CrossFit Expressions

This place is great on so many levels. I am visiting CT for a few months during my husband's…read moredeployment and was searching for a Crossfit box that would welcome me into their community for that time -- and whose focus was not on crazy competitiveness or killing yourself for a WOD, but on getting a good workout using the right techniques. I came across a few "bigger" gyms in the area (that, years ago, I was a member of) but when I contacted them, I just knew they wouldn't work for what I needed/wanted. I emailed Crossfit Expressions and they quickly got back to me with clear answers to my questions and a "no problem" kind of attitude. Since joining in March, I have been quickly welcomed into their community. It's a small gym with an awesome atmosphere -- people know each other, talk to each other, support one another and the class sizes are small. The programming is thoughtful, easily scaled to your level -- and without a doubt, every time, gets you an great workout. As a military family, we've had the good fortune of being a part of many Crossfit gyms. The coaching here by Carole, John & Jordan is the best I've experienced. They take their time with you - give specific instruction - and really motivate you. I've had 2 kids since starting Crossfit. They met me where I was, helping me scale and set attainable goals for the time I'm here. There was no judgement - just quality coaching and programming. If you've never done Crossfit or are just starting, this place and these people are the way to go. I have never, so quickly, felt like "part of the team" and in our lifestyle where I am constantly the "new person" I appreciate that more than they know. I'll be back whenever we are in town!

Very friendly and welcoming gym! Thank you to the members and coaches for a great and fun wod!read more

Personal Training Alliance - I was looking for someone local who would train me at my home because I have two small children and I don't want to leave them

Working with Personal Training Alliance is one of the best things I have done in decades for myself…read moreand indirectly for my family. Our partnership began on a Sunday afternoon when both Marc and Frank came to my home for the initial consultation. Their professional approach included a thorough understanding of my status, goals and expectations. They clearly explained their recommendations and how we could move forward together. To put things in context I am a 74 year old male that has been complacent towards diet and exercise for most of my life. I came to realize that my complacency was no longer a viable lifestyle and I needed guidance with a sustainable plan that would address building strength and good nutritional habits. For the past 5+ months Frank has been coming to my house 3 days a week to work with me in meeting those goals. I couldn't be more pleased with the progress we have made. Frank is the perfect personal trainer. He is professional, respectful and very personable and that coupled with his expertise and knowledge has made my experience rewarding and enjoyable. Frank knows how to motivate and challenge me. His first concern is my safety. He always makes sure I am executing my exercises properly and that I understand the purpose of each exercise. He also makes sure I keep up with proper nutrition. Personal Training Alliance and Frank have exceeded my expectations in every way and I look forward to building on the progress we have made together.

His skill set is advanced for sure, but what really puts him over the top is his ability to not only listen, but to accommodate. He comes directly to my home and provides any and all equipment we need to work with that day. So all I needed to do was be ready to workout and be willing to follow his nutrition recommendations. In the short 12 weeks I've been with him so far, I've lost 25lbs and 5 inches from my waist alone. I highly recommend Marc Ouellette because his abilities expand far beyond helping with weight loss. If you're preparing for any kind of a fitness challenge or just want to get back into shape, he will listen to your needs and concerns and work with you to accomplish your goals. Thanks Marc!

She gave a member of the club (Lillie Ennis and her son Landon) a hard time and would not let the young man in after allowing his friends to enter with no problem (his friends did NOT have a membership). Landon showed his membership card and Lillie Ennis called and verified that her son Landon was in fact on the account. Mrs Ennis even called her local gym in Trumbull which THEY VERIFIED her account and Natalie, the manager, PROCEEDED to deny her son access. What kind of employee, who claims to be a MANAGER no less, behaves in this manner? She then LIED on Mrs. Ennis saying that she treated her poorly and had an attitude which was completely FALSE. This situation needs to be handled effectively. Any employee who behaves this way to its patrons needs to be held accountable and consequences should be given. People are PAYING for a service and are being denied that service, because of what? Natalie's bruised ego because SHE was WRONG? To be completely honest, it sounds like an incident of DISCRIMINATION and if that's the case, something needs to be done sooner rather than later. It is unacceptable and if this is a business of QUALITY, then the appropriate actions should be taken against Natalie and anyone else who works for this company who behaves this way.
