We have a half-acre corner lot primarily made up of lawn and flowerbeds, with a wide river rock…read moreborder along the perimeter of the property, and a large bamboo hedge. We had reached out to Landscaping By Garcia for an estimate to provide winter cleanup of our yard and beds, and prune our trees and shrubs. They were quick to respond to our inquiry, provided a comparable quote to what we had paid the in past, and promptly scheduled a time to complete the work. This morning we were pulling out of our driveway when they were beginning the work, and we returned home six hours later to a transformed yard - far beyond our expectations. Our shrubs are beautifully shaped, not just pruned. The trees are uniformly pruned and ready for the arrival of spring. Every leaf and stray seedling in the river rock was removed (some were actually becoming small trees), and the river rock is once again clear of debris. The thick layer of bamboo and maple leaves that covered the fence line and corners of the house were cleared away. The details of their effort and pride that they take is very apparent and appreciated. Again, far beyond our expectations.

He did not show up on the estimated start date & we gave him 2 weeks & waited for him to contact us. When I called him after 2 wks, he asked me to text him our address & he would call me back. He did not call back. I called again the next day & the call would not allow me to leave a message. I then texted him cancelling the job & told him I would stop payment on the deposit. The following day he called & apologized. I said I did not mind the delay as much as I DISLIKED the lack of communication--no text, no call re: delay & no response when I called-texted to follow up. Told him I cannot have a job done by someone who does not communicate by text or call!!!

Very thoughtful design implemented flawlessly. A pleasure to work with…read more Debra is in knowledgeable of the programs and regulations relating to shoreline and native habitat management. Her stonework turned out better than we had even hoped for. Just stunning.

I…read morecontacted her repeatedly and in a cordial manner during that time and she finally came over to my house to explain she'd been having some personal difficulties. She promised she wouldn't go missing again and would finish the job right away. Two weeks later, the crew showed up and again put in one day of work. To this day, eight months later, the job is unfinished. Even worse, I paid an additional $1.7K that included an overpayment (her invoice was incorrect) of nearly $400. Debra has acknowledged I overpaid but says she's too broke to return the money. The quality of the work that was done is terrible: a path that was supposed to be level is not, another that was supposed to be straight is anything but that, metal path edges are wonky, and excavated soil was left all over the place, including on top of the crowns of established plants. I don't doubt that Debra can do good work but got the impression my job was small potatoes to her. I also got the impression she's manipulative, to put it mildly. Finally, it only belatedly occurred to me that Ms. Gear never represented to me that her business is licensed or insured. On jobs that require heavy lifting, mechanical equipment, etc: homeowner beware.
