They have an alkaline water dispenser They have 5-6 squat racks and generally it doesn't get too busy on that so you'll for sure get one. If free weights aren't your thing, they do have a smith machine but keep in mind there's only one so be expecting to wait for that. The brand machines they use here are hammer strength. The rare pieces of equipment that aren't usually at other commercial gyms that they have here are a pendulum squat, Another aspect that may annoy people is that there are a lot of high schoolers that come here in the evening but I've noticed that they are pretty respectful and it's easy to get along with a lot of the people here which is why I enjoy the ambiance/atmosphere here because I've never had such a supporting community of gym people at commercial gym before. For example: the employee, Kien is a Powerlifter as well and from getting to know him, I can say he goes above and beyond with cleaning, getting to know the regulars here and basically he as supportive to everyone here. That goes for the whole staff too. They're all pretty nice! Cleanliness wise, they upkeep to the best of their ability but it's not the staffs job that everything gets kind of dirty fast. It's the gym goers. I've witnessed kids literally spit out their gum in the urinal and it gets annoying. To sum everything up, this gym is great and I love everything here!

There's two restrooms in the back as well as cubbies you can leave your stuff. Most classes I've been to were booty day so it was all of lower body and glutes. For one of the classes, each workout is sectioned out by two sets of 45 seconds with a 15 second break in between each set. Another one was 3 minutes to get through 8 workouts ranging from RDL's, hip thrusts, lunges, Bulgarian squats with 10-30 sets each. There's a ton of equipment spread throughout and when you're done with a set, you'll move forward to the other workouts. I was sweaaaating!! I joined in for their other classes too and each day is a different format. Which is nice since you get to switch it up. Downside would be ... there's a bad mosquito problem here. Almost every time I've been here I've gotten mosquito bites and I always see them flying around. They even fly around the front desk. It sucks but wear some bug spray if you're coming here. Pepe walked around to correct forms during the workouts. This gym definitely got me feeling sore. They have a 21 day promo for $21.

I stuck it out for about 6 months before switching back to Crunch. First off, this gym smells horrible. It also gets so hot during the summer months because it's upstairs and they never seemed to have a/c running?? So that made the smell 10x worse. Some days I couldn't even finish my workout because of how smelly it was in there. Not a single time did I witness an employee walking around cleaning up or putting equipment back where it belongs. Bathrooms reeked of chlorine and BO. I would avoid the bathrooms at all costs. The free weight system is horrible. Literally none of the weights are in their correct spots so it's nearly impossible finding the weights you need. You'd think that the employees would take initiative and try to reorganize for the sake of the paying members, but they don't. The equipment is so rundown and needs replacing so bad. Machines are missing grips, mechanisms are broken, etc. some machines would be out of order for weeks, even months sometimes. I thought having amenities like a sauna and pool would be nice, but I never ended up even checking them out because I figured they would be gross like the rest of the gym. Disappointing. For the price, you're much better off going to a different affordable gym. Wish I didn't waste my time going here. Would rate negative stars if possible.

I've been going a couple times a week for about two years and have taken Pilates at multiple studios. I genuinely love it, but if you want to be humbled, take Vanessa's class. Every class with her blows me away as she somehow designs workouts that look innocent and then absolutely destroy you. The moves look easy, she does them with witchcraft-level ease, and five minutes later I'm sweating and questioning my life choices. No two classes are ever the same, which I deeply appreciate because repeating the same Pilates routine is a fast track to boredom. Vanessa's energy is unmatched. She's not there to be a Pilates influencer (praise the Lord); no matching Lululemon sets, no makeup, very principal Trunchbull vibes (but in a good way). She commands the room and has zero hesitation calling people out for chatting during class, which honestly just adds to the experience. It's a great workout every single time, and I truly feel like I get my money's worth. Vanessa cares about Pilates, cares about teaching it properly, and it shows. This part of the review is for LA Fitness: FIX THE GD AC in the Pilates classroom at Garden Grove, it's getting borderline unacceptable. -5/5 stars. (Unless you want to make it a hot Pilates classroom like hot yoga, I'm sure we need an additional waiver for that). I'm not quite sure why some of the LA Fitness gyms are different (cleaner/updated) at each location in the oc & sd like mission valley & Irvine over Mira Mesa and garden grove. Some gyms need to be updated, have broken weights or workout machines and dirty bathrooms/pools. The signatures or a select few are really nice. It's a little annoying. I wish there was a higher standard for every LA fitness like there was 10 years ago. Working ac should be a standard at everyone.

"It never gets easier -- you just get stronger."…read more I love how this adage can apply to not only lagree but life in general. With that said, I came across Stronger on a Yelp search late one night as I was suffering from insomnia and thinking about going from zero (i.e., couch potato) to... a number greater than zero. I had heard about lagree from a friend a while ago, and she seemed to really enjoy it, so I thought it'd be worth checking out. The intro deal (2 classes within a week for $20) was reasonable, so I scheduled my first class ASAP. As someone who is relatively shy, especially in gym-related environments, I showed up to class feeling incredibly nervous. Fortunately, the instructor (Jamie) was super sweet and welcoming, and she made me feel at ease. When class started, we warmed up with a plank, and I fully appreciated how physically unfit I was, as I started to immediately sweat, breathe heavily, and tremble. While transitioning into other moves, I struggled so hard, but Jamie was always patient and encouraging. She'd often say words of affirmation in a truly genuine way about how we're strong and able to get through each exercise ("Yes, you can!"). At one point, she also said, "You're allowed to take up space," which is such an important and powerful reminder, no matter the context. I especially appreciated how she had no problem being hands-on when correcting my form even though I was a sweaty mess (and she did this for everyone, too). At other fitness studios, the instructors are a bit squeamish about touching people to correct them (and I don't blame them), but that's not the case at Stronger. Class was over before I knew it, and I was absolutely exhausted and dripping in sweat (at one point, it probably looked like I was crying from all the sweat pouring from my forehead like that Jordan Peele GIF). I remember feeling a bit disappointed in myself for not being able to properly keep up and straight-up pausing sometimes to catch my breath. But Jamie and the other members were very kind and reassured me that I did a great job, especially as a first-timer. At my second class (also with Jamie), I struggled again and was overly apologetic, but Jamie was supportive and gracious, saying, "As women, we apologize a lot for every little thing, but we don't have to do that." She also reminded me to breathe throughout class, which clued me into my bad habit of holding my breath when I'm doing something challenging. That gentle nudge helped me stay more present in my body, and I started noticing how often I tense up without realizing it. And I've also taken a class with Maggie, who's so knowledgeable and upbeat. She somehow makes even the toughest moves feel fun. At Stronger, there are people of all ages and fitness levels just doing their thing, and that makes it way less intimidating. Some folks are lifting heavy, others are modifying moves, and it's all good. Bottom line: Stronger and its community definitely live up to the name!
