 and 10am. They weren't there and I called them and they said they would be there at noon. They were not there at noon and I called them again and they said they would be there at 4. The movers did a great job and I was very pleased with what they did, but I asked them why they were so late. They said that they did not know that they were going to be going there that afternoon and it was a surprise. My stuff was then put in storage for a couple weeks. The day before I am to move in, I give them a call and ask what time I should expect the truck. They said there was a window of time that they had to deliver the furniture, and that it wouldn't arrive for another 7 days. They were not apologetic in the least. They never explained this to me to begin with. And they never told me my stuff will not be there on the expected day. I had to call to find out myself the day before. So now I have to move into a house and live without furniture for a week. My dog will not have his kennel amd cannot be left alone without it as he is a large puppy. And I will have to take off work and lose pay for an additional day and my patients will be without a doctor for that day. At that time I read the contract, and it stated that they had a 7 day time period to deliver my belongings however it was something that never came up when I arranged the move. Make sure you read the fine print. So I accept some responsibility, but for the fact that they had i not called before the expected day, i would have been sitting in front of my place wondering when my things would arrive. That thought infuriates me and shows a complete lack of customer service. I called the Mayflower corporate office and explained the situation. They were very nice and asked who my moving coordinator was. I didnt know, but apparently they should have someone working me through the process and explaining when things would arrive and so on. If someone on the Studdard team would have spent 5 minutes to explain things a few weeks ago or even a few days ago, i wouldn't be in a new city in an empty house, sleeping on the floor, losing money due to extra time off work, and patients not getting their care because of their thoughtlessness. read more

Studdard was the company the military contracted to move our stuff from our old address to my husband's new duty station. We worked with two other companies during the process -one we hired personally to get our stuff into storage in KS, and one the military contracted to move our stuff into our new home in a different state. The two other companies were by far more efficient, competent, professional, and easier to work with. Studdard was only responsible for moving our stuff from a small storage unit to a truck. Most of it was already packed, with the exception of a few awkward items, fragile items, and a few small boxes that needed to be packaged into larger boxes. We had one TV, no couches, no dining table, and very few other large/heavy items. We left fragile items out, because we were told the company would likely prefer to do it themselves and after all, we figured they were experts. Wrong! I had discussed all of these things with their move coordinator over the phone previously, so it's not like any of this was a surprise. Anyway, it took four workers almost all day to move the stuff directly from the storage unit to the truck. The moving company who moved our stuff into storage took 2 hours, with three workers (this included dismantling multiple beds). The movers who unloaded our stuff here with three people took three hours, including a lunch break. One of the Studdard workers complained THE ENTIRE TIME and didn't help the other workers much. They took frequent breaks. They didn't ask us any questions about packing the stuff we had left out. Granted, it was cold, but as a mover, you work in the elements. The other moving company moved our stuff on a colder day without complaint! Once our stuff was delivered to our new home, wet discovered how poor of job Studdard did packing the few things they packed. The moving company on this end was irritated, because Studdard did things like put several smaller boxes of text books (clearly labeled) into giant moving boxes, creating really heavy boxes. They used one strip of tape on the boxes and most were coming open. Several large boxes were half packed so they crushed under the weight of heavier items that had been placed on top. The moving company here said it seemed like a professional company packed the boxes we packed, and the boxes packed by Studdard seemed like they were packed by people with no moving experience. The boxes Studdard packed were clearly labeled with the Studdard logo, so it was obvious who did what. Once we started unpacking, we discovered more craziness. Studdard mislabeled multiple boxes. When we first got our boxes unloaded, we were shocked how many of them were labeled "baby clothes". We knew we had many boxes of old baby clothes, but not that many! It turns out, we didn't have that many. We found kitchen stuff, linens, garage stuff, books, etc. Packed in boxes marked "baby clothes." All of the boxes we packed were clearly labeled, how hard would it have been to simply copy over the writing from the box we packed, to the larger boxes they put our stuff in? We also have multiple broken items because they did things like pack a printer in a box with a full tool box and heavy poker set on top. Our wedding champagne flutes (again clearly labeled, in the original Lennox box and packaging), were crushed because they were packed at the bottom of a box full of books! Sturdy stuff that has been with us through several moves was broken. The toddler bed they disassembled was thrown into pieces in random places. The hardware to put it back together was stuffed in another randomly labeled box. It goes on and on.... Sorry for the length of this review, but we were really upset with our experience, especially after having such a great experience with the other moving companies. Between the two other companies, we tipped over $300 in cash and food. I felt bad not tipping this company, even with poor service, until we got unpacked and realized how many broken things we had. I'm not sure if the company just didn't care, or figured it wasn't a big deal since we didn't have many high value items like expensive TVs and fancy furniture, but I sure hope people who do have these things see more care taken with their items. It also irritates us when we see companies making good money on government contracts doing crappy work. read more

I have moved several times with this company over the years and have seen a drastic decline in service. My agency pays a significant cost to move employees and Studdard takes advantage of the moving employees at every turn. The driver pays local movers to pack and load your goods. The driver doesn't care about how they pack or what they pack as long as it fits into their window of profit. The Driver is already looking at his next move before he is done with yours. When they unpack, they don't put all of the furniture together and put your goods wherever they want. The last driver I had left his cigarette butts in my front lawn, kept asking if he could use my shower in the evening and didn't wrap many furniture items in blankets as was evidenced by his white paint on my furniture from the inside of his truck walls. The service was good 10 years ago but now is awful. I won't ever use them again.........several other companies out there who can do much better for the cost. read more
