I went to this shop for a diagnosis of my vehicle (2002 Hyundai). The younger son was helpful and had a decent sense of customer service. Thank you nick.
However, the diagnosis I received for my car was INCOMPLETE. My car has a BAD shimmey while driving and feels unsafe at speeds. When Dano looked at what was needed, he explained I needed upper control arms on both sides, a lower control arm and a sway link on the driver side. Nick wrote this down with his quoted labor charge.
I went ahead and bought a COMPLETE 12 peice front end kit. This kit has all the above parts and more. When i brought it to the shop, they checked to make sure the parts were CORRECT. Once they confirmed this, they proceeded to put on ONLY what they had quoted me for as we agreed upon in the beginning. (I have a bunch of space parts now)
After the work was done, I drove my vehicle and immediately realized the shimmey was still there and even seemed more noticable. I could feel the difference the control arms made, the car did not clunk. But the ORIGINAL REASON I WENT THERE was NOT ADDRESSED. When I brought the car back, I was told it just needs new tires and an alignment to fix the shimmey, both services they don't offer.
The next day (today) I bought those new tires and got the alignment at another shop that provides these services. While I was there, their mechanic called me into the shop BEFORE doing any extra work, to show me my ripped CV axle boot as well as a number of other small things that needed addressing.
He then told me any mechanic worth his salt would have clearly told me I needed to replace the axle (as well as the other parts correctly diagnosed). And after seeing it with my own eyes, it was clear to me that he HAD to have seen this while doing the work but STILL did the work anyway.
This could have been an honest mistake, so I called to tell him the story in a CALM manner; Giving Dano the benefit of the doubt.(which was not easy). He proceeds to LIE and tell me he told me I needed the part. Then when I told him that's not what you said, OR what was given to me in the diagnosis I paid for, he began cursing at me and yelling WHO THE F*** DO YOU THINK YOUR TALKING TO!...
..If you've read this far I hope you skip over to the next mechanic because CLEARLY this guys on his way out (or will be soon if his work is like this). In all, I replaced control arms and sway link, 2 new tires, and an alignment, my car still has a death shimmey and I'm out $700+.
I sell used cars part time. I've been a DIY grease monkey since I was 14. I'm 25 now. This wasn't just a one time bad deal. I deal with many mechanics and this was the worst experience I've ever had.
