The food is really good here. The salad is weird; they make it with raisins. My whole family has decided that if we want Italian food we are going here instead of the competitor. Where to begin....Strings was a go to in the past. We swore it was always better than Olive Garden. Not any longer. The food was so subpar. Starting off, the bread is just not good anymore. Not hot, but very bland and cold. The salad, which is now not included with your entree, was very average. Next, the overpriced entree's. I got a dish with meat sauce. Well, so I thought. It was flavorless sauce with a ton of bell peppers. I seriously couldn't find the meat. Also, I never add salt to my dishes. There is no way the pasta was cooked with salt in the water, and the sauce had zero salt. The experience was very disappointing. I have had better at Dennys. I'm being very serious about that. Lastly, the smell of sewer was obvious as well. The good days are over for this establishment. Sorry to say it will be our last time going to Strings. Please don't come here!! We ordered one shrimp scampi and one chicken scampi both of which were utterly DISGUSTING!! The noodles had NO flavor at all. The soup add on for $2.99 was literally just broth, veggies and a couple handfuls of Italian sausage for their pizzas which were unheated. The four shrimp in the scampi were rubber and cold. The Alfredo sauce was clearly powdered. The chicken was like boiled chicken. We were going to just deal with the other foods other than the scalpi but when we sent it back the manager initially refused to remove it from our ticket(although we didn't eat any of it). He said there was nothing wrong so they boxed it up. For who?!?!!! Not for us bc it was disgusting so who are they giving our scampi to?! Then they tried to force us to pay for it. We begged our waitress for the manager which refused to come to our table. Instead he forced his sweet waitresses to come out with his answers like a total weasel. We paid for what we ate which honestly didn't deserve to be paid for either. Please save yourself and go the extra block to Olive Garden. Commercial Italian is way better than this microwaved shit. This busy Italian restaurant serves up heaping portions of comfort Italian food. The cuisine isn't gourmet, but it is tasty and filling. The staff is incredibly hospitable and accommodating. The Italian cream soda was a hit with my boys and I was happy with the generous pour of wine. What won my heart though was the unbelievably good prices for a parent buying dinner for her two kids. Not only did they get completely satiated with food that went home with us for leftovers, but the kid's plate was $4! When I got my bill, I almost fell out of my chair. It has been a while since I felt like dinner out with my boys was not only reasonable, but a great deal. So often the kid's plate are miniscule portions and quite pricey considering. My parents have a group of seniors they go to dinner with weekly and last week they went to Strings. One senior only ordered an appetizer and drink. When she got her bill they charged her for a salad. She told the server she didn't have a salad and because she ate some of a friend's salad, they charged her $7.99 for a full salad. (Had she had an entree it would have only been $.99, but since she only had an appetizer it was $7.99). What a bunch of crock to treat anyone, much less a senior on a fixed income $7.99 for taking a few bites of a friend's salad. I for one will never go there again. read more

We enjoyed the bread at the table and my favorite part was the Italian cream soda - I had never had it before but highly recommend trying it!! We were hungry for Italian. Not knowing Visalia that well, we googled for places to eat. Strings stood out in its description so we went. I was going to order the chicken parmigiana but saw the description of the chicken lombardy and ordered that instead. Got a bowl of their minestrone. My sister and her husband got salad. The waitress came with our drinks and a basket of garlic bread. It was hot and tasty. My soup was delicious. Then my meal came. It was delicious! The chicken breast was tender. They were generous with the mushrooms and artichoke hearts. I totally recommend this place. The food was great. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. The place does not look pretentious or haughty but inviting and quiet. Terrible! Made a phone order for a reason. Person on the phone told me about 35 mins.made my order at 6:46 ish (but I was put on hold) came a little bit late but my order still wasn't ready. I asked if they would call me when my order was ready for pick up he then said"no just come in 35 mins" what happened to them calling when order was ready. I waited by the "pick up window" and the 2 girls working were just looking at me. Not to mention so was everyone inside. I looked ridiculous waiting for a few mins. A customer leaving told me the main door was on the side, as if I didn't know that. They should have someone by the window as soon as you arrive. I fell in love with this amazing Italian restaurant on Valentine's Day when I had their Lasagna Pastry. It is a lasagna wrapped in an onion pastry dough. The pastry dough is so thin and light that it just holds the flavors inside. The Lasagna is then sat on top of two types of sauce. It has a red Italian sauce on one side and a white cream sauce on the other. They are each wonderful on their own. But the bite where you get both is simply divine! The service at Strings is always prompt and professional. This is an absolute treat to dine at this fine establishment. Dress up or go casual as it all fits here! I'd give zero stars if I could. Went here with my family to celebrate two birthdays (party of 8). We called ahead and they said they could get us in right away, still waited 20 minutes to be sat even though our table was already put together and ready for us. (Not a big deal, we understand restaurants get busy). Our server did not acknowledge us or come to our table for 20 minutes to take our order. Upon ordering for my 10 year old, he wanted a grilled chicken breast. The waitress told us the side dishes had to be ordered with an entree (not stated on the menu). We asked to add it to one of our main dishes, but receive it on the side and she told us we could not do that and they would mix the chicken in with whatever dish we ordered it with. We then asked if we could order plain pasta and have the chicken breast placed on top and again we were told no, they were going to mix it in with the pasta. The waitress claimed this was a rule created by the owner of the establishment because he wants people to order full dishes and not side dishes. We came to the restaurant 7 months ago and ordered a single chicken breast with no problem, however we were refused this visit. The waitress would not accommodate our requests for how we wanted our food prepared. Which makes no sense because a meatball will not be cut up and put in my dish, so why does a chicken breast need to be cut up if we don't want it that way? We will not be coming back here again and will be sure to let family and friends know of the horrible experience we had. 0/0 recommend. read more

The first time I ate here was in 2019 and the server just complained about wanting to go home and was exhausted I can completely understand since customer service can be a nightmare but made me feel like I was the issue. I only encountered her 2 other times still complaining about how tired she was and wanting to go home. Haven't seen her since and the waiters that I've had so far have been nothing but amazing.
