ROYALLY SCREWED…read more Brought in my 2009 Honda Civic for air conditioning repair. Brian (owner/mechanic) told me I needed a new compressor and a new belt. He promised to do a full repair, soup to nuts. Nothing slapdash or temporary. We agreed on a price of $900. I informed Brian that I make my living driving for Lyft/Uber; that I DEPEND on my car for WORK. I also informed him that I share custody of a special needs child, that I need my car for visitation. Two days later I picked up the car, paid CASH. Had a new belt and compressor; the AC worked well, felt great. I couldn't have been happier. Twenty four hours later . . . I start the car, turn on AC. Hot air. Not a trace of refrigerant. Engine just has to warm up, I tell myself. I give it fifteen minutes. Twenty minutes. No. Still nothing. Hotter inside the car than outside. I immediately take the car back to Royal Auto Care and Brian (acting vaguely annoyed, not at all concerned or apologetic) tells me he'll take care of it right away, just leave the car. While waiting for an Uber, I watch as other customers roll in and have their cars driven into one of the bays, put on a lift. When my uber finally arrives (half an hour later), my car is still there in the parking lot. So much for "right away". Five o'clock rolls around and no word from Brian (he'd assured me when I brought the car in, "I believe in good communication"). The next morning he calls and tells me the compressor he installed was 'bad' and that he's gone ahead and ordered a new one and is having it Fed-Exed. Should have it tomorrow. BTW tomorrow was last Thursday, a week ago from today. No word from him all weekend. I call Monday around noon and he claims the compressor he'd had Fed-Exed was "also bad". Wow. Not one, but TWO bad compressors. What are the odds, right? Now when I phone (no more than once a day, I'm not a pest) I get the same response: "I'm still working on it." No apology. No clear updates. Just deflection. And palpable annoyance. Here's the problem: I've already paid him. In cash no less. There's no urgency, he has no real obligation to finish the job in a timely, professional fashion. Money's already in the bank. And I'm powerless to do anything about it. Can't cancel check, can't involve my credit card company. So. Here it is: ten days later and I am still waiting to get my car back. I am LOSING MONEY every hour that I am without it. And I miss my son. I'm also out $900. Okay. Maybe just $800 as this guy DID replace the belt and that was new and *seemed* to function properly (will provide updates on this). Two possible explanations:A) He and his mechanics are incompetent or inexperienced.B) He and his mechanics use substandard (presumably cheaper) aftermarket products for their work. The negative reviews (posted here and on other sites) should have been enough to cause me to STEER VERY CLEAR of Royal Auto Care. If I could give this shop a ZERO STAR rating, I would. UPDATE: I finally got my car back after nearly TWO WEEKS of "repair". AC worked fine for about three weeks, until early September when it went out again. Drove to his shop the next morning and told him about the AC going out yet again. Instead of apologizing and offering to put it on lift immediately or even run a few preliminary electrical tests himself (checking to see if something simple like a bad relay, blown fuse, faulty AC pressure sensor, etc.) he got angry and confrontational. I informed him that I planned to write a comprehensive and strongly NEGATIVE review of my experience with his business and he suggested (half-heartedly and without looking me in the eye) I leave the car and he would "take a look at it when he could". Not wanting to miss any further visits with my son AND lose yet another two weeks (or more) of wages, I walked out deciding I would test his "One year guarantee" and arrange to bring it back sometime spring/early summer 2025. After a lot of thought, I've decided to simply eat the $900 (which I can ill afford to lose) and take my car to someone competent and trustworthy. BUYER BEWARE.

They give you an initial price and it'll change five times until they feel like they made enough money off of you. And they break other things on your car and don't fix it and Brian one of the employees will give you a hard time . You go in for an oil change and leave with flat tires . This place is a rip off and the mechanic is a a junk yard mechanic. If you Value your car Money and Time DONT GO HERE !!!!!!

It was 4:15pm. I asked if they'd reconsider since we were going out of town the next day and I didn't want to try and find another place to do the oil change since it's later in the day. She said no it's after 4pm. Whatever. I left PISSED and got my Groupon refunded. Big middle finger to that lady with the 'tude. Second experience was slightly better. My husband needed an oil change and tire rotation and looking through Groupon we came across Medford Lube again. We actually laughed and said are we really going to try this place again after what happened before? I said screw it you need the oil change and rotation and no one else close had that deal. We get to Medford Lube BEFORE 4PM this time (eyeroll) and we're told that only an oil change can be done, no tire rotation because a certain lift that's needed for it isn't available. Now I'm stuck with this Groupon that I paid extra for the rotation. Here we goooooo. I purchase a SECOND Groupon for just an oil change and use that instead with the intention of getting the first one refunded. I will say that the girl working the desk this time was a lot friendlier than the older woman and called us when the truck was ready since we went next door to grab lunch. Took 15 minutes. After reading a couple of the other reviews on Yelp I'm wondering now if they even changed my husband's filter. Smh. I ended up keeping the other Groupon for myself since I need an oil change as well and tire rotation. But this time I'll be making an appt for both so I know it'll be done. Because of other reviews I'll also make sure my filter is changed and mark my tires so I know they're actually rotated. I shouldn't even have to do all that but apparently buyer beware with this place. Shame.

Thank god my engine didn't actually blow up I got very lucky. I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING BACK TO THIS PLACE!!!!

He will only go to Pinky's for any service on his car and for many reasons: Honesty, dependability, accomodating and extremely fairly priced! I asked Mark, the owner, where the name Pinky's came from. He explained that they are a female friendly establishment!! They explain, in detail, the cars problem, cost, make recommendations BEFORE any work is done! I greatly appreciate that because I have been taken advantage of way too many times in the past by dishonest mechanics! Also, they just like the color pink so the name stuck, voila!! My brakes needed repair and Mark spent so much time with me, after the repair, explaining why they wore so quickly. It was because I wasn't braking correctly! Now I try to pay more attention to this! Another time my husband gave me a coupon he had for a special they were running for an oil change, which is what I was bringing my car in for. I usually speak with Stephanie, in customer service, at the front desk. She is the nicest person and the epitome of what customer service should be. She goes out of her way to accomodate you and is extremely efficient! This particular day though, I dealt with Aggie, part owner of Pinky's. The coupon was for part synthetic oil but my car took full synthetic oil so Aggie told me the cost beforehand, which wasn't really much more anyway! Another time, my tire had a slow leak because I ran over a nail. My tire was patched and a year later it's still fine. My daughter has a 2013 Hyundai which has needed a lot of work over the past year. Mark diagnosed everything accurately and made the necessary repairs at a very reasonable price with a long term warranty! I also have to comment on the waiting area and bathroom as I'm one to pay attention to detail. The waiting area is clean and tidy with a TV and snack machine so it's very comfortable should you choose to wait for your car. The bathroom is also very clean and tidy and.... there's PINK toilet paper!!! That's just awesome!! If you are looking for a great and honest Mechanic, your search stops here! I would give Pinky's 10++ stars if I could. My entire family will only bring their cars to Pinky's to be servicedI We will never trust anyone else!
