Joining a new…read moregym can be very intimidating, but here, I never felt bad about being a newbie because the coaches would make the effort to be clear with instructions and technique in every class and members were all understanding and helpful as well. The classes are 45-50 min long and I get a great workout while having fun punching/kicking and learning new things at the same time. I went from exercising 0-1 times a week to 3-4 times a week consistently. FYT GYM has helped me in my health journey as I've changed my perspective on exercise as a pleasure in life rather than a boring chore. Coaches whose classes I attend (night classes) are Johnny, JP, Mike, Andrew, Jessica & Irene. They're all great people, so thankful for all of them!

I found Formula Fitness in January through a Yelp search, knowing nothing about the gym or what to…read moreexpect. It was: Tony's quick text and warm, authentic conversation that made me feel comfortable enough to show up for my first appointment with CJ; CJ's care, humor, and no-frills approach that got me to sign up; Chris' kindness, patience, attentiveness, empathy, and expertise that keeps me going. But ultimately, it's the culture of this gym that truly makes Formula Fitness special; kind, welcoming, and inclusive, supportive and encouraging. When I started in January 2026, I wanted to improve my health, get stronger, and lose weight. What I've gained has been so much more. Being in my 40s, I've learned I can no longer approach fitness the way I did in my 20s. What worked years ago no longer serves the person I've grown into today, and Formula Fitness has helped tailor my fitness journey in a way that feels healthy, sustainable, safe, and realistic for this stage of life. Working with Coach Chris has completely changed how I think about fitness and nutrition. No quick fixes or pushing my body recklessly, but rather a focused approach to build up my strength, understanding how my body works, and creating habits I know I can sustain long term. I appreciate that my sessions focus on how I train safely helping me achieve beyond where I think I am at, but also ending with recovery. Today is now June 2026 and I've lost body fat, gained muscle, improved my overall health, and completely changed my relationship while taking care of myself. Being down 30 pounds in six months has simply been the cherry on top. The real transformation has been gaining energy, building healthier habits, understanding food and my body on a deeper level, and learning to care for myself. I have learned that fitness isn't about going back to who I once was, but about how to care for the person I am today. I'm incredibly grateful to Chris, Tony, Jay, CJ, and the entire Formula Fitness team for helping me do exactly that.

Motivating coaches, plenty of classes, fun community, challenging workouts!…read more I've been at CF LosAl now for 6 months and dropped into quite a few other CF boxes, and I can say with confidence that CF Los Al is a cut above. For context, my very first workout I didn't even finish. I was so intimidated by the running, I was completely out of breath, and I had no idea what "clean and Jerk" or "power snatch" meant. We were supposed to run 400m but I just ran 200m. We were supposed to use barbells and I just used dumbbells. We were supposed to do 4 rounds and I just did 2.5 rounds. I was exhausted and unbearably sore the next day, and the 3 days following. I decided to go out on a limb and try the first three months and sign up even though it was more expensive than I was comfortable with, but I wanted the motivation and to go out of my comfort zone. The coaches Dave, James, Larry, Taylor, Daniel, Madi, and others were all incredibly supportive of me being a beginner at CrossFit and made sure to explain everything carefully since I didn't know the lingo. They answered my questions patiently and encouraged me to push myself. After a month I tried to go every other day and it was brutal, and after two months I started going 6 days per week and have enjoyed every moment! I lost 50 lbs and gained confidence I never did at a normal gym like 24 hour or la fitness, and I PR'd by a significant amount in every single exercise. I'm the fittest and strongest and most confident that I've ever been, and I owe so much to the community and coaches here at CrossFit Los Al! Can't recommend more!!

Over the years I have gone from personal training, competing in CrossFit, coaching it and now managing a gym. No CrossFit gym is the same, so always do your research. I have been to many gyms and I can say that CrossFit Los Al is a great gym to be a part of. I remember the first time I went to Los Al, I actually looked back to see when it was (116 weeks ago via Instagram). It was early in the morning and I was immediately welcomed. When I was foam rolling and stretching before class, members came up and introduced themselves and the coaches were very welcoming. We were put through a great warm up and lead through the class from start to finish. I have been back multiple times since and it has always been a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and genuinely cares about people. You are more than a dollar sign. This stuff isn't about a quick fix to get that summer body, it is a lifestyle to develop and help you become better versions of yourself. You will be taken care of and treated like an individual. You can take my word for it, but I highly recommend you go in and see for yourself.

He was so right!I have been training since July. I had tried another gym and it wasn't for me I dreaded going. I have had trouble with my knees and hip and haven't worked out at all. I never will forget I cried my first week, I was so out of shape. Kathy helped me understand that it's all going to be ok. I am there working out and I am doing something to help me. I was doing good, I was working out and ya know she was right. I was there an HOUR, not a half hour like the other gym and not dying that my heart felt like it would jump out of my chest. Don't get me wrong I still work out hard, but Kathy helped my workouts because they were modified to help me last and not injure myself. I so looked forward to going to workout. I was gaining my strength and my endurance not to mention my confidence. I must say it's September and I can finally feel I AM STRONGER! I GOT THIS! Kathy has encouraged me to push myself and I have. We are our own worse enemy and pacifier. I DID IT with her help, knowledge and patience with me. I moved up in weights, I moved up to push myself further with her patient way and looks. I am thinking, "Ya know I am going to try this" knowing she is there watching you all the way and if you can't it's ok let's modify. I look so forward to my workouts and our emails, tips on eating, relaxing, working out on our off days and most important good nutrition. I know that Kathy is trained well and her knowledge is amazing. She knows what she is doing, explains everything to you and how not to to injure yourself. As Kathy reminded us in a email and loved it " Anyone who stops learning is old, whether twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.
