I've never been much of a gym person but after loosing my love for running (I was that actual…read moreperson who ran one marathon and went "yeah this is really terrible") I knew I needed to find a new form of exercise for both my physical health as well as my mental health. Living in the energy corridor I had a lot of different options but I did not want a cookie cutter gym, I wanted somewhere that I could belong, somewhere that I felt the staff would get to know me and not judge me if- and when- I did something wrong. Plus I wanted classes- I LOVE group exercise classes cause I have no idea what to do on my own. So I took my then boyfriend and we went to MAC. We really found it to be a welcoming place. It is not the cheapest around but one thing I have learned is that I would always rather have quality in the things that affect my overall well being. I have made friends at this gym, I have been through Harvey and road construction with this gym and I always felt valued as a member. I've been kept in the loop- they do a fantastic job of hosting different types of events and keeping their social media up to date. And now through what is proving to be one of the most interesting events to happen they continue to show their dedication to members by offering youtube classes and free virtual classes. Every day they are posting and making sure there is something to do and a way to get a workout in even at home. This is far more than a gym but truly also a community and a family.

I go almost every day for Training for Warriors with Jeff, he's an exceptional coach who really motivates you (and Lex). Yoga with Guillermina is always calming and inspiring, and Zumba with Julia, Edie, Kevin is full of fun and energy. Felipe is super supportive, and honestly all the coaches are amazing. It's truly my favorite place to work out, push myself, and feel great

Dominic and the other teacher (can not remember her name) are amazing! The classes are tailored for your needs. I have a few injuries and he makes me feel comfortable, makes sure I have a replacement exercize so I do not reinjure or further injure my injuries. The classes are perfect because he tailors them to your strength and skill level! The studio is clean and prices are fair!

The center isn't very busy so there is always plenty of parking. It does get a little crowded when there's a spin class going on at Revolution a few doors down. The first 3 classes are free which is wonderful because that is just the right amount of time for you to get a feel of the studio. Even though there are specific class times on the schedule, you aren't actually all working out at the same time. At first I wasn't sure if it's something I like since most of the time you start and end at the same times as others as a group. But after a few classes, I actually prefer it this way. A run through of how the session at DU Pilates work. 1. Come in and Dominic will likely direct you to a reformer of his choice. 2. He will talk with you over any concerns that you have for the day. My knee was actually bothering me last time so he scaled the workout to not put pressure on my knee. 3. He'll instruct you through the moves. If you are brand new to Pilates, he will spend more time with you. If you are more seasoned, he work with someone else while keeping an eye on your form. He will correct from across the room. 4. Once you are done, you are done since it's not timed with a class setting. There are sometimes 3-4 other people in the studio when I am there and everyone is working out at different pace and different levels. I actually like it because you go at your own pace and ability. A more advanced person wouldn't have to do the same as a less advanced and vice versa. My first two sessions, I was doing a lighter workout and by my 3rd he added more moves. I have done Pilates in the past so I feel like he is advancing me quicker. As first I was concern with the multiple different people but Dominic is very good at multitasking and helping each client. Now that I am done with my first 3 I plan to purchase a package. I can already feel the benefits of Pilates again.
