Do not go to this shop for a diagnostic. It took them until having my car for the 3rd time to finally find the correct actual diagnostic that was causing my front forward noise which came from my engine mount. The owner of the shop gene couldn't properly diagnose an engine mount problem until he heard the secondary reverse noise that came from my engine mount getting worse over time. They don't take accountability for there mistake in misdiagnosis of my car which they claimed was my struts initially. I went to another shop and did my struts and noticed no difference when I did my struts and gene still wanted to sit there and claim some imaginary noise was coming from my passenger side strut. I drive and use my car everyday the front forward noise didn't get fixed until the engine mount got fixed. Learn to take accountability and be honest to your customers instead of robbing them and lying to there face about getting it wrong. Boasting about your years of experience means nothing when mechanics can't properly diagnose a engine mount and wait till it got worse and only know where one noise is coming from but not the other that I've been complaining about since November. read more

DO NOT USE GENE'S 112 AUTO SERVICE, ESPECIALLY YOU MY FELLOW VETERANS & SUFFOLK COUNTY CIVIL SERVANTS. This is going to be long but it will save you time, aggravation & certainly money. What I state here is what I'll be stating in small claims court when I sue this business. This past April I took my 2015 Chevy Cruz to Gene's for a list of maintenance. After he charged me $184.61 for a "Check Engine Light Diagnosis", Gene called to inform me his garage did a thorough exam of parts my vehicle needed and listed them, saying it was going to cost $4,500 for all repairs. As I am not made of money, I agreed to allow his garage to do about half the items on the list which included fixing the passenger side window which was off track of the window motor and unable to roll up or down. I had the same exact problem for the driver side door a year before and another garage had fixed it. I should've went back to them. Well, after $2,357.14 for parts, labor & tax, Gene called me to tell me my car was ready for pickup, but there was a problem. The passenger side door window, though I paid $582.64 for a new Window Motor Regulator and the labor to install it, still could not be rolled up or down. Suddenly there was a bent seam in the door and it could not be fixed. Though he charged me nearly $200 for a full diagnostic of my car's needs, then calling me afterwards to tell me of all the parts I needed, NEVER did he mention anything about a bent door seam. Very suspicious. So, after charging me all that money for parts & labor to have the door window repaired, Gene, a man who acted like my friend, was content to let me drive away with the door window in worse shape than when I brought it in, content he lowered the value of my vehicle. Do you want this to happen to you? BTW- he claims to be a family friend, which made me reluctant to fight this, but this is shady business. So after I inquired about a refund, he refused to respond. When word got back to him I was going to sue he relayed he'll fix the door, but it's going to cost me more money. So a customer has to pay more money for all his shop's mistakes? Incredulous. Anyway, would you further trust a shop that just did this to your vehicle to do more work on your it? I do not want to go anywhere near that business again. Please, for your wallet's sake, your heart's sake, stay away. Do not go through what I went through. I'm also a published author and community activist who has helped many charities & churches including one in Nigeria that feeds & educates a community. I came up to genes needing an inspection. I was treated with blatant disrespect and rudeness. they accused me that I was going to drive off with my car before the inspection was done. I asked for my keys multiple times and they ignored me instead of informing me of what was going on. I went to my mechanic to get everything fixed and they told me that the person who was working on my car disconnected the battery making the codes reset without asking or informing me of it. I had a great experience at Gene's. I made an appointment to bring my car in to have a brake inspection as I was feeling some weird rumbling when braking. The drop off was simple. The girl that worked in the office was very friendly and cool. Gene came in before I left to get an idea of exactly what I was asking him to look for. He called me an hour or so later to explain the issue in detail and to explain my options and his recommendation. I had him replace all four rotors and pads as well as flush and fill the brake fluid and complete a NYS inspection. The cost was a little more than I had anticipated going in, but Gene provided a very thorough explanation regarding the premium parts that he was using as well as the 2 year/24,000 mile warranty on parts and labor that was valid anywhere in the U.S. via the TechNet network. Overall and excellent and professional experience. I would certainly return to Gene's for any other car repair issues. read more

I took my car to Gene's this morning for Transmission issues. I had no appointment, and Gene still managed to look at my car and call me back the same day. He ended up having to send my car to Top Gear Transmissions since my transmission's issues were severe. Although he couldn't service me himself, he was still very professional and courteous. He arranged for my car to be towed there and set the whole transfer up for me. He advised me on how long it may take and answered all my questions. He did not charge me for anything.
