Structures Salon is exactly what you'd want from a relaxed, ~cool~ salon. It's not your grandma's spa. The layout of the building intrigued me, and I loved the view from the barbers chair! Booking online could be better- as the current website is a little confined in its mobile state. But that doesn't effect your in-person experience. I was pleased with the feature that let me choose my preferred stylist- as I can now book my appointments with the same hair professional. On the note of professionals, with a little bit of research online I could tell that the stylists here meant business. In my experience, they will give you tips and advice for managing your new look- as well as an estimate for when your next appointment should be. It is important you know what style you want before you go however, as you may need a consultation if you don't. That is a separate product/appointment that they offer. A big thanks to my stylist Cam, for helping me understand the steps to get my hair to look the way I wanted it to! I will absolutely keep coming back because of this standard of care. Have you met Bekah? You should; she's great! I was visiting my sister and she had a hair appointment. I went with her and then we were going to walk around Frederick and see the sights. But I didn't want to just wait, so I made an appointment at the same time to get my legs waxed. Why not? And that's when I met Bekah. We had so much fun. I don't usually like chatty estheticians. But we just hit it off and it was lots of fun. Not something I usually say about getting my legs waxed. I don't know who my sister had for her haircut, but she looked great! When you run a proper business last minute mishaps happen, but you have to be ready to make it up to the client. So now I took off from work for nothing and they won't reschedule me at MY convenience. This was me giving them a second chance and my first appointment I got the worst blowout of my life. Frederick has a lot more choices. Choose another salon. Came for a 30-40 minute blowout for my son's wedding. I booked way in advance. I arrived 20 min. early to be told if I could come back in an hour since, somehow, Kyle couldn't get to me. My son's wedding, so ofc No. Gave me to an "apprentice" who didn't even have a chair, who had to find a hairdryer, borrow brushes, etc. Horrible place. No manager came to apologize, no Kyle who clearly refused to push someone else to a later time. Left in tears on my son's wedding day rushing to get home to redo my hair. read more

My hair was butchered, nothing like the picture and since I was having a bad day already I didn't want to say anything about my hair, I even gave a good tip. The cut is completely uneven. I had people Cut off long strands on the back of my head that day. Here we are days later on Monday and my coworkers are still cutting off long long strands. No wonder I didn't get a mirror to look at the back of my head. I don't recommend this place especially since many of the great staff is now gone. Highly disappointed. read more

If you have naturally curly hair don't waste your time! I was very disappointed with the way I was treated! I've gone to this salon a few times in the past had no issues. I recently booked an appointment to get my hair blown out for a wedding I was attending and informed the receptionist on the phone exactly what I was looking for and she said that I would be booked for an hour with Rian. I arrived and was finally called back and after sitting in the chair for no less than 5 minutes and sharing that I was looking to have my hair blow out and curled which is what the appointment was booked for she shared that she didn't have enough time because she had another appointment. I was very confused on how all of a sudden there was no time to get my hair done when I explained I was looking for when I booked the appointment in advance. She left to talk to someone and came back letting me know she didn't have enough time but could wash my hair and have someone else do it. This was very upsetting to me because it felt like this was going to be a rush job just to get me out of the salon especially after hearing from the stylist that I was already scheduled with said within the first 5 minutes that she didn't have time to do my hair. This did not make any sense to me. I decided to leave because it was very obvious that she just didn't want to do my natural hair. It was very difficult to find a very last minute appointment but I managed to find one and the stylist ended up doing the exact style I had originally asked Rian to do within an hour. Side note: I called the salon to speak to the manager and found out she's on maternity leave so I spoke with the lead person Erin who acknowledged that she saw my hair and that it could've been done in the scheduled time and that it was more likely an issue with skill. My problem with this is if the lead person in the salon saw that an issue is occurring and it's due to skill or whatever excuse you want to use because it's very obvious this salon is use to only servicing a certain type of customer she should've came to assist with issue immediately. I received a poor apology and that was it. This was the worst customer service I've ever received and it's very shocking because I use to have nothing but good things to say about this salon as I even used them for my wedding and wedding party in 2019. I will never recommend this salon to anyone especially if you do not look like the customers they typically feature in their photos. read more

I have a bad habit of getting a haircut once year. I was clearly over due for a trim. A friend recommended Structure and I was more than impressed. I usually feel out of place whenever I go into salon but I felt so comfortable when I walked into Structure. The experience from entering and leaving was phenomenal. My girlfriend and I went to Structures this last Saturday for a Facial and Manicure/Pedicure. The facial was done by Theresa and was fantastic. The mani/pedi on the other hand was very disappointing. It seems clear that having nail services at the salon was an afterthought. They have a hodge podge selection and the young woman that did my nails did not actually seem to be a professional. She was filing my nails way too hard, then the polish was caked on very thick and covering my cuticles. Due to this 2 days later half the polish is cracked or tearing. (My girlfirend with the same results) The salon was very busy for hair appointments and I think I might go back to try to find a stylist, however under no circumstances could I recommend them for nails. ** Note our nail tech was not one of the ladies mentioned on their website. Jessica is my stylist and she is amazing. She keeps current on the latest styles and techniques, listens to what you want, but will also give you recommendations if what you want is unrealistic or unflattering for your face shape/hair type. She is very fashion forward and I trust her to give me a youthful stylish cut. I wish her cuts were more of a bargain ($65 not including tip) but I feel its worth it knowing she'll do a fantastic job every time. read more

