My sister and I looked up their hours online which stated 8am-8pm. We arrived around 6:10pm and saw that they were packing up and flipped the sign to "closed". I was distraught! Especially because we drove ~40 miles for the ice cream. I went up to the stand anyway and the workers were nice enough to still serve me. I am very grateful for their kindness and grace!

We…read morewere looking for something sweet after a long day of baseball and holy smoke did we find it!! It's a small building on the main road, but you can easily miss it. You just order from the front porch, but there is an outdoor covered picnic area if you want to eat it there. We walked up and when my son saw the desserts, he said "I just drooled!" I looked down and that boy legit drooled on the porch or The Front Porch (I'll spare you a picture.) When Mrs. Lisa opened the window and told us what everything was, we didn't know how we would choose, and my son said "We'll have one of everything!" While we didn't get one of everything we may or may not have gotten a chocolate chip cookie, a cupcake, a slice of red velvet cake, and 2 red velvet Oreo brownies. I was sure we had just racked up a $40 tab, nope...$18. (I almost ordered more ) Mrs. Lisa was so sweet and had a beautiful story of how The Front Porch started, but that's her story to tell, so you'll have to stop and ask yourself! I think the price point was about the same as The Mix, but you get the added experience of watching your ice cream get made from scratch. So, what does ice cream made to order taste like? The consensus at our table was that it the ice cream itself was less sweet than we expected. I preferred the slightly less sweet, more natural taste. Gram would have liked it to be a little sweeter. That said, she was tasting MC's vanilla ice cream that had no mix-ins. Alina's ice cream was cookie dough and twix flavored and I think the additional mix-ins made her taste much sweeter. I think everyone was pleasantly surprised by the texture. It was VERY creamy. The quick freezing process minimizes crystallization, so you're tasting pure melt-in-your-mouth frozen cream. All in all, this was a fun treat and a must do next time you're in downtown Valdosta!
