I recognized one of the gorgeous personal trainers Jourdan from high school and immediately reached out to her and filled out the intake form. Seeing how in shape she was and her feed really motivated me to pursue this gym. The intake process was relatively quick and I came in for my first session with Jourdan. She showed me a couple of workouts and showed me around both Illuminate Fitness and Illuminate sweat. We sat down and discussed goals and I was so pumped to start this journey. I will say from the first meeting I was so hooked by Jourdans bubbly personality. She is SO freaking sweet. She set me up with my current PT, Kelly who I adore. It's been about five weeks since I've started my meal plan and training with Kelly twice a week as well as attending the group classes four times a week. I've seen so much change in my body and even on the inside (my confidence, self esteem etc) I could literally cry. I was lying to myself before I started coming here eating whatever I wanted and "working out" in a constant cycle of going 110% and then quitting. I was so tired of the BS. This gym has transformed me inside and out. Everyone here is extremely genuine and supportive. I love that I have them to look up to. I love the community feel and how they are always looking out for their clients. I want to give a major shout out to Kelly, Jourdan, Nate, Colby, Emily and the rest of the team for everything you guys do for your clients. You guys really have something amazing going on here and I can't wait to see this business blow up. Y'all are amazing. Dominic's studio is a very basic pilates studio. It's not fancy nor modern but it has all the…read morewonderful pilates equipment such as the reformers, cadillac, chair, and the barrel. The center isn't very busy so there is always plenty of parking. It does get a little crowded when there's a spin class going on at Revolution a few doors down. The first 3 classes are free which is wonderful because that is just the right amount of time for you to get a feel of the studio. Even though there are specific class times on the schedule, you aren't actually all working out at the same time. At first I wasn't sure if it's something I like since most of the time you start and end at the same times as others as a group. But after a few classes, I actually prefer it this way. A run through of how the session at DU Pilates work. 1. Come in and Dominic will likely direct you to a reformer of his choice. 2. He will talk with you over any concerns that you have for the day. My knee was actually bothering me last time so he scaled the workout to not put pressure on my knee. 3. He'll instruct you through the moves. If you are brand new to Pilates, he will spend more time with you. If you are more seasoned, he work with someone else while keeping an eye on your form. He will correct from across the room. 4. Once you are done, you are done since it's not timed with a class setting. There are sometimes 3-4 other people in the studio when I am there and everyone is working out at different pace and different levels. I actually like it because you go at your own pace and ability. A more advanced person wouldn't have to do the same as a less advanced and vice versa. My first two sessions, I was doing a lighter workout and by my 3rd he added more moves. I have done Pilates in the past so I feel like he is advancing me quicker. As first I was concern with the multiple different people but Dominic is very good at multitasking and helping each client. Now that I am done with my first 3 I plan to purchase a package. I can already feel the benefits of Pilates again.

I also like the weight room as it has an impressive selection of smith machines and cardio equipment such as the treadmills which have fans incorporated into their machines. There are 3 things I have noticed that I don't like: 1. the weight room doesn't have a bench that allows you to do workouts in declined mode and the staff wouldn't let me donate a commercial bench with that option. so Declined DB or BB press cannot be done which is strange as it is offered at most corporate gyms. 2. DB selections for the most common weights sets such as 10-25 lb are lacking with only 1 set of DB weights per designated weight for a gym that might have 15 people working out in free weight room (the very least offer *3 sets of 12 lb dumbbells). 3. the men's locker rooms wooden benches and the three leather seats by the tv are stinky dirty and we know this bc every-time I placed my towel on the seats or the bench to change out of my clothes; this foul smell is left on the towel. The smell is so potent that it transfers to my gym bag like trash left out on the sun for several days and I find myself having to wash the towel and the gym bag just to get the homeless stench off. I have learned to avoid the men's locker room like a plague and instead use the lockers found across the gym to put my belongings.

Trotter has a heated outdoor lap pool that is open year round. The hours are generous although beginning 2/10/25 it is closed 2:00-4:00. The Villages Gym is the perfect place for everyone from newbies to fitness to gladiators that take on marathons. It has everything you need, but in a smaller, comfortable and clean space that allows you to work hard and feel comfortable doing it. Getting to the gym is a feat for me, I'm no athlete, and these guys always greet me with smile that is like that inner-high-five feeling. It keeps me coming back. PS if you are looking for big lights, big city gym with complicated contracts, a pool, climbing wall and squash courts - this isn't for you. If you are looking for support while you do a workout using Pilates equipment, free weights, treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, weight machines, etc and a comfortable place to change and shower, you'll love it.