I've been coming to Structures for years and have never been disappointed. The ladies that work here are so nice and they're so good at what they do. Being a higher end (in my opinion) salon, their prices are really reasonable and comparable to salons that aren't as great as this one. I fully trust the stylists here and at this point just let them do what they want with my hair everything they do is so quality and they stand behind their work. If you can, definitely stop in here. The salon is absolutely beautiful and the products they use are really nice (Kevin Murphy, Eufora) and they're environmentally friendly. read more

I have zero complaints about this salon. Appointments are super easy to book either online or in person and I can confirm a couple days before by a simple text message reply. Receptionists have always been friendly. I'm always greeted kindly the second I walk in and then offered tea, coffee or water while I'm waiting. My stylist, Leigh, is amazing. I've been seeing her for a few years for cuts, color, tape hair extension installation/maintenance, and makeup applications. She always does a great job no matter what I ask for and l trust her completely. I recommend her every chance I get to anyone that says they are looking for a new stylist. As for the hair extensions, I'm very happy with the quality the salon provides and I get a lot of compliments on my hair. If I decide to tell someone that I have extensions for whatever reason, they are always surprised and say they can't tell because they look natural like it's my own hair. I owe that to the quality and how great my stylist is at installing, color matching and blending them. The salon recently added a new nail spa loft. I've never gotten my nails done there, but I took a little tour and the area looked nice. read more

I have been going to Structures for over two years now following some hair disasters at other salons. Jess and Kelsey are amazing for hair color! (And reasonable priced) Jess and Tara are fantastic at lash extensions and Tara is my go to for my gel manicures every two weeks. The receptionists are always friendly and offer drinks if they have time to and aren't busy. The other staff will offer to check people in if the receptionists are busy too! Overall the staff here are welcoming and kind and I would highly recommend checking them out! They also have an online booking system which is great for people on the go, it's not the most user friendly interface but it's still so nice to be able to look at schedules even when the salon is closed! read more

The entrance was a little hard to find but once I got in, the experience was smooth sailing. Whitney cut my hair last week and she was so wonderful to work with. I loved the view of the Carroll creek during my haircut. I have curly hair so my rule is to never post a review until after I wash my hair and see how it turns out. Jessica has done phenomenal color/cut/style/spray tans and lashes for me consistently for years. I had my hair cut and colored by Destinee on 11/17/12 and I thought it was a OK experience but more expensive than my last cut/color in October. I asked for a itemized receipt but the receptionist stated "we don't do that". I was wondering why the cut/color was approx 20.00 more dollars than last time when I got the exact same service. I was SUPER disappointed when I got home an later that night I was looking in the mirror and noticed my left ear was COVERED in hair dye. I was like WHAT THE!!! Could she not have seen this glob of dye all over my ear on on the inside as well. LUCKILY it came of with some toner and LOADS of scrubbing. I made an appointment at Structures Salon for the first time for my wedding rehearsal dinner. I came in alone after being surrounded by dozens of family and friends and found a peaceful oasis in their sunny loft. Based on a Pinterest board I shared Destinee created a beautiful up-do that far exceeded my expectations and lasted all night despite the weight and thickness of my very long hair. Several guests actually took photos of the hairstyle so they could have it recreated on them in the future. I would 100% recommend Destinee for an up-do. She is an extremely skilled and talented hair stylist. read more

Receptionist demonstrates racist behavior. She appears to have a nice, people person type attitude but I gauged her hospitality the last 3 times checking in for my appointment. She (Alice) offers white patrons something to drink. Never to me; Is it because I am black......,probably. My lash technician wax Awesome (Tara); The manager has even reached out to me and apologized for her receptionist's behavior. Unfortunately I have to find another place to get my lashes done. I had a challenging, previous color on my hair that needed modifying and then i wasn't sure what i really wanted for a style anyway - AND my hair is very fine and challenging, to boot. Kelsey was patient, insightful, interested in understanding both what i thought i wanted and what i was capable of actually doing. I've been going here for 6 years and cannot remember a time I was happy with my cut. The most recent 2 times I received awful colors and cuts. While the first color was semi-rectified (still wasn't too happy), the second was absolutely horrible with visible lines between the 2 colors, which was supposed to be an ombre. The colors also do not look good together as one is cool and the other is warm. The cut was also bad with no angles and a straight-across look, which is not good for someone with wavy hair. I will not be going back as this most recent time I was encouraged not to come complain when the stylist told me "I can tell you're difficult to please." I walked in off the street one day and thought I would give them a shot. I was paired up with Destinee. She was wonderful - attentive, professional and fun to talk to. She was very comfortable using more extreme colors (blues, purples, pinks) and my hair looking INCREDIBLE at the end.
