How things change over the years. I have been a customer for nearly 10 years and they have now lost my business. Scott, the manager, is amazing but when he is not in the staff is rude and condescending. I had several bad experiences when he was not in including being told the work on my car was not worth their time. There are discrepancies in how to even get work done. I am told over the phone I don't need an appointment (especially if I am dropping it off for the day) but when I go to drop it off I am turned away because I don't have an appointment. My AC has also broken three times in the last year and fan switch twice now also within a year. It only got fixed the last time because I had spoken to Scott the day before and he told me to bring it in, the man at the front desk, Pete, was about to tell me to leave (as he did today). I am now going to the dealer instead. read more

Brought my car for a flat repair. The low tire indicator remained on and brought the car to dealership only to find out that the TPMS was removed from the tire. STS said that they would pay for the TPMS but after a few weeks went by and the refund was not issued, I was told that the do not want to take any responsibility. Manager was extremely rude and claimed that the dealership had lied to me. read more

if I could give less stars I would. After dropping off my trucks to get tires out on my stock rims. I picked up my truck when done and was told my "yolk" was off and I should get an alignment. after The holiday weekend when I realized my steering was off, I took it to my guy and was told " someone had to try to make the alignment this off". What STS did not realize was the truck was purchased week before and was a dodge certified vehicle. i also took the truck to my mechanic the two days before and he went over it and said truck was in great shape, no issues . Being that I am out of commission for partying for 2 weeks, I will write a tire place review on Saturday night! Yeah my life is sad, I am on an antibiotic that forbids drinking. So anyway, I had to get my tires from discounttiredirect.com mounted on my wheels. These wheels are a bit tricky because they are unidirectional, and one tire is wider than the other(staggered). However anyone that knows basics about tires should be able to handle this. This is not the case though, every place screws up my wheels and tires. This place mounted 18 inch 40 series tires for $24 a wheel including tire disposal which is very cheap. They did an excellent job in not scratching up my wheels and actually doing them right. Walked in with wheels on a busy saturday when they had tons of cars there, and got a call about 1 hr later to come get my wheels. I recently stopped into STS (Mount Sinai) to have the required Carfax photos taken of my car. The man at the counter was extremely rude and wanted to make an appointment to take the 3 photos a few days later. I explained there was a glitch with my insurance and they were warning me to do it "immediately" and since it was only 3 pics could he be kind enough to help me out? He basically didn't even give me the courtesy of looking up at me from his schedule book, just said "Nope". I drove down the road to another Carfax location (who, by the way seemed much busier at that moment) and the man could not have been nicer!! The whole process took about 4 minutes!! Wake up STS, doing a local person a tiny favor one day might lead to a big sale or at least a great recommendation to other local people to increase your business. read more

Unreliable, Unsafe and Over-priced: I tried to purchase 2 Michelin tires to exactly match the existing tires on my Volvo. They confirmed that they had them stock, at $149 each, and I could come back the next day for installation. On returning, I was told the tires were discontinued by Michelin but they would install a lower-rated Michelin tire at $154 each. However, I was not interested since installing tires with a lower rating is a safety issue and is not recommended by either the vehicle or tire manufacturer. In the end, I purchased matching Michelin tires, at Mavis, for $139 each, which I am happy to say was a straight-forward and pleasant experience. BTW: The lower-rated Michelin tires were only $107 at Mavis!! read more

I recently brought my Mazda 3 into STS Tire & Auto Center in Mt. Sinai, NY, for a pair of new tires and rotation of the old ones. My intent was to get all four replaced, but I didn't have the money for all of them just yet. So, as requested, STS kept the tires that were in best condition and put them on the back to put my brand new ones on the front of the car. In the days following this, I noticed strange road noise coming from my rear passenger tire. I had a number of other people listen and look at it to get feedback on whether this was something I should be concerned about. Nobody seemed to notice any imperfection in the tire at first glance and the noise only came and went . A week later, the noise suddenly became louder, more constant, and the car actually began to handle differently. I pulled over immediately and ran around to the back of the car expecting a flat tire. Nothing. Between the dark and my lack of knowledge about what to be looking for, I saw nothing distinguishable about this tire but knew something was not right. I put on my hazards and let the car roll into a parking lot. I called nearby friends for help and one of them noticed immediately that I was missing lug nuts. I had only one out of five lug nuts on my rear passenger tire, as I had been gradually losing them throughout the week due to the fact that STS failed to put them on right. My friend pulled the last one off without any struggle. My tire had been ready to fall off. The following day, I had to take my car back to STS--a place I would never like to visit again--to rectify what they had done wrong. There was damage to my tire, my alloy wheel, my lugs, and I needed replacement lug nuts. STS did not have my wheel in stock so after a few hours repairing what they could, they put my spare tire on the car and sent me off with it. They said they would have my wheel in by noon the following day, which was a Saturday. Noon came and went that day and still no wheel! My entire morning had been jeopardized by STS' enormous mistake, as I had to wait by my phone for a wheel that never came and put off all kinds of plans. I did not have an hour to give to STS after noon that day as I had an important meeting that was quite a distance away, which also involved highway driving. Therefore, because STS couldn't stand by their word of having the wheel by 12, now I wouldn't even have my wheel until MONDAY. Which also means that I had to go an entire weekend, traveling on my spare tire, putting easily over 200 miles on it and doing necessary highway driving. Due to STS' poor time management, unprofessional workmanship, carelessness, and downright dangerous behavior, I had been inconvenienced to no end. I have expended immeasurable amounts of time, energy, gasoline, and consequentially, money, and am dissatisfied, disappointed, and disgusted. My father has been a long-time customer at STS in Mt. Sinai and has taken many vehicles from our entire family there. I will NEVER bring my car back to STS and I will not recommend STS to anybody. The only positive about this entire ordeal is that my tire didn't fly off on a highway and result in a massive car accident, which very likely could have happened! read more

Worst customer service ever. I called ahead to get an appointment for oil change stating that I will wait for my vehicle, which per the person will be about 1h. The person on the phone gave me an appointment without problems then call me back 2 days after to confirm I was coming. I came on the day and time of my appointment to be told that I have to leave the vehicle for the day or that wait time was going to be several hours. I left and went elsewhere where they did the job in a matter of 1/2h. As this place is close to my neighborhood I decided to give them a second chance, same stuff happened. They won't see me back. I went to this place cause my buddy in my car club said if I wanted it done right these were the guys. So I go in and it give them a shot. I was extremely pleased with the whole process. Knowledgeable and professional is an understatement. I watched the man who did my car and he didnt know I was watching.
