[[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a nice gentleman at STS named Leon and he helped me. I waited a total of 45 minutes.They were very pleasant to deal with and very efficient[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I also got replacement windshield wipers on my car. It was a very easy process to deal with this company STS. They charged me a fair price. However, after removing a tire on one of the cars they informed me that my lug nuts were swollen. I was changed $165 for 20 lug nuts. I think that is a bit excessive but what was I to do, my car had a tire that couldn't be put back on? Lug nuts were delivered quickly and tire install and alignment were quickly completed. read more

Was completely ripped off by this shop. They called in a welder to fix my car. Not only did I pay more than double what it should have cost they didn't fix it correctly and I had to take it to my mechanic to get it fixed. I know I was over charged because my mechanic is going to charge me $55 to refix it. I paid $400 to this shop for them to not fix it. don't go here. go somewhere else. read more

Then, after paying over $1,500 for my tires, they forgot to put the tire caps back on--on every single tire. Just careless, sloppy work. There's really no excuse for that level of negligence. My wife has been a long time customer of STS and we have been very pleased with past service. They have been very good about not charging us for diagnosing problems like cracked rims that they can't fix. The past two times we've needed to use STS, they have been too busy to accommodate us and we've had to use their sister store, Mavis on Rt 22 west. This time I called STS with a punctured run flat tire. Paul told me that they had the tire I needed and could fit me in. I ran right over to a crowded store. They took my keys and told me not to worry they had help coming. I waited over an hour and my car still had not been looked at. 2 hours 25 minutes to change, mount and balance one tire. So Paul got to do this job but it is probably the last time I bring any car to this place. STS has gone to hell. Avoid this place and the liars who work here. read more

I would give them a zero stars if I could. I know a lot of people who have had a lot of bad experiences there, problems with their cars, things happening. The last straw for me, and I guess it was my fault for bringing my car back to them was the person who did my oil change over tightened the drain bolt and stripped it out. They refused to fix it stating, well this is going to happen to all cars eventually so it's really not our fault. It's 100% the person's fault who did the oil change for over tightening the drain bolt. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS LOCATION. STS is now owned by Mavis tire. So I would be wary for any STS or Mavis tire location Because if something goes wrong they are not going to take responsibility. No way to run a business. Update: the comment below they left for me to call them was not helpful. I called and never heard back. No accountability at all. It was just to make them look better. Do not take your car to these people. If something happens to your car you will be left to fix it they will not take responsibility. read more

So out of desperation and to please my Wife I went in on July 4th weekend for a flat repair. It just needed a plug for a slow leak in the treads. A week later my tire pressure light comes on again on the same tire. I needed front tires (original repair was driver rear) I had Richie's Tire look at the repaired tire when I was in for the new ones and they said STS never patched it? Had an appointment at a Mavis in Bernardsville but because they were short staffed they weren't able to take me. I called STS in Green Brook and they were able to take me right away. They helped to honor the coupons from the Mavis appointments I had and even helped to find other savings for me. The guy behind the desk was so helpful in explaining everything I needed and they never tried to upsell me anything that i didn't already know I needed. The wait time was very reasonable. Before heading over to the shop I figured I'd call to get pricing and appointment availability. I had the pleasure of speaking with Dan on the phone who was very courteous and thorough with explaining the type of service I was requesting. Service requested: Alignment and I needed them to fix my lopsided steering wheel. I headed on over since Dan advised they'd be able to take me right away. Upon arrival I was greeted and setup in the system. They had me in and out in no time as Dan had mentioned. Upon service completion, the technician who serviced my vehicle spoke with me regarding what he saw and fixed. He was thorough and clear, not to mention my steering wheel is no longer lopsided (as I like to call it since I don't know the technical term)! Being that I know absolutely nothing about cars, I did not feel like someone was trying to pull a fast one on me, or took a quick 'n easy way out of servicing my car. I have been a loyal customer for over 30 years and never had a problem. My last experience was an absolute nightmare! Went in for an alignment and to check on a slight noise coming from the tires...told I needed new brakes - had them done only to have the brake pad "fall off" on Route 80 and I had no brakes! Mavis in Parsipanny came and got me and fixed my brakes. I was also told I needed new front struts and 3 new tires. Went back and had this done and STILL had the noise. Then I was told I needed right rear hub assembly that's what was causing the noise. Went back a 3rd time had the work done only to be told they did the wrong side. Went back a 4th time to get the correct side done. 22 hours of my time and over $2000 I HOPE I'm in good shape. Needless to say I will be finding a new place to work on my car. I actually had a good experience here. After suffering a blowout on my new car tires riding on the highway, I managed to find this STS that was open on a Sunday (most are closed). Called before I got there and spoke to Javier. Wanted to make sure they could replace my tire before me and the doughnut I was riding in on got there. Lucky for me - they had exactly one of my tires in stock and I went. From the time I got there to the time I left was wonderfully brief and Javier was great to work with. The downside is the cost - I think I paid a premium for the service but seeing as this was my first time having a blowout, I couldn't be sure. Kudos to being open on Sunday. read more

