We saw Erin's listing and the more we read about how she works, the more we knew we had found the perfect person for our needs. Erin has an extensive background in horticulture and working with plants and trees of all kinds, and an encyclopedic knowledge of plant names and characteristics. This came in very handy as we sought guidance about what to plant where, and when to plant it. She has managed to restore our landscaped yard to its former beauty and has taught us so much about how to move forward now on our own. Erin is punctual, reliable, and her fees are very fair. Plus, she's an awesome human being, and how often can you say that about someone you hire these days?? All I can say is, if you need help with your yard, landscaping, gardening, etc., you will thank me if you give Erin a call.

I have LOVED working with Debra Gear over the years. I was starting with a very large yard that had…read morezero landscaping and she helped me create a working 10 year plan for the entire property. It spanned from areas against forest where we focused on native plants, to large ornamental gardens, to a ultra-low-maintenance veggie garden. Debra held my hand and even taught me how to plant my veggies for best results. I highly recommend!

She promised she wouldn't go missing again and would finish the job right away. Two weeks later, the crew showed up and again put in one day of work. To this day, eight months later, the job is unfinished. Even worse, I paid an additional $1.7K that included an overpayment (her invoice was incorrect) of nearly $400. Debra has acknowledged I overpaid but says she's too broke to return the money. The quality of the work that was done is terrible: a path that was supposed to be level is not, another that was supposed to be straight is anything but that, metal path edges are wonky, and excavated soil was left all over the place, including on top of the crowns of established plants. I don't doubt that Debra can do good work but got the impression my job was small potatoes to her. I also got the impression she's manipulative, to put it mildly. Finally, it only belatedly occurred to me that Ms. Gear never represented to me that her business is licensed or insured. On jobs that require heavy lifting, mechanical equipment, etc: homeowner beware.

I love that. I love that they're raising baby chicks inside. *The exceptionally kind owners. They're always so calm, so kind, so friendly, so helpful, smiling all the time even though I know dealing with the public has to drive them batty at times. *The nursery feels like going to a friend's house. It's cozy and welcoming without the super sanitized commercial feeling of a lot of nurseries. *They're small but they have a nice variety. *They have some unusual things, too. I needed a lilac, not a tall big double bloom huge lilac like most people want. I needed a dwarf lilac and they had one. Perfect! *The location is great. Really easy to combine shopping, lunch, dinner, drinks at Fairhaven with gardening. *I love that they've been able go hang on in the nursery business for 27 years. If I was an owning-a-nursery kind of person, what their doing is how I hope I'd do it. Love, smiles, and hens in the mix.
