Diana is exceptional in her attention to detail and has a great personality and care for the patients. And, of course, Dr. Iskander was amazing and attentive as always. I guessed it might be cataracts. I searched for "best cataract surgeon in San Antonio", which led us to San Antonio Eye Specialists. Oh. My. Goodness. What a welcome and helpful difference in doctors, and outcomes! SA Eye Specialists are in a beautiful facility that is sparkling clean and welcoming. The office staff are friendly, and efficient. The medical staff are phenomenal, from our initial screenings & testing all the way up to and including Dr. Membreno, who now has replaced both my cataracts with the Light Adjustable Lens, while my husband went with Dr. Membreno's suggestion of a Toric lens for his situation. We are both absolutely delighted! I've been through an additional, unexpected (by me) procedure after there was clouding connected to my new lenses, before we could start the light adjustments (I think the "clouding" is called YAG or something? Apparently extremely common; I was lucky mine occurred - and was corrected - prior to the adjustments to my lenses.). All was handled quickly, with everything being explained clearly and thoroughly, from beginning to end. Dr. Membreno is phenomenal, and I'd recommend him in a heartbeat, to anyone with eye concerns. What struck me the most about him initially is his knack for being present: When he's with you, he's 10000% tuned in to YOU. It's as if he has nothing else in the world to concern him aside from you. What a reassuring and comforting experience, especially regarding something as important as your eyes and vision! We now consider San Antonio Eye Specialists our one-and-only eye doctor, as we will be coming here for any & all eye issues we have that fall within their purview. As one who has worn glasses or contacts for ~60 years, saying I'm ecstatic to be able to see is an enormous understatement. Colors are vivid and clear like I don't remember seeing, ever. I'm still undergoing adjustments on the light adjustable lens and yet already I'm able to read fairly well, and crochet, without glasses. Very excited and pleased!

He was easily bothered by questions and it almost felt like we were dealing with an Ai robot. He was very cold almost to the point of being rude. My wife received an injection in her eye. He didn't prepare her what to expect when receiving the injection. That's why when he injected directly into her eye she jerked. He not only got upset with her for jerking, he asked the most ridiculous question. He asked "What's wrong " she explained that he hurt her. My wife said afterward that if he had prepared her for what to expect then she wouldn't have jerked the way she did. You can have all the education in the world but it still can't teach you to be compassionate. Compassion really comes from the heart. You can also tell by the way he speaks to his nurses. Hopefully he realizes soon that being a doctor doesn't make you better than everyone else it just provides you the opportunity to make people's lives better

I had checked to see what was around the area & found this office online. Funny thing was that a YouTube video with Dr. Allison Young talking about Floaters popped up into my feed? I watched the whole video which was very informative and found she was at this office. I decided to read some Yelp reviews and call the office the next day. I called the office, explained my situation and asked what the out of pocket costs were? The clerk was very helpful and recognized my urgency so she told me what the out of pocket costs were for the eye tests and any test after. She also mentioned if I needed a specialist, the doctor would let me know after the test results. I was willing to pay for peace of mind before the weekend and didn't want to wait in case I had a detached retina or retinal tear. It's the holidays and I just wanted to get it over with, deal with whatever and move on. Thankfully the clerk was able to fit me in within 1.5 hours so I took it. She told me I would have my eyes dilated and the tests may take 1.5-2 hrs. I was reluctant at first because who wants to drive in traffic with dilated eyes where everything is super bright but I sucked it up and took the appointment. I came in and it was a busy lobby with lots of patients. I filled out my health info on the tablet vs. on paper and submitted it. I was probably seen by the tech about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment. Tori was the tech's name and she was friendly and easy going. I explained my symptoms and gave her my last Optometrist's Exam Notes which I had online so that was really helpful. She took some vision tests, we chatted and she dilated my eyes with the eye drops. She was upbeat, personable and we talked about the growth and people from the city among other things and said I had really good vision. I didn't feel like a number with her friendliness and making it a positive experience. Tori took me into another room where the doctor would be examining me. It was an interesting room with Texas Longhorn decor...lots of it on the walls. A very Texan motif and not sterile by any means. I probably waited another 5-10 minutes until I was finally seen by Dr. Jana Waters. She had an assistant named Juan who took notes while she administered my exam. I told her my symptoms and having floaters in the past and she did the exam. Afterwards, she said my eye was fine, no detached retina so I was so relieved!! She told me what to look out for and what was happening which was just fluid leaking from the back but no detachment. I asked if I could do jump tucks and if that would affect it jumping around and she said no. She just said if I see a dark black circle that's constant or if I'm experiencing anything else, to come in and she'll have a look at it. I told her I prayed at church today and she said "Well prayer helps!!" Afterwards, I checked out and only had to pay for the price of a regular exam, no extra tests needed! I was pleased with the service and personnel from front desk check in to the Med Tech, Tori and Dr. Waters. The only thing I would suggest is to sanitize every surface a patient is putting their chin on. I saw Lysol spray on the counter so I assume it's being used? I just remember the protocols my regular Optometrist's office followed during my exam earlier this year. Every machine surface was sanitized by an alcohol wipe before each patient put their face/chin on it. I also saw my doctor washing her hands before examining me. I appreciated their conscientiousness in the office from the staff.