We've been customers for years but with a lot of staff changes I wouldn't recommend for anything other than tire and oil changes anymore. I had engine trouble recently. STS had my car for nearly a week and quoted me $1000 plus repair. When it was taking so long to get the part I finally had the car towed to the dealer. Good thing because their diagnosis was wrong. The dealer told me it was a completely different problem. They had it repaired in a few hours for just a few hundred dollars. Big time and money savings. This place is a total rip off. They said that they replaced my cam sensor and also my crank sensor for no charge but on the invoice there was nothing. They said they replaced the battery but the car was dead. This place is the absolute worst shop I have ever been to. Had my car for over a month and now the car doesn't run. Absolute upsell and ripoff. I went in with 2 flat tires on my mom's car They quoted me $66 to fix the 2. When I asked why so much they gave me all this horseshit about repair kit, balancing,etc,etc. By the way their price list had flats repaired for $10.95 and up. In a bind so I said fix one. The next day I took the other to mom's local Middlesex repair shop and they fixed the other one for $20. Lesson learned. read more

We have been happy customers of STS for 7-8 years, but today they went above and beyond. On our way out of town for the holiday weekend, we had one more stop to make, but when we went to turn the car on, nothing happened! We called STS (which was right down the street), explained what happened and Eric suspected that it was the battery. He came out to us, tools in hand, and got us back up and running so we could get to the shop. In no time at all we were on our way with a new battery. I should add that these guys, and their colleagues at other STS branches, have kept our cars running well beyond 100,000 miles (320,000 and still going strong in one case)! read more

The service here is excellent and I completely trust them. I was told by my Lexus dealer I needed rear break bass for $400. Obviously I knew that cost was steep. Lexus told me I should not drive more than 1000 miles on the current pads or else I would damage the rotors. I brought it to STS to have them changed and was shocked to hear I was no where NEAR needing pads. They could have easily told me different and I would not have known. Really disappointing to hear that Lexus needs to pull such a crappy stunt when they already make a ton of money. I have been coming to this STS for years and they have never let me down! My sister went there because her brakes were making a noise. First thing they said she needed a new battery because it was only charging 50%. As far as the brakes , they said she needed new rotary, drums pads and calipers at a total of550.00. Decided to go to her regular mechanic who was a little farther away. The only problem was she needed pads and a caliper was hung up. Total bill 120.00 . And the battery was only a year old . Will never go again to STS read more

Caveat: This was for a very specific situation, so take it for what it's worth. Also, STS/Mavis does tend to rotate their local managers frequently, so things could change quickly at any particular location. Nonetheless: A dash warning light came on in our 2011 Honda Odyssey that literally says "Replace Battery", so we dropped it off at STS (on Route 22 in Greenbrook) to get a new battery. When I later called them to get the status, the manager, Jake, basically told us, "we found nothing wrong with the battery or the alternator, and the battery had plenty of cold cranking power, so I didn't feel comfortable putting a new battery in. I could if you still wanted me to, but since the battery doesn't look that old and it's a Honda battery, my recommendation is to take it back to them, maybe they'll prorate the warranty for it if you still want a new battery." When we went to pick the car up, Jake handed us the key and said, "We cleaned the contact and tightened the connection. But no charge today." I was impressed with his honesty and of course the work he did without charging for it. Kudos to STS for that! Again, this was for a fairly minor issue, so take this situation with for what it is. But interactions like this one build goodwill and trust for future business. read more

Needed new front brake pads and rotors. Every tire place around offers this service. I quoted 5 shops on the same highway within 7 miles. If you go on price, they were less than half of most of the local chains. But, the service was professional and quick. They quoted 90 minutes, and finished in 72. The price actually came out $6 lower than quoted. Will use them regularly. read more
